Beyonwiz / Re: Beyonwiz T3
« on: April 12, 2014, 07:21:31 AM »
I don't know who was being pig headed in the negotiation - but the upshot of this news is I have cancelled my preordered T3.  It had such potential but  I don't want to use two different solutions for recording things - and IceTV just works.

Hi Russell Thanks for looking at it. It's a small inconvenience to put up with for the major enhancements we just received - so long as its somewhere on the to do list down the track.

Small point that I thought was just on the web version but its the same on iphone. I normally have a quick look at upcoming to see what is scheduled just in case I have missed something. I have two Beyonwizs - now I have to check both from the device drop down and remember what is on each list. Could we have an "All" option in that list please just as there is on the My shows screen?

We really do need a "Prefer HD" option now - not "at some point in the future".

I used to be able to set and forget - now with 7 and 10 killing their prime time simulcasts I have to set to "any channel" which means its either "set and get 2 copies" or "set and miss" because the Wiz was already recording 2 copies of another show.

I know that this has been mentioned many many many times but enough is enough - isn't this a core function?

IceTV EPG Content / Re: Burn Notice - guide doesn't match adds

Yes thanks for that update Daniel - now we know the strange things we have seen (rarely) have an explanation and its great to read that you are on to it.

Can you let us know when it is resolved so that I can stop double checking the timers  ;)

Hi. I'm not shy about saying I'd be guessing at an answer to that but .... our tech guys WILL have answers for you. I've forwarded this to them. Let me know on this thread how it goes for you please. Cheers.

Hi Mitch

Did you get an answer for this from the tech guys?

Thanks for that Bruiser - I'll keep an eye out there

Come on - surely this is a really simple question for ICE/Beyonwiz to answer. We've had some guesses (including some fairly informed ones) on the other forum. But a simple definitive answer from ICE would be nice.
If a show changes in a timeslot will ICE tell Wiz to dump the previously scheduled recording and replace it with a new one?

I missed the first half of burn notice which changed from a 10 pm start to a 9:30 pm start at some point after interactive had set my timer.

Someone else has posted that ICE  updated the schedule at about 11am the day of the show.

I am a little complacent now and just rely upon ice to catch and schedule changes. I can put this one down to "oh well things dont always work out" but I wanted to make sure that I didn't have a fundamental misunderstanding about the technology.
I have set a couple of view only timers - one at 4pm (35 min) and one at 6:45 pm (16 min) to catch late breaking ICE changes.

That's because I assume that if a show changes in a timeslot ICE will tell Wiz to dump the previously scheduled recording and replace it with a new one.
That is how its supposed to work isn't it?

(I've posted this at the Wiz forum but thought I might ask the same here)

And to answer my own question about not being able to sync over Easter - if you use the correct password you don't have as many problems... :-[

General Discussions / Icebox2 Experiences So Far

Just my experiences. I set up the IceBox2 on Thursday and have been very pleased with it. I dont have a lot of experience with network setup but muddled my way through. I cant work out how to download files from the toppy using the file manager but ftp with  FileZilla works fine. It seems to download on my network at about 530 kB/sec but if I turn the toppy off during a transfer it shifts to about 690 kB/sec. The transfers are slow but the trade off is that I can do them now overnight without mucking around with cables. The downside of the second mode is that it will only download the first file in the FileZilla queue at the higher speed before realising that the topp is in standby and stopping the transfer. I dont know if there is an issue with the error checking on big files- I transferred one file from the toppy to the computer then changed the file name and sent it back. It wouldnt play all the way through. I transferred it back to the Toppy a second time and it did work that time. I understand that the file transfer is still Beta.
'Very happy with the 7 day guide. I fiddled with a couple of epg viewers and so far have found the JustEpg is the best for me. All up very happy with the $219 purchase. Of course I am having a problem today - I cant get a manual or automatic fetch of the iceguide to work. I am getting this response from the icebox when I try an epg fetch    /bin/sh: echo: Argument list too long /bin/sh: echo: Argument list too long
time sync fail
I dont know if that is because of my fiddling with the settings or if there is an ice problem over Easter - perhaps the epg has only been updated to Friday night (?)- we'll see tomorrow.
