If you have an older IceBox with the original remote do yourself a favour and get the new swanky one ... it is so nice!

No more one click becoming multiples, pressing and pressing with no result just a nice clean reliable remote experience.

Really!!!! :-) and I am a grumpy old programmer with nothing to do with the company

We are always happy to replace any wonky original ones with the same model but we simply can't afford to replace that first model with the new v2 one. Also the manufacturer of the original ones refuses to take any responsibility stating that they don't fail in their test environment:(

To get the production small volumes of remotes that we need has been really difficult as the manufacturers normally sell them in many thousands to major TV or STB companies who themselves are in much bigger markets than we are.  After many months of trying and finally finding a suitable replacement that is the V2 I had to nag the manufacturer repeatedly and accept a stinging price penalty to get them the make it for us. Nevertheless, albeit we make minimum margin, the end result is a huge improvement and well worth the update cost.

Please note that the wild movement across the screen can be due to a flat battery as being wifi so not needing to be pointed at the IceBox is does chew through batteries.

Yeah small run electronics you can't win ... their test environment probably doesn't take into account other devices and just the normal funky stuff that happens in the 'real world'.

Anyway I was quite happy to stump up for a better controller and I was just letting people know that if they would like a better experience the new one is really worth it!

Yeah I realise, but even with fresh batteries the old one never seemed quite right. New one magic!

Just an observation.
I have the Remote 2. was working seamlessly, no issues.
I attached an external HDD to the IceBox to use as a server of an extensive video library.. No problems.
The external drive also acts as a USB hub with 2 USB 3 ports available.
I attached another external drive to 1 of the ports and all worked as expected. I could use both drives content to "stream" to wanted devices.
So... out of curiosity I attached another drive to the second USB port on the first external drive/hub.
All content was available and able to be accessed by wanted devices,...but here is the crux.
The Remote 2 immediately started having the same issues as the original remote.
Delays, jumping , flickering, no response.etc. And yes brand new batteries installed.
I disconnected the 2nd drive from the hub and remote is back to working as before.
First HDD/hub was external powered, as was second. Third a portable.
My only conclusion (based on my very limited knowledge of these things) is that the USB ports on the side of IceBox work on the same BUS and the WiFi dongle for the remote was conflicted/confused/ not getting the correct power??Hmmm.
