IceTV EPG Content / 7Two Melbourne Thursday 1-10-20 Late Change?
« on: October 02, 2020, 09:33:25 AM »
Was there a late change to the lineup on 7Two last night? Looks like it as my Toppys had a botched update (not an IceTV issue problem with the way Toppy firmware deals with updates), but no error on T2s but recorded wrogn programs. Looks like out by an hour. Fortunately I managed to recover the second episode of Murdoch as I had a 50+ minutes post buffer.

IceTV EPG Content / Tony Robinson's World By Rail - South America
« on: June 18, 2020, 12:51:04 PM »
I suspect this program (SBS last night) was not a repeat. [Ignoring the confusing caused by SBS renaming the program - the correct title appears to be "Around the World by Train" (with Tony Robinson).] That episode was the second in series 2. I got really confused since the first episode in both series 1 (1999) and 2 (2020) is Europe, so I deleted the episode shown the previous week as I thought I had already seen it.

Would it be possible to include the season and episode number in future. I was confused since imbd only has series one listed (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11609526/), however I managed to find details of series 2 (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv-programme/e/hpwmdh/around-the-world-by-train-with-tony-robinson-episode-guide/).

Program name does not match the content which is a Great British Railway Journey. Noticed it earlier in the week but failed to report it. SBS is doing this with monotonous regularity lately. Often with railway related programs.

IceTV EPG Content / Miss Scarlet and the Duke

As the program is filmed in Ireland and set in London I doubt that it is properly categorized as American.

This is a really weird one.  Last night one of my 2400s started spontaneously rebooting, then a 7100+ started doing the same thing. It was the reboot process like previously associated with too much EPG data before I culled the services being downloaded. I gave up trying to fix it and went to bed. This morning both 2400 and both 7100+ were doing it. Disabling Ice TV stopped the reboot cycle.

The odd thing is that the 5300, which is on a different IceTV account did not appear to do this. Did anything change last night at the server end?

The first account currently has 26 channels enabled and the second account has 27 channels enabled which does not help. However the 5300 has very few timers which may be significant.

Edit: Disabling IceTV seemed to stop the rebooting. I have disabled duplicate LCN 2 and 7 (9 previously disabled). Will report progress.

The is an inconsistency on the guide data for Great Indian Railway Journeys, SBS HD Saturday 2 May 2020. The program description is:
Kiev To Odessa
With his Bradshaw's 1913 Continental Railway Guide in hand, Michael Portillo ventures east .....

SBS seems to get confused as to which "@@@ Railway Journeys" is being shown - the content is usually more accurate than the Guide entry.

Beyonwiz / Same program recorded 8 times on T2 (NOT IceTV issue)
« on: April 15, 2020, 07:57:15 AM »
Last night my T2 recorded the Mentalist 8 times - all starting at the same time. Never seen anything like it before. Anyone else have this problem? WHoops, just noticed everything recorded multiple times yesterday. Other T2 did not exhibit this problem (fortunately).

IceTV EPG Content / Above Suspicion 26-03-20 + 02-04-20
« on: March 29, 2020, 04:48:35 PM »
According to the Ice TV EPG and the recording name the episode of Above Suspicion transmitted on 26-03-20 on 9GemHD Melbourne was "The Red Dahlia Part 1" (a season 2 episode) whereas it was in fact Part 2 of Above Suspicion, a season 1 episode (only 2 episodes in season 1). I thought it was odd that the second episode had not been shown when the "The Red Dahlia Part 1" was scheduled to be shown.

I assume that the error is due the error provided by Nine Network. I would expect that "The Red Dahlia Part 1" will in fact be shown in the coming week.

Recent changes to IceTV means that it is no longer possible to limit series recordings to a specified network. There are numerous programs that are transmitted on more than one network, Antiques Roadshow (ABC and Nine), Law and Order Special Victims (Ten and Nine), Cold Case (Nine and Seven), Extreme Railways Journeys (SBS and Seven). I can only select All LCNs or oneLCN when scheduling a recording.

This just does not work, as some programs are shown on multiple LCNs, for example Poirot, Miss Marple, Cold Case, can be on either 9Gem/9Gem HD or Nine/Nine HD.

The only good thing is the old timers retain their settings.

This makes things far more difficult for users! I am peeved. I am angry!

Addendum: As a result of this change I am getting numerous time conflicts because episodes I do not want to record are recording on a network that is showing episodes I have already seen. This is very annoying. I suspect there are others who have multiple PVRs and spread recording across them: in my case I record Nine and Seven on Topfield 2400 and ABC, SBS and 10 on my 7100+ are also have further issues. With my T2's it is ABC and SBS on one and Nine, Seven and 10 on the other.

This program has a running time of 135 minutes, whereas my recollection is that it should only run about half that time. The "repeat" on Wednesday afternoon 9Gem HD, 3:20pm, Wed, 11 Mar 2020, is only 70 minutes and is followed by a second episode, 'The Adventure Of The Western Star' at 4:30pm, with a 60 minute running time.

IceTV EPG Content / Tony Robinson's Hidden Britain By Drone
« on: February 20, 2020, 11:26:20 AM »
SBS is currently running the second season of what they claim to be Tony Robinson's Hidden Britain By Drone, however according to the producers of the program Windfall Films Ltd, the correct name is Hidden Britain By Drone - see http://www.windfallfilms.com/show/11451/hidden-britain-by-drone-series-2.aspx. Both imdb and Channel4 use the name sans the reference to Tony Robinson.

I would appreciate it if this could be corrected for future episodes.

PS I find the propensity of SBS to rebadge programs very annoying.

General Discussions / What is 7Mate HD Melbourn about?
« on: January 09, 2020, 03:55:25 PM »
Just did a rescan of one of my Toppys and it found 7Mate HD meblourne - coming soon. Is this "real" or is it a phantom. If real, will it be included in IceTV data?

Topfield / Daylight saving firmware bug - patched firmware now available
« on: January 01, 2020, 09:51:49 PM »
All my Toppys have lost the daylight saving time adjusgmnet. Presumably it happened a midnight on 31 December 2019. Still to confirm this is what is happening. My timers are all out by an hour.

Will investigate tomorrow and report back

Update Definitely a bug in the firmware. All you need to do is to turn off auto mode, and change the offset from 10 to 11 hours.

Update 2 Patched firmware is available via the oztoppy forum" https://oztoppy.forumchitchat.com/post/happy-new-year-pvrs-now-running-an-hour-late-10391840?trail=30.

Update 3 An updated DST fix firmware was release on 15 Jan 2020. In some instances the orginal fix was transitory rather than permanent.

The correct name for this series is Britain's Ancient Tracks with Tony Robinson. This is the name given in the recording.

Over the last week there has been several instances of incorrect episode titles and synopsis for Unforgettable. The episode on 29-07-19 was titled "Maps and Legends" but by writer and director credits appears to be "Till Death". "Maps and Legends" was transmitted last week (cannot remember if it had correct title and synopsis).

I expect that incorrect information was provided by Nine network. This happens from time to time particularly with programs scheduled late at night or early in the morning.

Not sure if anything can be done about it but it is important to be aware of sloppiness of Nine network in this regard.
