XMLTV (General) / Re: More platforms supported
« on: June 09, 2005, 02:24:47 PM »
Hi Dropbear,

Media Portal is on the list of software PVR's to have a guide written for.

While that is still being written there are some steps you can go through to try and set this up for Media Portal (keeping in mind that these have not been tested fully). You will need to download the "Webget.exe" program from the HowTo's and Downloads page of the IceTV website.

Save this file to the "XMLTV" directory that was created under the "Media Portal" installation directory. By default this will be "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv\".

Open Notepad and put in a line:

Code: [Select]
"C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv\webget.exe" "" -u <user ID> -p <password> -o "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv\tvguide.xml"
You will need to replace <user ID> with your IceTV User ID and <password> with your IceTV Password. The inverted commas must be copied and left where they are. Save this file in the same directory where webget.exe was saved (C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv) as "get.bat"

In MediaPortal then you need to specify where the XMLTV file is located. In the configuration under Television choose "Program Guide". On the general tab you can change where the file is located, make sure it still lists "c:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv" (this is the default). If not then click "browse" and change it. You will also need to put a value in the "Compensate time zone with" box, it should be "10" and then "0" in the two boxes. Then on the "Scheduler" tab from the grabber list choose "TVguide.xml File". Click on the "Run Grabber" button and the first lot of guide data will be read into Media Portal.

To map the guide data to your existing scanned channels. Under the Television section in the configuration again, this time in "Channels" section. Edit your existing channels and change the names so that they match up to the channels names that are in the tvguide.

Hopefully this should get you through to be able to view the guide in Media Portal. If you have any other questions on using iceguide then please don't hesitate to call on 1300 654 803 or you can post here or via email.

The installer for iceguide4topfield has now been updated on our website.

This should fix any problems anyone may have had with ABC2 and SBS World News Digital not showing any guide data in Melbourne.

Anyone experiencing this problem just needs to download the current software off our site and install it as usual then choose Melbourne.

P.S. Here is a direct link to the installer :

As I understand it the IceGuide is not yet available for the ABC2 channel (and the SBS News channel).

Actually we do have support up for these channels. We are currently looking into why these are not showing up for you. I did want to ask though, which region you live in (either sydney or melbourne)?

Does the IceGuide completely block "Now and Next" on all channels?

Yes, this needs to be done so it doesn't override the EPG data in memory. As far I know there is no way to turn this back on for some channels and not others.

I will post back in this thread when we have more information for you.

Unfortunately there is no firm date as of yet.

We are currently testing the TAP and the new loader though.

Hi Welt,

I believe if you use the string

c:\xml\webget.exe ",2,3,4,5,29,38" -u <myuserid> -p <mypassword> -o c:\xml\guide.xml

you should be right to go. For the username and password it's probably best to copy them from the original confirmation email that was sent to you.

The Topfield only has a slave USB port and unfortunately cannot drive a wireless USB dongle. We are however developing just such a device that can do this.

We are currently developing a wireless solution that will be platform independant.

Quick answer is yes, the iceguide4topfield loader will run in a virtual PC setup, but there has been issues with the USB connection to the Topfield which may stop it from working at all.

Looks like I am getting the same error when trying to post.

I will make sure that Russell is made aware of this tomorrow.
