It is my primary TV schedule.
I keep two Widgets running, one set to "My Upcoming Shows" and one showing "TV guide".
I connect to the web manually and intermittently and update my TV recording schedule manually.
I use IceTV for advisory information only.

The Widget is fully recovered as well.

My Widget is also presently defunct as a result of the above.
Even though the Widget is no longer supported it was working yesterday morning.
I hope it's service will be restored when others are.

IceTV EPG Content / Re: EPG descriptions lacking?
« on: November 22, 2015, 01:24:09 PM »
The EPG descriptions used to be really informative -- now if you want that info, you have to look for it elsewhere, which for me makes paying an IceTV subscription rather pointless. :(

Agree that descriptions should be meaningful. But surely you use IceTV primarily for series recording and remote recording more so than episode descriptions.

I started using Ice via the Widget (remember the Widget?) and it is still what I use to warn or advise me when programs which I am interested in are in the current program schedule.
Some I watch, some I record as a series and some I record ad-hoc.
I don't have my recorder connected to the WWW.

So No, ... and No.

ps   I was very glad to see that the Widget updated the recent changes to SBS and am now more confident that it will handle the changes due at Nine.
I re-subscribed because it does what I want it to so I am happy to pay what I think it is worth to me.

General Discussions / Re: IceTV Resurrected
« on: October 18, 2015, 03:09:41 PM »
Bearing in mind all that has happened I am happy enough with the new arrangements.

I  subscribed in July 2008 at $99 pa. without expecting the price to fall, in fact I expected it to rise.
I expected then, that by now I'd have paid at least $700 in subscriptions but,  I've only paid $670.

I also bought a Skippa which I will not get - $423 lost on a punt on an early version of a product which I knew might not
meet my requirements,  as I bought it before all the specs were set.       My choice.

Had I waited I'd have found it would not have access to the FTA channel EPG as, at least,  a fail-safe;
I would not have bought it - my choice.
So I'm down about $400 over 8 yrs - $1.00 a week - which I regard as just a small part of the cost of  living.

I will be resubscribing on a monthly basis, and will take up an annual subscription should it become available.
I think Dave, and the others involved in the rebirth, deserve my appreciation for their efforts in the past and of late.
My wish for annual subscription is a sign of the "goodwill" that I ascribe to their business and to their help in the past.

IceTV EPG Content / Re: Gideon's Way

I see that there is a similar problem with the episode of "Laverne and Shirley" scheduled for today
S7 Ep15  "An Affair to Forget - P1".

The synopsis is that also used for S3 Ep6    "Cruise: Part 1".

Thanks for the prompt reply, Madeline.
I hope to see the updated synopsis when the episode is re-shown.

IceTV EPG Content / Gideon's Way
« on: July 24, 2015, 09:14:58 AM »
This morning's "Gideon's Way" episode broadcast on GEM at 00:57 - 02:01, "Big fish, little fish"  (Series 1 Ep8),
once again uses the episode description for  "Big Fix"  (Series 1 Ep 4) instead.        "Big Fix" is not "Big Fish".
As this is a constant problem with this particular episode alone,(AFAIK),  I assume that the database in use was corrupted at the initial input of Episode detail information.
I further assume that no-one else has advised Ice of the error, and you can't fix a problem you don't know about.

Could someone at Ice please check and edit the relevant data.

Regards, Lindsay

Yahoo! Widget / Re: Repeated need to re-authorise Widget
« on: March 04, 2011, 01:24:44 PM »
Thanks for the prompt reply Dan, and my  apologies for my delayed response.
I only dial in and log onto the internet when I need to so once or twice a week is my usual.

Re-authorising every 6 mths seems reasonable to me. More often, if there is a particular problem, as well.

I had to close and re-open one of my two Widgets before I could get a "TV Guide" even for today.
The second Widget didn't have any data even after 3 close/open cycles.
Checking under the "i" tab I found there were no TV channels listed at the top - no "white background" section, only the lower "grey background" section with the "Check for update" etc., buttons.
I de-authorised, re-authorised and the Widget worked properly.

As there are no responses other than yours I accept that others don't have a problem.
As I am downloading from a dial-up account and getting only 45.2 Kbps I gather that the problem is the speed and authorisation response time required by Ice's security set-up.
So it looks like my problem is more because of my set-up than Ice's so I won't contact support.

