IceTV EPG Content / Re: Grand Designs Season/Episode numbering
« on: September 29, 2017, 12:17:19 PM »
Hi David
TVDB (while generally reliable) is a mess for Grand Designs. Strangely I've found the best record is Wikipedia. It's easy to search within the pages to find the, say, 11 episodes set in Hertfordshire all of which the ABC will helpfully title "Hertfordshire" despite each episode having an actual name!
Also each revisit episode cross references to the original episode and any other revisits (as some have been revisited more than once) - very handy.

I suspect the problem *partly* arises from TVDB's insistence that numbering be based on chronological air date instead of production numbering which does not play well for many series as other broadcasters will naturally air based on production numbering. I've certainly found that TVDB has completely bungled GD (though not GD (AU) or GD (NZ)), and has locked it.

Thanks Daniel and everyone for your help.

It would be great if season and episode numbers could be added to the website.

The availability of this info in Plex sways me to move to it, though I'm aware it is beta and there have been many issues. I wonder though whether a lot of those issues arise due to inadequate EPGs (i.e. not using quality services such as IceTV). So I'd like to use IceTV with Plex.

I wonder if there could be a category for Plex in this forum?

Topfield / Re: Display season and episode numbers on Topfield

Thanks prl

It would be great if someone could clarify whether the season and episode numbering appears in the feed to Topfield machines (though in reality it is only useful if there is a TAP that displays the data, which is my initial question)?

I am also interested to know whether the feed for Plex includes the season and episode numbering, and if so, does Plex DVR display it?

Thanks prl

Going to the JSON data will be a bit beyond me. I appreciate you directing me to this. I tried to analyse the Topfield disk using a Transmit mount but couldn't find the EPG data.

Unless there is a TAP unveiling the s00e00 data, and because you have indicated Beyonwiz doesn't display it my days of using a like PVR are coming to an end. (I had hoped the BW T series might hold the key).

It could be that the HD Homerun might display the data, and possibly in Plex DVR, but again it's not easy to find information about this.

Topfield / Display season and episode numbers on Topfield
« on: September 27, 2017, 05:47:21 PM »
In a separate thread (here: http://forum.icetv.com.au/iceforum/icetv-epg-content/5/season-and-episode-details/5761/), I was advised that IceTV does provide season and episode numbers for programs (where available) in its feed.

However this info does not appear on my Topfield 2400 (nor on the web guide; nor in the iOS app).

Is there a way to get the season and episode numbers to appear on a Topfield?

Is there a TAP which reveals this information?

Thanks

Ok thanks prl.

The season and episode info is there (where available).

It would seem that IceTV is choosing to not display this on the web version of their guide and in the iOS app. I am interested as to why this is the case when other guides do (including free ones)?

You have accessed some code which displays all the feed info. Is there some way I could access that? Do I separately need to subscribe to the XML feed?

As to the Topfield 2400, I'll re-post in that section of the forum as to whether there is a way of displaying the season and episode numbers.

IceTV EPG Content / Season and episode details

Does IceTV provide season and episode details: e.g. s01e01?

If so, I cannot find this information on:

1. the web based guide;
2. the iOS app; and
3. my Topfield 2400

Am I missing something, for example, do I need to install a TAP on the 2400 to see season and episode numbers?

My greatest wish is to have this info available.

Currently I go to the free Foxtel Guide app to obtain this information. It has always struck me as odd that I can get this information from a free source but not from the guide I pay a subscription for (unless, as hoped, I am missing something).

I am also interested to know whether the IceTV guide on either a HD HomeRun Connect or Plex DVR will display season and episode numbers? (I am considering this model for life after the Toppy 2400.)

Thanks

General Discussions / New recording set up: how does Limit work?
« on: January 31, 2017, 06:45:13 PM »
Hi

In the new recording set up on web and iOS there is a setting "Limit" with options Record All, 1 per Day, 2 per Day, etc.

If you select 1 per Day what happens in the following circumstance:

Screening today is:

Program A - s01e01 - Pilot
Program A - s01e01 - Pilot (a second time for the day)
Program A - s01e02 - Part 2

Will only the first instance of Program A (the Pilot) record?

Or

Will the first instance of each episode record (that is, Pilot and Part 2)?

I am unclear whether 1 per day refers to Program or specific Episode.

Appreciate any help.

A
