Understood.

If I bought 2 eyetv netstream DTT's that would give me 4 tuners. If I just left these recording channels 2 7 9 @ 10..... say to a NAS,  24/7..... would that work?

There is no law preventing recording EVERY show. Once. "For the one off viewing of the private owner"...now is there?  :)

Yes, it would work. Each broadcast is about 3MB/sec, or all up for five broadcasters, about 1.3TB/day. You're going to make someone at Western Digital very happy indeed :)

ETA: for the 4 tuners mentioned, "only" 1TB/day

Of course, something of the order of 10-20TB/day incoming data to cover all the metro stations, and perhaps that again for the regionals, and that much again for a more compressed format, and keeping it all for, say, a month, plus the servers to do the recompression and distribution, would be something that wouldn't be terribly difficult from the technology point of view. Wouldn't like to have your bills, though, when Hollywood's legal posse comes riding into town. ;)
