Missing channels

I am only asking this out of curiosity - it really doesn't matter.  :P

I still haven't quite retired my Toppy 5K.  Well, I'm getting there...

I haven't bothered re-scanning it when all the new channels came into being, no point, really.  Tonight I decided to do it anyway.  Basically, I am all confused as to what's a HD channel and what isn't :-)  I wanted to know if 7flix was, so I thought I'd re-scan the Toppy and see if I can watch it on there.

So, I re-scanned it - twice.  It finds 29 channels.  7flix is not one of them.  (found 30 SBS HD, twice!)

Why is it so?

As I said, no great drama, I am just curious why that would be?

I've got

ONE (1)
ABC (2)
SBS1 (3)
7 Digital (7)
9 (9)
10 (10)
11 (11)
ONE (12)
TVSN (14)
SpreeTV (15)
ABC (21)
ABC2/KIDS (22)
ABC3 (23)
ABCNews24 HD (24)
SBSHD (30)
SBSHD (30)
SBSTWO (32)
Food Network (33)
NITV (34)
C31 (44)
7Digital (70)
7 Digital 1 (71)
7TWO (72)
7mate (73)
9HD  (90) -which is not HD, becomes Gem with no sound-
Chanel 9 (91)
9Gem (92)
9Go! (93)
9Life (94)
Extra (95)
9Go!  (99)

All of which adds up 31, yet the scan says it found 29.  So, I suppose the two SBS would be part of the explanation :-)

Judy

The 5000 only supports Standard Definition MPEG 2; If I recall correctly will record but not play HD MPEG2. 7flix is transmitted in MPEG4 (H 264) which the SD Toppys do not recognise. I think the 7 network infotainment channel is alos MPEG4. You would have the same problem with the early HD Toppys (7000 and 7100 - not the plus) which do not support MPEG4.

IceTV: IceBox + BYOB IceBox + 2xTRF-2400 + 2xTF7100HDPVRtPlus + SKIPPA [RIP] + T2 + U4 + V2
No IceTV: a few Toppys and T2
Synology NAS
