Hi,

I was hoping someone at ICETv could enlighten me about the new firmware which showed up as available on my IceBox2... Just bugfixes, or are there some noticeable changes?

Cheers,

The only thing I noticed was the addition of a Fetch Log when manually fetching guide data

It would have been nice to have been told in advance (or at the time it was released), either via these forums or via email.

Support seems to have dried up recently.

OK I'll bite, it shows up as a new Version is available.  But how do you download it into the Asus ICEbox ?

I will answer my own stupid question, click on the new firmware name in the Info screen to download it.

And for what its fixed.  I would say the Auto Fetch problem that we complained about has been fixed (until the year 2016 anyway)

Once you have downloaded it, is it ok to do the firmware update via the wireless connection or will an ethernet cable need to be connected?

I upgraded via wireless - all went fine, no smoke or flames.... I know the manual (for the non-ICE ASUS) reccomends using a cable connection though, just to be on the safe side..

It should not matter if you do the upgrade via wifi or Ethernet. The new firmware image is downloaded to RAM, checked for integrity and then flashed. As long as nothing goes wrong during the flash process, you should be fine.

Although I was not involved with the latest firmware, I believe one of the things it addresses is the "TAP updates after 7 days even if fetches are disabled" problem.

Just got my ICeBox 2 today and it has F/W version 200608301537, so I guess it came with the latest version.

Took a while to get the WPA working and a few resets.  But so far all is good and ted/s is working perfectly.

Just need to pull out the TV cabinet and use the nice small USB cable and not the 3m one.  :)

The Asus firmware was a bug fix release.

The issue was that even if no days were setup it would still download the TAP and guide data once every 8 days or so. More details on this can be found at http://www.icetv.com.au/forum/index.php?topic=317.0.

Geez, there you go... - and I always thought that was just an 'enhancement' :D

Hi Damon - per my post in the Iceguide for Topfield forum, I bought a legit Icebox2 from IceTV (Daniel can confirm this) and did some testing with the Asus firmware but have no copy of the original firmware to get the box back to IceTV configuration.

Since IceTV don't seem to want to respond to my request in that forum, can you possibly email me a copy of the bugfix firmware so I can restore my box?

Cheers,

Crawf

Can do but I have it at home not at work.  If someone can look at their Icebox Info page they can read the link address and post it here. If not I will see what I can do at home.
