The link to "contact us" is broken (and ironically it says that if this link is boken please contact us. lol). Thank you for the help guys!!

Hi Justin,

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this. This has to do with problems redirecting once you get to a secure page ("https://..."), we are looking into this but its an extremely difficult problem to resolve. The link to the contact us page does work outside of the online store pages (ie when you are on a normal "http://...." page).

I have been offered a discount code for a years subscription (sent to my emails address), but when I go to subscribe using the discount code it says that I cannot use this discount code with my account!?! I am signing in with the same account that the discount was offered to. The doscount code is well within the expiry date.

Which IceTV UserID are you trying to use? This discount code system is certainly working and problems are normally caused if you have had more than 1 account registered with us. Please send through an email with the UserID you are trying to use (checking that it is the same that was on the email itself) via our Contact Us (http://www.icetv.com.au/contactus) page directed to IceTV Sales and I will personally look into the matter for you.

We certainly don't want you to miss out.

Cheers,

Guys I have purchased a renewal card from one of your resellers,  whereabouts on your website do you renew my subscription using a renewal card??

Simply go to www.icetv.com.au/prepaid to enter in the two unique activation codes printed on the subscription card in the fields provided.

This URL should be printed directly above the Card Number and Security code on your subscription card.

We are currently experiencing delays with our Customer Support as a result of very high volumes of support calls coming through our main 1300 654 803 number.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this and thank all those who are remaining patiently for their queries to be answered. Our regular level of support should resume shortly.

Cheers,

This may have been suggested before but how about providing IMDB links as part of movie descriptions in the online guides like Interactive? Links for TV series and other TV shows (where available) would be good.

Thanks for taking the time to pass on your suggestions. Actually this is something that we have bookmarked for early next year. Adding links to all sorts of relevant content & third party websites via the IceTV Interactive pages is a great idea and one that I am sure everyone will enjoy.

Expect to see this and a whole lot more in 2009!!!

IceTV EPG Content / Re: Regional content - Albury/Wodonga

We really need a seperate EPG for this region....

We apologise for any inconvenience caused for not being able to provide local guide data for all regional areas at present. We would certainly love to offer EPG coverage for as many regional areas across Australia as possible.

Our guide team are always trying to improve their offering in terms of regional coverage. Your request for a specific Albury/Wodonga guide has been raised with them and we hope to cover this specific region along with other regional areas one day in the future.

Unfortunately it is very difficult and extremely labour intensive for our small team to add areas to our existing coverage as we receive no support from the major commercial TV Networks or from their regional affiliates.

We compile our own independent EPG from the ground up without any assistance from the commercial TV Networks. We employ a team of people who independently research every show on FTA TV and compile the IceTV Guide from the ground up using our own internal method and systems. We receive scheduling information from the ABC and SBS but from no other TV Network.

Guide data is freely provided in many countries around the world by TV Networks and/or given to third party aggregators like IceTV in order to promote their TV line-ups, but unfortunately this is not the case in Australia. The TV Networks have been reluctant to provide their EPG data for sometime now, mainly due to concerns that viewers with digital recording devices such as media centre’s and PVR's can quickly and easily skip through advertising and watch shows in their own time.

If and when we are able to extend our service coverage to Albury/Wodonga we will notify everyone of the change so that those interested can adjust their IceTV Guide region accordingly.

Rest assured, we will continue to look to add additional areas in our EPG coverage where possible.

I just purchased the 12 month subscription with the discount. :)

Just in time... the $49 deal will end very shortly as there are only a few uses of the discount code left. Congratulations to those that were able to take advantage of the offer and we look forward to providing you all with our award winning service for years to come.

Shame i'll probably miss out on the discount offer though..  I'll see how it goes once I have a new CC.

Great offer though.. Hope it can be extended a while. ;)

Hi gleff, the discount deal is probably going to be all used up by then based on the fact that the first 500 went within a few hours and even after extending the offer to a further 1000 customers, there are not many left.

Regardless, we certainly don't want you to miss out given your circumstances. So if the deal has finished by the time you are ready, please contact a member of our team on 1300 654 803 and point them to this forum thread and they will offer you your own personal discount code.

Thanks for the awesome offer IceTV  :D I took it up straight away without hesitation.

Great Offer guys - much appreciated!
I've taken the liberty of telling a few close friends over on Whirlpool  ;D - that should help get those 500 subscriptions sold!

It is our pleasure and we can't thank you all enough for your continued support. The 500 went in just over 4 hours. So we have now extended it by another 1000 in the hope that everyone can get a chance to take advantage of this great offer.

It is great to see the wider community supporting the local little guy in all of this. We might not havie the marketing dollars that Freeivew and TiVo have at their disposal... but we certainly have the customer's interest at heart.

Thanks again and Merry Christmas.

Cheers,

mattk

The response to our $49 deal has been overwhelming. After just over 4 hours... all 500 activations of our discount code were used up.

So to give some other people a chance and spread the Christmas joy even further, we have decided to now extend the offer to another 1000 customers.

For instuctions on how to take advantage of this great offer and for the necessary discount code ... visit the News section of our website.

