Tuner check

Is there any way (perhaps a plugin) that shows the state of the tuners?

I had a Hauppauge dual tuner (same as the IceTV version) left over from a failing BW V2 and plugged it into the left over side USB slot and splitter output.

I could only test by recording a channel from each network which it passed with flying colours. I would however like to see what kind of signal quality/quantity the tuners get.

Without some way of checking I have to wait for bad weather and possible pixelation :D

How many channels can the IceBox record subject of available tuners of course?

FWIW, I tried to switch viewing to a different channel and a message came up in the upper right corner of the screen telling me that it could not allocate hardware. Yes, I had something like 8 recordings and overlaps across 4 broadcasters at the time.

If you have run out of tuner capacity, you get a warning message on the screen.

It does not tell you how the allocation is going, just that you have run out.

You can access the TVHeadend data by going to http://<icebox ip address>:9981/extjs.html#, in your web browser.  Obviously you need to insert the IP address of the IceBox on your own network.

If you search through the Configuration section, you will find many of the answers you are looking for - though I don't recall seeing anything about signal quality.  You can definitely see how many tuners there are, what they are currently doing (i.e. allocation), and if there have been any data errors in your recordings.

The IceBox is definitely capable of recording at least 12 (and possibly more) timers simultaneously - across a maximum of 4 networks.  12 is the most I've tried, and it handled it easily.  It's almost certainly capable of doing more, I just haven't felt the need to test it with more.

When you add a new tuner you should verify it is activated correctly configured. Many USB tuners support both DVB-C and DVB-T; for the IceBox you need to make shure that DVB-T is selected. [Beyonwiz T2 has a habit of misconfiguring it tuners - having DVB-C active rather than DVB-T. Fortunately the IceBox does not in my experience do that.]

In early builds tuners were recginised without habing to reboot the IceBox, not sure if that is the case with the current build.
IceTV: IceBox + BYOB IceBox + 2xTRF-2400 + 2xTF7100HDPVRtPlus + SKIPPA [RIP] + T2 + U4 + V2
No IceTV: a few Toppys and T2
Synology NAS

You can ascertain SNR and Signal Strength from the TvHeadend configuration Status|Stream tab. Access to configuration is explained elsewhere in this thread.

Thank you, I am in.

IceBox did a great job sorting all out. I have 6 tuners correctly configured and working. I guess I got lucky with buying the BW dual tuner stick when they still had them. It shows to be identical to the tuners the box came with. Only way to tell them apart is the branding on the case.

Can't comment on that, I plugged them all in at the startup and had no chance yet to test.

Thanks, found it. Now I need to work out what the numbers mean :D
