For the last two days, my IceBox has been unresponsive in the morning. I have to do the 5 second press of the power button to reboot it, whereupon it boots normally. It has worked flawlessly since my last post on the lockups thread. Has anything changed software-wise this week?

As far as I can work out there have been no changes in the IceTV and TVHeadend add-ons in recent days. The IceBox firmware  itself has not been updated for several months.

Not aware of any setting which would cause the IceBox to shut down (rather than going into standby mode).
IceTV: IceBox + BYOB IceBox + 2xTRF-2400 + 2xTF7100HDPVRtPlus + SKIPPA [RIP] + T2 + U4 + V2
No IceTV: a few Toppys and T2

After much testing we have concluded the problem is that every IceBox of our current batch has a faulty SSD, albeit the problem was obscure and difficult to reproduce.

We will replace every customer's SSD.

If the customer is happy to do it themselves, as it only involves removing the IceBox base with four screws, unplugging the old SSD and plugging in the new one, we will send the new SSD to them. The new SSD will have been preconfigured by us with the correct BIOS preferences and IceTV software preloaded. The customer will just need to login as they do now after a soft reset.

If they prefer they can send the IceBox back to us, we will copy all the recordings from the old SSD to the new one then return it, so apart from about a week's turnaround time, it will now work reliably with old recordings and new ones coming up as their IceTV account sets them up when it logs in again.  We have just purchased the cloning device for the copying.

We may also have a cloning solution that users can do in their own home using the IceBox as the PC and all it will need is the purchase of a USB3 to SATA cable so the new drive can be connected to an IceBox USB3 port (the blue inside one) and a USB stick loaded with the Ubuntu OS used to reboot the IceBox.  Then Ubuntu's own cloning software can be used to clone from the IceBox internal SSD to the new one, connected via the cable.  Daniel just needs to do a little research and a test and, if OK, we'll post the procedure in detail. The cloning would take some hours so needs to be done outside "recording time" but obviously benefits from not losing your IceBox for a week.

Last week, after much tooing and froing as to the responsibility for the failing SSDs, IceTV decided to simply pay for them ourselves to save any more time and customer disruptions. We have ordered them from the manufacturer and expect to have them, subject to freight and customs, in less than two weeks.

This has been a horrid time for all involved and I'd hope we'll soon be over it with customers enjoying the IceBox as we always hoped. Then we can get down to smoothing out some clonky setup UI wrinkles and add more exciting features such as auto ad skipping.
