And now for extra weirdness, I got 2 new Rage timers show up tonight that weren't there this morning! Why weird I hear you ask? well weird cause a/ they aren't in my ICE series record list, b/ they aren't in my MCE series record list & c/ I was able to delete them with ICE PIMP but new queued timers still wont upload!!!!  ???  ???  ???

The "Unable to read beyond the end of the stream" error generally comes up after the info for a particular task corrupted when cached on the hard drive.

The best way to re-initialize the cache get remote working again is to clear out the cached files on the hard drive.

To do this:

  • Close the PIMP client.
  • Go to the directory "C:\Users\{Your userid}\AppData\Roaming\IceTV\PIMP my MCE\" and remove the "tasks" directory
  • Re-open the PIMP client and the next update it will re-cache all the tasks on the machine and also correctly download the waiting tasks from the server.
Regards,

Daniel.

HTPC bios all better but Im still getting weirdness with ICE despite deleting the "tasks" directory.

eg phantom timers and timers not being set ???  ???

checking the log file I notice thes msg's:

Server Update Times:
MT_SEND_SCHEDULER_STATE: 4/06/2007 12:08:18 AM
MT_GET_CHANNELS: Unknown

and yet all the listings are showing in the guide correctly etc ??

and also:

-Message
 - DeviceID: 0
 - MessageTypeID: MT_SEND_SCHEDULER_STATE
 - IsRequest: False
 - IsError: True
 - NewFormat: True
 - ProtoVersion: 2
 - AppVersion: 107
 - AppName: ICELINK PIMP SERVER
 - MessageWait: 9
 - MessageCookie:
 - StatusMessage: Request ignored because it's being made too often.
 - - - - SendSchedulerStateReply
 - - - - - _task_count: 0

the task count concerns me, 0 ???

UPDATE: I've re-run the Guide setup in VMCE and the guide works great, but again no timers are being uploaded. ???

PS, no phantom timers have shown up yet.

All solved, I applied the Patch and Reghack from here http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/community/vista-epg-discussion-support/19002-disableupdatediscsvc-key.html and now PIMP works properly! :D
