Getting Help / Re: Screen resolution does not...
Last post by IanL-S - April 19, 2024, 01:46:16 PM
On my IceBox I have it set to 1920x1080p - this reflects HD broadcast are not interlaced when using h.264. I think MEPEG2 may be interlaced. MY old Toppys do not support 1080p, max out at 1080i - some ancient Beyonwiz use the same SOC. So, try 1920x1080p.

The thing is that I only tried the resolution changes because at 1920x1080 things looked fuzzy around the edges, and not as crisp as on my BW T2, so I changed the resolution from progressive to interlaced, because that is what the T2 reported and was trying to compare apples with apples. Refresh rate is 50 Hz.

It is back at 1920x1080i and 50 Hz, and I have just done a power cycle but no change.

It is not that it is like being pixelated, just that comparing it to another device with the same settings it is noticeably different and changing resolution settings does not seem to have an effect.

As I said, it is not "bad".

I suppose something for when you have some available time ROFL - sorry...could not resist.

Getting Help / Re: Guide/Timers not updating.
Last post by IanL-S - April 19, 2024, 12:28:58 PM
My recollection that recent builds of the IceTV add-on upload timers set on the IceBox itself, either through the EPG or a timer rule, to the IceTV server. Looking at the change list, this was introduced in IceTV add-on version 0.1.68; the current build is 1.0.2. You can delete timers created using the IceBox EPG via the IceTV App. My recollection is that they cannot be deleted on the IceBox, as they are immediately download from the IceTV server. Timers created by IceBox timer rule can be problematic - but I doubt that they are a popular feature with users.

Quote from: johnmw1 on April 19, 2024, 08:21:47 AMYes, I have lost a few of my timers again, and there are lots of blank areas in the EPG.

As for the missing timers, I have a vague recollection that IceBox timers set from the EPG only work locally, i.e. do not get captured by the IceTV servers.  It could be that the Soft reset loses the local timers.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong with this one.

Quote from: StephenIsmay on April 19, 2024, 08:36:28 AMMy new IceBox is connected to a Panasonic 65inch TV and nothing i seem to do in the TV menu seems to fix my overscan problem, is there any adjustment i can make in KODI?

Yes there is.

1. From the main Menu, select the Settings "Cog" for the Settings page.
2. On the Settings page select Interface Box to show the Settings/Interface page.
3. On the Settings/Interface page menu, select Skin and then -Zoom.

This allows you to adjust the overall size of the picture.  I find the for my LG, about -6% does the job.

Screen resolution should be set to 1920x1080 @ 50 Hz. Other settings can produce suboptimal results. 1920x1080 is the resolution used by HD transmission that use h.264. Most HD transmission use h.264; some regional areas have MPEG2 HD.

Getting Help / Re: All 9Life programs are rec...

That is unusual. In the early days there was an Timer update bug that could result in occasional doubling up of timers.

All I can suggest is that you create a support ticket.

Also check to see if you are running the latest build which is, if I recall correctly 11.6.2.

You could try a soft reset but I am not hopeful that it will make any difference.

Are in area where you can receive 9Life from multip0le transmitters? With recent builds it is possible that both are active - however in my experience it does not result in duplicate timers. Indeed it should not do so.

Hopefully the new build will mitigate the problem you are having. I know that @Daniel Hall has been working on a solution to the EPG/timer update problem.

We do not have a list of the changes, and @Daniel Hall is currently out of action with the flu.

I cannot test for the problem as I am currently running a beta build.