A terrific offer - well done. I think that at the $1 per week (or slightly less now at $49 per year), you've reached the critical acceptance point for a subscription. Here's hoping that this will fire up many people that have been sitting on the fence to take the plunge.

Thanks JPP. Our pricing is often an issue for some customers and we regularly offer discount promotions on subscriptions via emails, forum posts, magazine competitions and so on in order to give these customers a chance to get IceTV at a greatly reduced cost. Obviously today's Christmas deal is a good example of this.

We would love nothing more than to lower the cost of our subscriptions but unfortunately our internal costs to produce the IceTV EPG without any cooperation from the major and regional commercial TV networks is still very high and labour intensive, in addition to the cost of continually adding new and exciting features to constantly evolve our service for users.

The cost of our 12 month auto-renew product has indeed changed to $49 during the time of this promotion, but will then default to the regular $89 price point as you have seen in your My Account settings. The message that you saw was automatically generated by our system using the price of the 12 month auto-renew product and was an error that has now been fixed.

We apologise for any confusion or inconvenience caused. Who knows, if we keep seeing a response like what we have seen today then perhaps the $49 price point will remain for much longer. At this stage we are looking like we will have to extend the offer to another 500 customers so that everyone has a chance to take advantage of the deal and save some cash this Christmas

Now Smarthouse is quoting IceTV having a 14 day EPG
http://smarthouse.com.au/Home_Cinema/Set_Top_Boxes/W4R7T5M7

Unfortunately this information is incorrect (at least for the foreseeable future anyway). As much as we would love to provide a 14-day EPG, with the limited resources we have and with no cooperation with the TV Networks this is virtually impossible.

With the ever changing program schedule and constant reshuffling by the TV Networks, anything more than 7-days can become extremely inaccurate.

But with features like Series recording and the newly released Keyword based recording via IceTV Interactive, the need for a longer EPG is arguably becoming less and less, as we can do the work for you.

Save some cash this silly season by grabbing an IceTV subscription for another year for less than half the normal retail price.

Significantly enhance the functionality and experience you get from your IceTV Interactive compatible PVR, media centre PC or Mac TV tuner for less than a $1 per week, by subscribing for another year for only $49.

Be one of the first 500 customers to take advantage of this early Christmas gift form IceTV.

For instructions on how to take advantage of this great offer and for the discount code needed... please visit our website.

Merry Christmas from everyone at IceTV

Unfortunately there is nothing we can add to this at this stage.

Moving forward, we are always going to keep our options open and remain platform agnostic by offering our service to as many different devices as possible. By continuing to release more and more unique features as part of IceTV Interactive we are constantly adding greater functionality to the devices that support our service and thereby enhancing the experience for users.

We welcome any opportunity that may present itself whereby we can have greater control over the user interface (UI) and the features offered on any platform. Until we have total control over the (UI) or have direct input over the hardware related features we will always be limited in what we can offer customers.

2009 will see many new entrants into the PVR / DVR / Media Centre space, with many shapes and sizes being made available to consumers to choose from. We have already seen a "crippled TiVo box" enter the market, now we have an encrypted Freeview EPG with Freeview branded PVR's without certain features, Sony's PlayTV and the so called "TiVo Killer" PVR from iiNet, all coming soon!!!

With the features we provide within IceTV Interactive, the IceTV Widget and our hugely successful iPhone App... We are proving that we not only understand what the user wants in terms of functionality and control over how they consume their favourite shows on TV, but we have the ability to present it in a sleek and stylish manner.

Additional forms of Content will certainly play a major role in any PVR offering and our intentions are again to offer something unique to users.

We will let everyone know of any new developments as they come to hand or when ready..... So stay tuned.

Regards,

mattk

Unfortunately we no longer sell the IceBox2 Wireless Access Bridge for Topfield TF5000 PVR devices due to the manufacturer discontinuing this product line and not offering any suitable replacement models.

Many new PVR's being produced are coming with wired and wireless options and of course are High Definition also, meaning the demand to support these older SD PVR's is also decreasing. For example the new Topfield TF7100HDPVRt PVR and the Beyonwiz range. With these new PVR's, you can also remotely set individual episodes or the entire series of your favourite TV shows to record via our website, custom mobile phone site and more. Go to www.icetv.com.au/about to find out more.

Having said this, we are constantly on the lookout for alternative options for TF500PVRt customers. Unfortunately at this point in time we have been unable to find something suitable.

We have heard of some users selling their IceBox2's on eBay as they have upgraded to a newer PVR, but these are obviously few and far between.

Hopefully someone answers your call.

Hi Matt, are you aware of any nefarious attempt by the "freeview" mob to use something other than unencrypted EIT to provide the EPG for "Freeview" boxes?

If you look at what happened in NZ with Freeview as well as obviously Freeview in the UK and beleive the rumours that are floating around here... then 'Yes'.... Freeview will use MHEG as an encrypted format or something similar to deliver it's EPG information to Freeview boxes. So boxes that dont support MHEG will go without... unless of course the TV Networks are nice enough to continue to deliver unencrypted EPG data via the EIT(a full 7-days that is). But then why would you buy a Freeview box?
