IceTV EPG Content / Re: War of the Worlds

SBS announced it earlier in the year, then delayed it for several months.

Is it possible that the problem is related to what I reported in this thread?

Series timer, IceTV web interface says that the timer was sent, no timer appeared on the T2.

It's happened again.  Same show, consecutive episodes.  IceTV website says that the timer has been sent, Android App says it hasn't, Beyonwiz T2 has no timer for the show.

What is going on here?  Why has this happened, to the same show, 2 weeks running?

Hmmm- we have had the show confirmed as set by the T2 hence the "solid" red dots but at 10:22 on 10 June it confirmed back to IceTV that it had been completed. That would be a hiccup with the T2. I can't re-schedule it as our servers have it already set and confirmed. Is the Android app updated which can take a few seconds and are the dots "hollow" red ones or grey?  Simple solution is to reset it manually on the T2.  I've asked the guide team if it was rescheduled but no reply yet as they are probably finished for the day.
Thanks.  I'll deal with it manually.

General Discussions / Timer with different symbol - Android vs Web
« on: June 13, 2020, 02:39:00 PM »
Prime 7HD, Canberra (ACT)
10pm, Tuesday 16th June

I have a series timer set to record this show.
  • According to the IceTV web interface, the timer has been sent.
According to the Android App, the timer is Queued but hasn't been sent.
There is no timer for this show on the Beyonwiz T2.

I suspect that the show had a change of start time, and that things somehow managed to get confused during the process.  I could fix the problem manually, but I would prefer it if the fix was sent from the server end.  Any idea why I'm seeing different timer icons on Android vs Web interface?

Hi Vader
Thanks for your note. This episode has now been corrected.
Cheers Gai
Thanks Gai, looks much better now!

Shakespeare & Hathaway
ABC (Canberra - but probably elsewhere as well)
7:30pm, Saturday 6th June

IceTV is currently listing the episode title as "Series 8: Episode 7".  Shakespeare & Hathaway doesn't even have 8 seasons...

The episode is actually Series 3 Episode 2, titled "See Thyself, Devil!".

it didnt record & i didnt get a recording clash email. thanks for checking
It recorded fine on my T2, however, it didn't appear in the My Week listing until several days after the 2nd episode (Me You Him Me).

The 10pm episode (Me You Him Me) appeared in My Week on Wednesday 21st, as expected.  The 9pm episode (The Emily Show) didn't appear until Friday or Saturday (at the earliest).

You usually see that when the episode is marked as a repeat, and your series recording is set to "new episodes only".

That said, IceTV does throw up the occasional curly one, where there is no discernable reason why a program should be marked as "will not be recorded".

General Discussions / Re: Number in brackets

I haven't been able to find an explanation for this. What is the four digit number in brackets after the programme title in the My Week listing?
Intially I thought it was the year of the  programme but there are too many that do not correspond.
E.g. Madame Secretary (2014) the current series is 2019, so that can't be it. However MS began in 2014,so is that it?
Another example Great American Railroad Journeys (2029) can't be the year of release!
Current series of Better Homes and Gardens on Friday night (1996)?
It's got me puzzled.
The bolded bit is correct - it's the year in which the series began.  This is to differentiate between series with the same name, specifically re-makes (e.g. Hawaii Five-O and MacGyver).

Saw them in there this morning.  Great work, thanks!

My phone is now running v2.31, and I'm still not seeing any of the timers for Tuesday 24th March (i.e. timers which have not yet been sent).

Smart Recording on Android / Android App not showing all recordings

Android IceTV App v2.29

For some reason the app is only showing timers which have been sent to the devices.  It's not showing timers which are in that 6-7 day window, which appear on the IceTV website but haven't yet been sent.

For example, one of my T2s is scheduled to record "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" and "Stateless" on Sunday night.  I can see these timers on the website, but they're not showing up in "My Week" in the app.

IceTV EPG Content / Re: Tony Robinson's Hidden Britain By Drone
« on: February 20, 2020, 11:51:30 AM »
I suspect that they do it because they know that Tony Robinson has good name recognition, and that more people will watch it if they attach his name to it.  Let's face it - the audience for a show titled "Hidden Britain by Drone", in Australia, would be miniscule, without the Tony Robinson factor.

That said... it is highly annoying!
