Title: Beyonwiz gets Ice Guide and Timers - but nothing records
Post by: mhyne on July 17, 2011, 05:41:33 AM
I have been trying to get my Beyonwiz to record from IceTV but I am at a loss.

I am downloading the Guide just fine.  And recordings that I schedule on the website are showing in the guide (and the timers view) - but nothing gets recorded to disk (ie the times dont start recording anything).

I have tried doing a manual record and this works fine so it is obviously something do do with the IceTV service.

I have tried full re-initialization and the problem persists.

Any suggestions ?

This is maybe the 2nd or third report of small problem in this area.
I have just recently had a problem with Hustle, and I think another recording earlier.
These I haven't seen recorded, yet I have them set as series recordings, and they have recorded previously as advertised.
I also had Siege set up as a once off recording last night, no recording.  Yet, Executive decision which followed on the same channel was recorded.
I have also had a couple of "orphan timers", timers that have been set, but still there after the time has passed, with no recording being made.

One user has altered his time setup from Network to Auto to take the boxes time from the broadcasters instead of an NTP server.  His report says that his problem went away.
Just yesterday, I followed suit.

Although I can't really believe that an NTP server could be sending erroneous times, and how that effects us the way that we are talking about, I have no real idea.  But, I'll just have to wait and see.

I've been using Network time on both my Beyonwizes ever since it appeared in beta, and I've never had any problem with it. I use an NTP server provided by my ISP, but I don't see why using the Beyonwiz default (au.pool.ntp.org IIRC) shouldn't work just as well.

Hi,

Did changing to auto allow you to record hustle?

I have noticed that when I setup my recordings through ICETV and then check the program guide, it has marked red some programs but not others like hustle.

This time it did.
Although I wouldn't point to that as being the fix.
Can't see the reason for it.

I've had this too. I get all the scheduled programing to be recorded, have plenty of hard disk space available on my DP-2TB PVR (the guide shows the program as red, press the pop-up button, and I can see the list of scheduled programs) however nothing from ICE TV will actually record.

Unfortunately I went away from home for 3 weeks, with a set list of stuff to record that I wanted to watch on my return, only to find out not a single episode of a single recording had happened.

Checked the list of scheduled recordings and there were heaps in there that were old (start of October) but nothing new on the hard disk...

Any suggestions?

Check the Beyonwiz timer list to see if there are any old timers at the top of the list. If there are, delete them.
Then disable Ice Guide.
Then go to 'Setup > Initialise' and 'Clear Timers' and 'Clear EPG Disk Cache.
Check the Beyonwiz timer list again and delete remaining timers.
Then log in to the IceTV website, go to 'My Account > TV Recorders' and 'Resend all recordings'.
Then enable Ice Guide.
Within an hour you should have both the guide and timers back.