Thanks for your help, Dan

Yahoo! Widget / Repeated need to re-authorise Widget
« on: February 27, 2011, 03:38:56 PM »
I have had a subscription for several years and have used the Widget since joining.
I can see the need to re-authorise a Widget occasionally, from a security point of view, but cannot see why I have to do it so often. At present I need to re-authorise every second time I try to update the "TV Guide" information.

When I am forced to de-authorise and re-authorise I can see that I have an account, that the account is up to date and  how much longer I have have full access. Why does the Widget, having "signed in", not have the same information available to it?

Why does it tell me that I need to buy a subscription in order get the next seven days programming under the "TV Guide" tab?

Why does it, at the same time, show me all the TV programs, for the same next seven days, that I have told it I am interested in following under the "My Upcoming Shows" tab?

Is anyone else experiencing similar problems?  Has anyone previously had a similar problem and found a fix?
TIA for feedback.

Wiill do. Thanks.
I have regularly checked for up dates via the "Settings" on the Widget but no response.

"My Upcoming Shows" for tomorrow onwards 1/4 are showing up as "Saturday, May 1" etc.
The last time this happened, it was a problem in the widget itself, and it was fixed in version 2.12. Can you please verify that that's the version you're running?  (The version number is at the bottom of the Settings page)  I tried both the Windows and Mac widgets just now, and they both seem fine, both for guide data and the dates on the My Shows tab. Although version 2.11 is definitely still showing the problem.
Thanks for the quick reply. I am running 2.7 (16). The problem has disappeared, probably at midnight on 31/3.
I disconnected from the Internet and the problem was still there when put my computer into "Hibernate" shortly after I posted.
When I woke the computer up on 1/4 the Widget was operating as normal.
The previously "missing" information for all days in "TV Guide", and the proper date information was displaying in "My Upcoming Shows".
As per my original post the program details were displayed in "My Upcoming Shows" on 31/3 so the data was down-loaded but wasn't displayed in "TV Guide".

It seems that the problem may continue to re-occur at the end of  some months sometime in the future and resolve itself at the beginning of the next month. A minor temporary irritation to me but a possibly interesting coding issue to Ice.  Thanks again.

Regards Lindsay.

I did intend to make a new topic until I saw that my present problem is the same as the original report.
The problem has again arisen at the beginning of the month.
"My Upcoming Shows" for tomorrow onwards 1/4 are showing up as "Saturday, May 1" etc.
When I click on a  programme's details the drop-down shows "Thursday, 1 April" etc.
The "TV Guide" has no listings beyond the last show before midnight tonight.

Is anyone else seeing the same?

Might the same problem be removed with the same "fix" as was implemented last time?

Yahoo! Widget / Re: Cant get the widget to work
« on: November 05, 2009, 01:02:02 PM »
Just new to ICE ( about a week), paid my subscription, can log in, see my account but...Ive downloaded the widget today it seems to open but then tells me I need to subscribe to ICE TV (which I have).I go to the "i" button but it gives me no choices but to "deauthorise this widget". It doesn't know im a paid subscriber. How do you get it to work please??It V2.6(15)

It is all part of the experience - go with the flow....  breathe slowly, ... in,  ... out,
Mine worked perfectly when I got it. After a while it started demanding Subscription, refusing to communicate, etc.
Sometimes closing and re-opening works.

Otherwise just de-authorise, then re-authorise and re-fetch token.  With a bit of luck you won't need to do it all again until you've forgotten what you did last time.

Smart Recording website and General questions / CommunityTV to go digital
« on: November 04, 2009, 03:05:52 PM »
It's about time.
Kev and Conroy have finally extracted the digit.

I will appreciate having my C31 programs included in the Ice Guide - when the broadcasting bit actually happens.

The Rudd Government has determined a pathway for Community Television to make the transition to digital broadcasting.

“Community Television is an important component of the Australian media landscape and I am very pleased that it now has a pathway to digital transmission,” said the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy.

“I am delighted that by working closely with the Community TV sector, we have identified suitable spectrum and necessary funding to enable Community TV stations to begin digital simulcasts.”
