Hi, we record 'News on 3' on ABC 3 for the kids. The 5:40 edition is a shorter, edited version of the 6:50 version. Is there any way of differentiating between the two? We'd like to record the longer 6:50 version.

Thanks, Paul.

Will using the "This Time:This time only" option in Advanced options when you set up the timer do what you want?

Hi Paul,

For tomorrow and what I can see of next week both airings are listed as 10 minutes long. If that is correct you could set the quantity option to '1 per day' which would just record the earlier 5:40pm airing.

Differentiating by repeat status won't work because neither is a repeat, unfortunately.

Otherwise if you trust that the 6:50pm airing will always start at 6:50pm prl's suggestion of "this time only" would be the way to go.
cheers

Thanks, the 'when you set the timer' was the key, I'd been trying to modify the time option on an already set series record.

Cheers, Paul.

Yes, there's an odd, and I think non-intuitive, difference between the options available when creating the timer and when updating it. That doesn't mean it doesn't make sense in the context of the code.

Definitely unintuitive. If it allowed for a choice between "Exact time" and "Around this time" it would be a lot more useful.

Or better yet, choices of 'Early, Morning, Afternoon, Evening or Exact Time'.

Indeed, given the very tenuous relationship the networks have with the concept of "exact time" ;)

If we're making requests for coding changes, how about one that gives you the option to preference one recording over another in case of multiple timers? :-)
