Forced EPG refresh

So we haven't watched much TV and therefore Icebox lately, too busy with visitors, weddings and other mundane things so took a while to notice that the EPG only shows  partial information.

Bit of searching later the solution supposed to be to go to IceTV add on and select "Refresh EPG" to force a full refresh.

This is not present on the latest firmware (12.2.2?) so all I could do was to clear the cache. That fixed the EPG on the mobile app but not on the Icebox.

From memory, this used to fix the Icebox too pretty much right away, but this time, 10+ minutes later, nothing yet. There is some data for the SBS food channel, but everything else is empty.

ANy suggestions?

That depends on how technical you are.  I do this:

SSH to the IceBox.
systemctl stop kodi.service
nano ~/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/service.icetv/settings.xml
Set 'last_run' to 0.
Save and exit.
systemctl start kodi.service

This will tell the IceBox to reload ALL of the EPG.

Use with caution.  This method may void your warranty.

I assume that rebooting the IceBox did not fix this problem.

I have a dim recollection that the "Refresh EPG" option was removed in the expectation that such issues with EPG had been fixed in subsequent firmware. @Daniel Hall may have something to say about this.
IceTV: IceBox + BYOB IceBox + 2xTRF-2400 + 2xTF7100HDPVRtPlus + SKIPPA [RIP] + T2 + U4 + V2
No IceTV: a few Toppys and T2
Synology NAS

A reboot will reload the EPG, either via holding the remote on/off button down and choosing the option or via the on/off symbol at the top left of the home screen beside the settings cog.

Cheers to all. Starting with a reboot. SSH will be plan B if needed.

How long is it supposed to take? We now have about 15 minutes elapse with only the aforementioned food channel and NITV show up but nothing else followed suit.

We are now hours later. Still nothing.

I  got into Tvheadend and the EPG displays fine in there. That must be some issues between Kodi and Tvheadend I would think.

Any other tips? Might have to rise a ticket for this if it doesn't get solved today.

It sounds as if you have lost your internet connection.  Usually a reboot reconnects but as it sounds like you've done one go to Settings - LibreELEC - Network. If you are wifi switch the little on/off slider off, wait a few seconds then on again and you should see the IceBox reconnecting.  If you are wired Ethernet check all connections.

That is not it.

I can get into Tvheadend from my laptop on the same network and see all the EPG data, but nothing from that is showing in the guide on the Icebox.

I have the box on wired network with nothing disturbed or changed so safe to say connections can be ruled out.

Yes going to your account, now I'm home,I can see the IceBox is connecting and fetching EPG data and recordings are set. Does your timer list show set recordings as they are all confirmed by our servers?

Daniel our Technical Manager is away until Monday so it may have to wait until then but if your recordings are happening then you could continue via our app or website.  Conversely try a soft reset albeit a hassle.

Hati

Thanks for the (very prompt) response.

While we were watching some recordings, the EPG recovered. My wife just said that the EPG was gone from the app too, but that came good when I cleared the cache on the Icebox.

So we are back to normal, no need to lodge a ticket. Thanks again for the assist, very much appreciated.

I'm not going to pretend to be any kind of guru, I am not.
But, try checking the cable connections to any tuners / splitters / antenna ports.
A loose connection at one of those has caused me issues before.
I also suggest after doing so to perform a "soft" reset.
A bit of a hassle but will retain any recordings you have whilst allowing you to  enter all network, IceTv account details again, making sure they are correct.
And following the "set Up" instructions on web site, confirm other initial settings are as they should be.
hope this helps.
