IceTV EPG Content / Program name change - Netball
« on: June 23, 2006, 03:55:57 AM »
The following changes have been made to the guide:

Old program name:  NETBALL
Old episode name:  The Highlights Show 2006

New program name:  NETBALL: The Highlights Show 2006

The old program name is still in use, but only for other episodes.  If you have a series recording setup for the old program name, you may want to create one for the new program name as well.

IceTV EPG Content / Welcome to the IceGuide Content forum
« on: June 23, 2006, 03:49:26 AM »
Hello and welcome to the IceGuide Content forum!  This is where we'll be announcing changes to the guide that may affect your recording schedules, especially if you're using a PVR that supports some type of "series recording" feature.  We try to keep these kinds of changes to a minimum, but occasionally it's necessary to change a program name.  When this happens, we'll post a message here so you can update the series recordings in your PVR and hopefully not miss anything.

Thanks!
Russell

Announcements / New web site is live!
« on: March 18, 2005, 09:07:53 PM »
I'm happy to announce that IceTV's new web site is live!

   http://www.icetv.com.au/

If you only see the old front page with the signup form, it's because your ISP hasn't found the change yet, but it probably will within the next few hours.

BTW, in case you're using an old address for these forums, the official address is now:

   http://www.icetv.com.au/forum

(which you can also get to from the Support page on the new site)

Please let us know if you find any problems.

Thanks!
Russell

Topfield / ICEguide for Topfield installer v1.0.0.2
« on: March 17, 2005, 03:45:29 PM »
The latest IceGuide4Topfield loader and TAP are now available for testing on the support page (version 1.0.0.2):

   http://server.icetv.info/support/

Important changes in this version:
  • Multi-region support has been improved.  An arbitrary number of ini files can be added and these appear in the list under the "region" button.
  • IceGuide4Topfield.ini holds the static information (apart from region).
  • The other files (sydney.ini and melbourne.ini) hold the region-specific info and any aliases you might setup on the channels for that region.
  • All ini files have been extensively commented so hopefully they will be easier to understand.
Thanks,
Russell

Announcements / Ice XML Guide 2.0 now available
« on: February 10, 2005, 05:05:50 PM »
Hi guys,

Version 2.0 of the Ice XML Guide is now ready for beta testing.  You can find the web form (primarily for testing and manually retrieving XML data) here:

   http://server.icetv.info/cgi-bin2/xmlguide2.cgi
   Username: beta
   Password: getdata

For help in retrieving XML data programmatically, click the "View Help File" button on that same page.

Changes in version 2.0:

- All dates and times are now in UTC.  Start and end times always have the time zone "+0000".

- Removed the "broadcast-type" entity that contained flags such as BW, WS, HD, R, and CC.  Now using fields defined in the original XMLTV spec. for these items (actually the XMLTV spec didn't include a field for HD, so we created a new "quality" entity, but the others were there, just kind of oddly-named):

   <video>
      <colour>no</colour>
      <aspect>16:9</aspect>
      <quality>HDTV</quality>
   </video>
   <previously-shown/>
   <subtitles type="teletext"/>

- Added a new "ice-xml-version" entity, which shows the version of the XML format we're using.  It's set to 2.0 for this new version of xmlguide.

- Version 2 uses a new DTD, which you can view here:

    http://server.icetv.info/webguide/xmlguide2.dtd

- Added the current date and time to the "date" element of the "tv" entity at the top, to show when the data was created.  The format is "YYYYMMDDhhmmss" and it's in UTC.  For example:

    <tv date="20050208040012" source-info-url="http://www.zaptv.info" source-info-name="ZapTV" generator-info-name="ZapTV" generator-info-url="http://www.zaptv.info">

- Added the ability to specify a "last modified time" in the URL.  If included, only program records modified after the specified time and date are sent. The usual format is "&mod_time=YYYYMMDDhhmmss", expressed as UTC. This value can be copied from the "date" element of the "tv" entity, which shows the time and date the XML data was created. By sending this value back in a new request as the last modified time, the output can be limited to only those records modified since the last request. This includes any new programs added since the previous request, as well as programs that were sent before, but have since changed.

Please help us test out this new version by incorporating it into your programs and PVRs.  As always, feedback is welcome.

Please post comments about this new version to one of the other forums.  This one is reserved for announcements only.

Thanks,
Russell

XMLTV (General) / RFC: Ice XML Guide 2.0
« on: February 08, 2005, 06:57:02 PM »
Hi guys,

We've been working on some changes for version 2 of the XML guide, and thought we'd run them by you to see if you had any comments or suggestions.  Here are the changes we've made so far:

- All dates and times are now in UTC.

    <video>
        <colour>yes</colour>
        <aspect>16:9</aspect>
        <quality>HDTV</quality>
    </video>
    <previously-shown/>
    <subtitles type="teletext"/>

- Added a new "ice-xml-version" entity, which shows the version of the XML format we're using.  It's set to 2.0 for this new version of xmlguide.

- Version 2 uses a new DTD, which you can view here:

    http://server.icetv.info/webguide/webguide2.dtd

- Added the current date and time to the "date" element of the "tv" entity at the top, to show when the data was created.  The format is "YYYYMMDDhhmmss" and it's in UTC.  For example:

    <tv date="20050208040012" source-info-url="http://www.zaptv.info" source-info-name="ZapTV" generator-info-name="ZapTV" generator-info-url="http://www.zaptv.info">

Comments welcome.

When it's ready for beta testing (soon), we'll post a msg to the Announcements forum.

Thanks,
Russell
