The shorts for the Habibs look much better though, more like a copy of The Beverly Hillbillies

Very good comparison. It's probably how the writers pitched the show to the network. "A 2016 Aussie version of The Beverly Hillbillies with a lotto winning ethnic family as The Hillbillies.

The Habibs themselves behave like a cross between 'western suburb aussies' and '2nd generation new Australians'. 'New westies'?

Did you sell your Skippa or is it still available?

Thankfully we don't live in the USA. I would have though insurance companies here cannot sue anyone if there were no criminal charges filed by the authorities.

So is this an ICETV data problem or a Wiz T series problem?
It appears to be an icetv issue. Note that the t series (like some others) are on a different api/server to other devices. When it happens it appears to affect t series devices on a specific channel and in a specific region. I don't really know how it works but it seems as if the t3 server is not being updated with the correct data.

But doesn't the skippa use the same api/server as the t series bwiz & Phil (JPP) said his skippa was okay.

The old IceTV CEO is not working for the new IceTV or TV TV.

Where does this information come from.  It seems at odds with othere info we have seen e.g. Administrator's report.

The old IceTV's CEO was Heinz Hermann. The new IceTV's (TV TV's) CEO is Colin O'Brien.

Autoskip works fine as long as you have downloaded and installed the latest firmware 1.1.10604.

Yes it does. But even if my Skippa stopped working as a PVR I'd probably keep it as a Plex media player and for catchup TV. It is hands down the best catchup TV player I've tried.

Apparently they tested the Skippa with early firmware and didn't update it to the latest version (even though software updates is a feature of the box via a simple menu click).

How did the T3 beat the T4? Maybe they didn't like the T4 remote control. And somehow the T2, T3 and T4 each got different scores for their (identical) EPGs.

But we can all see that the CEO of the new company is the same as the old one.

The old IceTV CEO is not working for the new IceTV or TV TV.

I'm curious, What would you do in my position?

Maybe wait for those who didn't even receive their Skippa to receive their refunds before potentially jeopardising their refunds.

Or offer yours for sale without mentioning refunds.

It would not surprise me at all if this was the cause of many of the issues people are having, the heat sink after a few hours of operation is literally too hot to touch. My thermal infrared temp gun says it's running at a mere 84 degrees at the base of the heat sink, that's just totally unacceptable.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if this was in fact the cause of much of the rebooting.

Mark

Hmmm.. Maybe time for a liquid cooling solution :)

I was thinking the same thing. Currently I have 3 small fans on the top of the unit powered from the USB port (not sure how effective it is).

Ian

I was thinking of what old motherboards, video cards or PVRs do I have lying around that may have a suitable donor small heatsink+fan.

The one thing nobody seems to have mentioned about the T2 is that it has no front display. But since you have a DP-Lite at the moment you would be used to that.  It also uses a 2.5 inch laptop size HDD and an external power supply which is why it does without a fan. The T2 is a tiny box and very similar to the skippa in some ways. The fan on the T4 is very quiet and configurable between auto, on or off.

For me, I prefer the T3 remote, then the T2 remote and finally the T4 remote. Actually I prefer a Harmony remote.

The USB tuner made the T3 unreliable though it may be much better with the T2's extra CPU speed and extra memory.

Apart from transcoding the T4 also has a HDMI input. You can connect your Foxtel or fetch box etc or bluray player to the T4's HDMI input and stream the HDMI input to a phone or tablet or pc or smart TV etc. The HDMI input can also work as a HDMI switch allowing you to connect an extra HDMI device to your TV.

If you want to save a bit of money buy a barebones model Beyonwiz and install your own 1TB HDD.

we are loosing a great product that was set to do well against the big boys.

Apparently more skippas were sold in 3 months than other brands sell in a year.

In the last software update skippa became the first PVR to make use of all the available IceTV meta data in the guide feed (Series and Episode Numbers, Year, Repeat Status, Director, Actors, Country of Origin, Language etc. as well as the regular Title, Subtitle, Synopsis, Parental Rating and Closed Captions etc).

Despite being a long time IceTV subscriber with a registered e-mail address which successfully receives messages from IceTV, I haven't received any e-mails regarding the appointment of administrators, nor the latest query re: whether I would resubscribe to the EPG service. I've learned of both via the Beyonwiz forums.  ::)

I would express my interest in re-subscribing to the EPG service, but I have no e-mail and hence no link to click.

I wonder how many other people have also not received any communication and have absolutely no idea this is going on...

I was going to post the link from my email... but it includes a code that would link it back to my account. So basically everyone would be voting with my login details and those extra votes probably would not count as we probably can only vote once.

The following resub_query url with my id code removed takes me to a page that says to email admin@tphinsolvency.com.au

https://www.icetv.com.au/cgi-bin/webmembers.cgi?op=resub_query
Missing information from link, please contact admin@tphinsolvency.com.au

We need to vote or email admin@tphinsolvency.com.au by midday today (50 minutes from now). i.e. midday Tuesday 13 October 2015

, but I suppose all we can do is vote yes, which of course is not a binding contract or anything, so if we find out that any eventual arrangement is not to our liking, we can still decide not to sign up

I am afraid that if we all vote no, or abstain, than no one will be interested in taking it up, so we will end up being the at a loss
