Title: Setting channel preference
Post by: jsok on November 11, 2008, 09:53:42 AM
Hi,

The problem I have is that I get really bad Sydney Channel 10 reception, so I use Southern Cross 10 instead. However when I set a show to record on channel 10, it comes up as being recorded on both channels. Sydney 10 usually gets preference resulting in an unwatchable recording. How do I set it so that I *always* record from SC10 instead of Syd10?

If you delete the Sydney Channel 10 channel from the pvr does it still tape Southern Cross?

I don't think that's exactly a "solution"  :D

It seems a bunch of my series recordings have registerd for all 3 channel 10's (10, 10HD, SC10). I've gone through and deleted all the 10 and 10HD recording schedules however.
Just want to know the best way to avoid having to do this.

If you don't want to record on Sydney Channel 10 because of poor signal it would make sense to remove it. Under Show Series Options you should be able to select 'This Channel Only' to stop the show recording everywhere it appears in the EPG.

Right, I can see that option.

I think I've figured out how I got into this predicament to begin with:
In the iPhone app I was browsing Popular Shows. I picked a show and chose "Record Series". However under the channel drop down box you can *only* choose "Any Channel".
It appears this channel option only is broken under Popular Shows.

That's correct.

The Most Popular list is based on series', not a specific showing on a specific channel. Therefore we can't provide a "this channel" option.
The "this channel" option is only available in places where you're looking at the TV guide for the next 7 days.

Side note: This means you can use the Most Popular list to schedule shows that aren't showing in the next 7 days!

Hope that makes sense.
