With ABC TV becoming ABC1 and the changes to LCN's coming this Monday, are there any plans for IceTV's data to follow suit?

Thanks in advance. :D
Big Dan - finally got NBN and One HD in the Upper Hunter.

Absolutely, we will of course monitor on Monday morning to ensure the change does happen, and then when confirmed will update the LCN's along with the channel name for ABC1 (and probably update ABC2 to reflect any name changes).

Help !  ???  I used to have "ABC TV Adelaide", "ABC 2" and "ABC HDTV" set up in Webscheduler.

What happened to the ABC ?  Their website is less than informative about what changed specifically.  Does anyone have any explanatory links ?

In WebScheduler, IceTV channels only load ABC1 and ABC2.
Here's the log showing ABC HDTV missing

What do I map from IceTV to these new channels ?
In particular,
which ABC-1 ?
which Ten HD ?
which SBS is the movies and which is the "other" ?
and where did Ice's ABC-HDTV go ?

Also, do I have to turn on my TV's and do a re-scan on their channels too ?

Daniel Hall at IceTV

I am drafting an email now that I hope to have out within the next couple of hours.

It basically comes down to:

As of today (11⁄02⁄2008) the ABC network are re-numbering their channels. The new channel names and numbering will be:

Old NameNew NameOld NumberNew Number
ABC*ABC122
ABC2 DigitalABC22122
ABC HDTVABC HDTV2020
* - ABC in this case will previously have differed by region, for example Sydney would have been "ABC TV Sydney" and Brisbane would have been "ABC TV Brisbane", all of these channels have changed to just being "ABC1".

We have updated the channel name and number information in the guide this morning as we have confirmed that this change has gone through. More information on the change itself can be found on the ABC website at http://www.abc.net.au/tv/newtv/on_your_tv.htm.

Now that ABC has made this change the majority of PVR's will require a re-scan of the channels. The easiest way to do this on the majority of PVR's is to re-run through the setup of both the guide and scanning of channels, all setup guides are listed on our website at http://www.icetv.com.au/cgi-bin/websupport.cgi?op=list_faqs&faq_cat_id=26.

Also ABC HDTV in your case would not be showing much if anything as it appears you don't have the "Copy SD to HD" flag enabled under the "My Account" section of the IceTV website. This copy feature will apply to HD channels apart from Ten HD and Seven HD (as these are now distinct and unique channels), for everything else it will copy all the SD guide information to the HD channel (but there is the risk that some information will not be accurate).

Is this change happening the same way Australia wide? I got the email from IceTV about the ABC channel changes and did a new channel scan on my Topfield. It does now show ABC1 & ABC2, but ABC2 is still on 21 (not 22 as was stated in the email). I can't get any guide for ABC2 in JustEPG (but did in the IceTV EPG after mapping ABC2 manually in its tap).

After changing the JustEPG.ini file to make the LCN for ABC2 to be 22 it does show in JustEPG but with (LCN 22) after the name of the channel in the guide (which I'd rather not have).

I don't know if this an IceTV or JustEPG issue. I also posted this in the Topfield forum.

I use IceTV, a Topfield Masterpiece, JustEPG, PBK. I'm in Northern Tasmania.

I am having the same problems and have the same configuration as wfdonald except I am in Southern NSW

Any ideas anyone??

Daniel Hall at IceTV

One thing that has been noted is that on the Topfield just doing a new channel scan is not enough and the channel names and numbers will not update, if you delete the existing channels and then perform a partial channel scan to get back the ABC channels with the new names and numbers. More information is available at http://www.icetv.com.au/iceforum/index.php?topic=943.0.

Anyway I did this which works:

'Firstly, you need to delete the existing ABC channels by the following method:
a, Press the Ok button on the remote to display the list of channels.
b, Highlight the channel 'ABC'.
c, Take note of the channel number in the bottom of the window (it has 'DVBT Ch 41 620.500 Mhz' in Northern Tas so the relevant number for me is 41).
d, Press the Red button, highlight the 'Delete' option, press Ok, then 'Yes' to confirm.
e, Repeat steps b + d for each ABC channel (ie. ABC2, ABC HD etc.).

Now you need to rescan the ABC channels to pickup the new LCNs. To do so...
a, Go to the 'Main Menu', select 'Installation', then 'Service Search'.
b, Set the 'Search Mode' to 'Manual' and 'Channel' to 41 (the channel number from step c, above, will be different for you).
c, Then select 'Start Search...' and press Ok.
d, The ABC channels should now be scanned and then the 'Search Complete!' dialog will appear. e, Press Ok then exit out of the main menu.'

You might want to delete any unused channels (HD ones) or rename them.

If you still don't get an ABC2 epg, you may then need to check/edit the JustEPG.ini file (in a text editor) to set the LCN of ABC2 to the correct number - 22 (this is near the bottom of the file).
