Yes I have the stupid SBS and 7 disappearing/going crazy every 2-3 days like most poeople but I was wondering what ICE TV have to say about the other errors in my PIMP's log? I have build 2.0.0.13. I have the following errors and warnings:

Windows Vista Media Center / Re: how do I re-install the guide data
« on: May 09, 2007, 08:19:18 PM »
Fixed this, I had to:

* run the un-installICEguideMCE registry file
* un-install PIMP
* reboot MCE (maybe this step wasn't necessary)
* install PIMP
* scan channel and setup the guide

not relaly acceptable I had to do all this though  >:(

"If you have a look on the Event Log screen are there any errors listed saying that is can't connect to the IceTV server"

I have the following errors on and off:

Request ignored because it's being made too often.

Couldn't match the specified channel in the downloaded IceTV channel lineup/program to the local MCE channel lineup.  Verify that your online configuration is correct.

"ensure that "Fix registry keys when changed is enabled","

This was disabled as it was by default, I have now enabled it.

"is the update frequency set to "Automatic"?"

Yes

Windows Vista Media Center / how do I re-install the guide data
« on: May 09, 2007, 07:43:14 AM »
Every week or so Vista MC says there is no guide to download and my data is getting more than 3 days old and when I try and setup the listings again it says theres no guide data avaiable for my region.

To get them back again do I have to, un-install then re-install PIMPmyMCE_Vista.exe every time

or

Run the old IceGuide4MCE.exe every time

?

BTW PIMP latest version is always installed, shoudlnt it be stopping this from happening.

I have the same issue ALL THE TIME,

* Loose channel 7 once a week or every couple of weeks,

* Loose SBS & SBS World News after MINUTES of putting it on the guide and attaching a ICE guide data stream to it. At best it lasts a few hours and its gone.

When I return to the edit channels list all the SBS related channels loose there channel number next to them and have a smaller number in the next column, really strange? I go and tick ALL SBS related channels, go look at the guide and no SBS channels are there. I go select ALL channels and everything is listed apart from SBS related channels.

I do NOT re-arrange my channels as i've heard this annoys the guide.

Come on ICETV / MS get a solution togther its killing us VISTA MCE USERS there are loads of us having this problem!

Thanks for the update.

So what would ICE recommend we should set our client to for now, 15 mins, 20 mins, 30 mins?

Hi Dan,

Firstly there is no way the client can automatically update, do you mean that you installed the latest version that is available on our website?

I seem to remember something saying a update is avalible for PIMP and to auto download?!?!?! If I DID go into a coma and download and install 2.0.0.9 where did I get it from, I cant see it anywhere on the forums about version 2.0.0.9??

As for Channel 7 changing, have you changed the channel order within Media Center? If so then this can cause the behavior you are seeing. If you select "Restore channel defaults" and then run through the "Edit Channels" and "Add Listings to Channel" steps of the setup again without changing the channel order then this shouldn't happen again.

I did exactly that I changed the channel order as sbs 2 (aka sbs world 'can I speak arabic' news) and abc 2 are way down the channels list so I always move them up. Doing a "restore channel defaults" like you suggested got all chan 7 references back but a p-p-p-pain in the ass. I have disabled the schedualed MCupdate task also.

Hi support,

1. My 2.0.0.6 PIMP client AUTO updated to the 2.0.0.9 client which I cant see any postings on either incidently and now it wont connect to the server to update.

When I click the 'Connection test' button  it says 'Communication failed with the supplied use infomation. The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.

I login to my account on the ice-tv site uaing the same account credentials fine and have also checked my account has not expired yet.

Has my PIMP client AUTO updated to an unreleased client that dosent work by mistake?

2. Also a couple of days after the PIMP client updated itself my Channel SEVEN has disappeared off my guide and when I go back into 'edit channels' it is greyed out and not selectable as if MCE is blocking it??

Please see 2 attached screenies

Any help please?

Now if I can only get the second tuner on a Dvico Dual digital card to work?

I know this sounds stupid but you HAVE plugged in the USB port on the back of your card?

The 2nd tuner for this card gets its power via the USB port and wont work if not plugged in.

Windows Vista Media Center / Re: So it begins...

Tell me about it! I had MCE 2005 setup so nice for about 6 months no problems (took me a while to get to that stage though) and now on the TV side of things Vista has been a complete pain!

The latest kick in the teeth is that half of my channels say 'No TV signal' and the other half the channels stop and stutter!

Hi all,

Im receving this 'Failure opening database connection ' error in my App log every few minutes

also a 'Exception opening connection to database.
Program Guide info not available. Data may be corrupt. Media Center could not load the Guide. Please restart the computer and try again.' after the first error and the only way to fix the problem is the reboot my MCE box every few days.  :-[

After rebooting the guide seems to download fine from ICE TV and updates nicely to the correct channels but after a couple of days my event lg is peppered in Red with these continuous errors again (See attached screenshot of eventlog). I dont have any other problems at all on all other areas of MCE.

I jphoned ICE TV nearly a month ago to see what they say and they reckon its a bug in MCE for sure that affects all MCE Roolup 2 box's using guides, even in countries that have offical guides avalible apparently!

Has anyone got any further in finding a solcution to this problem as it's meaning im having to reboot my MCE box every couple of days now. ???
