account name required to be email ?

I recently had to reload the Iphone application on an Iphone 4S I now can not access my account.  Seems that the application now expect that a valid account name must be an email address.  Is there a way around this being that my account name (being now 3 years old) is not an email address ?.  Getting frustrated....

It's asking for the email address that is associated with your IceTV account.

Your account should include a minimum of 3 bits of info:
- Your IceTV username (aka member ID).
- Your IceTV password.
- A valid email address.

If you can't remember what email address you used when you joined IceTV you log in to your account with your username and password and change the email address here:

The was what I thought it would be but to no avail.  When I enter the email associated with the account and the account password it reponds with not valid.

The email address in your IceTV account is your Australian hotmail account. I have just emailed your password to that account. Though looking at your account it appears that you now have it working.

PS The reply from your support ticket was sent to your AAPT email address.

Thanks for the feedback, however the account is only working from the login wia webpage.  Iphone app still not enabling me to record.  The old email address (aapt) is not associated with the account, and does not exist to log in to.  Whilst the hotmail one will enable me to log in it does not get any further.

That would be because you have 2 accounts - 1 paid and 1 free - and the iPhone is logged in to the free account.

The paid account's email is hotmail.com.au
The free account's email is hotmail.com

I have deleted the free account now. If the hotmail.com.au email address is not correct you should sign in to your paid account - using your username and password - and change the email address. http://www.icetv.com.au/cgi-bin/webmembers.cgi?op=editDetail

Then use that email address, and your IceTV password, to sign in with the iPhone app.
1. Tap Settings
2. Tap Deauthorise Phone
3. Tap Authorise Phone (or press the phone's back button)
4. Sign in with the email address and password (do NOT create a new account)

nice catch there.  I looked at the account many times and did not notice the au.  It was when the login failed that I created the account on the phone to see if that would make a difference (no real surprise that it did not, especially seeing the typo that I made)

I had the same prob with the android app recently, I have been using tonymy01 forever, but suddenly it was asking me for the account email which I had no clue which of my 5 email accounts I was using for ICE... took quite a bit of time to get logged into the app and up and running!

I have the same issue with the iphone app only recognising my free account. As I must have a free and paid account using the same email address, I don't know how to cancel the free one so it only logs into the paid account. Any help?

You can close an account as long as you know the account name and password you can log in and delete the account by clicking on the 'Close my account' link near the bottom of the Account Details tab under My Account.

Otherwise just contact support and let us know the email address in your account and we'll delete the old, expired or free account that is causing the problem.
