Hi there,

I've got a long standing series recording set for 10 News which would normally give me the 5 pm evening bulletin only.  Lately they've added a noon and a 3:30 pm bulletin which gets included by this series recording.

is there any way to tie a series recording to a particular timeslot etc so that I only get the 5 pm evening bulletin and none of the other schedule-filler versions?

Pretty sure it's a one-off movie.  :-)

This was one of the items that featured in the IcePicks email.

IceTV EPG Content / 7.30 Report recorded in SD and not HD
November 25, 2022, 08:13:21 PM
(Beyonwiz T4, Brisbane metro area)

I've been slightly bothered that programs are being recorded in SD when I was quite sure that the HD version was also going to air.  Figured out that both the SD and HD versions  are listed at the same time, but the SD (ABC News) is the first item in the EPG list and thus the HD version is considered to be a repeat by a microsecond.

Wondering if it might be possible to adjust the order when the one program is on multiple channels at once so that the HD version gets precedence?

(I've done a manual fix to specify ABC HD as the only channel for the series recording, but the above image shows the listing order when doing a search for "7.30".)

When you launch the app and you see this message, and have to click the 'okay' button, it really gets in the way of using the app like you wanted to.  It's a speed bump and also feels a bit clunky.

What I would suggest as a solution is that you bypass this and instead go straight in to the UI screen at launch.  If the data needs to be downloaded, a thin progress bar across the very top can indicate the progress of this, and most people would intuitively pick up that this indicates something that needs to happen.

If you ordinarily need to prevent access to the TV guide or other sections until the data has arrived, those icons could be dimmed until their part of the data becomes available.

Given the speed of cellular data connections these days it should be a minimal wait, and further would become a more elegant app launch experience.

Aside from that, it's way cool to be able to use the app to trigger recordings.

IceTV EPG Content / Hey Hey it's not there yet
October 04, 2021, 08:27:01 PM
The 50 year special is supposed to be Sunday 10th per https://www.973fm.com.au/entertainment/return-date-for-hey-hey-its-saturday-confirmed-for-50-year-anniversary-show/

Ch 7's schedule (looking at Brisbane) is still TBA for the 7pm slot.

I'm in the Brisbane region and clicked through from the weekly IcePicks email to select Maleficent for recording.  When selecting the recording type on the IceTV web interface I saw that it would not be selected as a single item, only a series.

See screen shot attached.

Sometimes the networks will advertise a late breaking program ahead of the broadcast slot info being pushed out to programme guides.  An example of this is "The Trump Show, 9HD Brisbane, 7:30pm, Tue" which last night was "To be advised".

Because I knew from free to air advertising for the program that it was going to be on Tuesday night at 7:30, I selected to have IceTV record it via the EPG service even though the info for the program was not yet updated on IceTV's guide.  I fully expected that the recording decision would hold and the program info merely updated.  It wasn't, and I have also checked directly with the timers list on my Beyonwiz T4 unit.

Could we please change the behavior in this situation?  There would be some people who see something advertised on the TV and set the 'TBA' to record on this basis and would naturally assume it to be done.

IceTV EPG Content / Agents of SHIELD suddenly M.I.A.

AoS is normally Monday night like clockwork.  Nothing showing for at least 7 days per the search function.

Anyone got knowledge on this?

Can't select a single episode recording as this option isn't available.  I'm looking at the first listing for this when you've clicked on the link (https://tv-guide.icetv.com.au/show/51943?utm_source=sendy&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=icepicks_179) in the IceTV email.  Actually, this listing isn't dated and may refer to the series in general.

The second listing in the EPG page is for the episode on 10 Bold, 5:30pm, Sun, 12 Apr 2020 (Brisbane region) and a single episode recording option is available.

Okay, maybe it's just me.

I've got a long-standing series recording for Nine's news bulletin ("National Nine News") which failed tonight on my recorder.  I see that in the EPG it's now called "National Nine News Sunday".

Not entirely sure how you can apply a technological fix so a changing title of a news bulletin doesn't inhibit it being included as usual in a series recording.  Love the EPG description, mind you.   ;)

IceTV EPG Content / ABC Media Watch stuck in 2017

"Australia's leading forum for media analysis and comment returns for 2017 ..."

Might need an update.   ;D

I serendipitously tripped over this one.

In my TV Guide for tonight, I was checking for the disappearance of A Current Affair (not a great concern) when I noticed that the Brisbane news bulletin was not necessarily appearing in the programme list.

If the time/channel is set to "Evening" you will see "National Nine News 9HD Brisbane" listed at 6:00 pm.

However, setting the display filter to "Nine Network" it does not appear (the 5pm and 7pm tennis items do) and even less items appear for the station specific "9HD Brisbane" display.

I'm sure there's a really good reason for this.  Looking forward to learning what it was.  :-)

PS.  Issue doesn't seem to be present for Wednesday night's EPG data.

For a long time I couldn't figure out why I was getting a random recording of a children's programme.

Caught it in my IceTV recordings list (before it was too late) and discovered that my keyword for recording "Orville" (for episodes of The Orville) was triggering the recording of episodes of Wallykazam! where the character "Norville" is mentioned in the description.

Such is life.

Listing has the option of doing a series recording.  Probably wrong considering that this is a movie.

Presently listed on IceTV EPG as "To Be Advised".  Advertised on Ch 7 today as the premiere event "Manhunt: The Stoccos".

Hope this helps (and that my recording will stick despite a pending change/update to the name of this programme).

IceTV EPG Content / Sunday Night BNE did not record
July 02, 2017, 10:23:10 PM
My regularly working settings are: All episodes, network 7, prefer high definition, record all, any time.

Both HD and SD broadcasts have the accompanying series recording icon greyed out with the program info stating "This show is part of a series recording but will not be recorded."

Any idea on what went wrong?  Thought I had my bases covered with this one.

I'm running a Beyonwiz T4 in Brisbane.  An internal software issue at IceTV?

All the best.

Was marked as a repeat in the EPG.  Thus, IceTV did not send it to my Beyonwiz T4 to be recorded.

It's in the Ice Picks email, but not in the EPG to be selected for recording.
