Nope I'll have to tell TEDS-ICE not to search descriptions anymore but thats perfect imo, thanks very much for your efforts Peter!  8)

What date will this take effect from?

I'll canvass a few opinions before we adopt this scheme. from past experience, there will be some unforseen consequences... series recordinsg that have been scheduled on the old title, for example.

I think that the only issue will be for TEDS-ICE users having to un-select the "search descriptions" option in each motor sport related favorite - I doubt very much that anyone has scheduled a favorite that records every single "SPORT: Motor Sport" as that is a massive dragnet including all forms of Car & Bike Racing.

Most folk are likely to have particular favorite types of Motor sport eg: some people like Bikes and aren't interested in cars, some folk might like F1 & WRC but not Champ Cars etc.

My concern is that the same data is now used by about a dozen different types of PVRs, so I want to think through the consequences for the others.

A mass email would be the best way of notifying every one - judging by other ppl's comments I would think this will be universally welcomed no matter which "PVR" ppl have.

At time of writing this post, not one person out the the 354 reads of this Topic have disagreed with "fixing" the Motor Sport "tags" - I'd say this bodes well.  :)

EDIT: it occurred to me that even if someone did want to record all "Motor Sport" events ever broadcast on FTA TV, this change wouln't prevent it at all.

The only change ppl need to make on any PVR is for their "Season Pass" (to use a TiVo term) to be set to search the Show Title instead of the Description - it's my understanding that all PVR's with "season pass" functionality actually do default to searching the show title.

Hi Peter,
seeing as the responses have all been positive - can you please tell us when this change will be made?

Btw, the last 2 weekends I noticed a problem with Rage on the ABC for Saturdays mornings - basically because the show started late friday night, the next day (midnight+) there is no guide info till 11am when Degrassi High starts on my Toppy. Any chance that this could be looked at?

The change has already been made, I have started seeing new motorsport timers appearing for next Sunday, yay!
Regards
Tony

Beyonwiz DP-S1 & Topfield 5K (using PerlTGD to upload ICE EPG/timers for the 5K, normal ICE interactive for the Wiz).

Yes I noticed that but they are still inconsistent, we had:

Motor Sport: Australian Rally Championship

as well as

SPORT: Motor Sport
(motor bikes - might have been superbikes im not sure)

any way Im happy with the changes as this weekend seems to be quite consitent.  8)
