Getting Help / Re: Guide/Timers not updating.
April 15, 2024, 12:01:20 PM
Hi Mike,

I've replied via your support ticket but yes a soft reset is the way to go. Apologies and a software update is near release (we are testing the final release candidate right now).

We will email all customers once the update is available by a simple IceBox reboot and list the bug fixes and improvements at that time.

An imminent software update should fix that bug (and some others).

Mate, do you realise how difficult that would be, both getting it into the software then modifying the UI??!!

No rush though👍

If you really do want to get into it you'll need a keyboard, either USB or wireless. Connect the keyboard then turn the box right off buy pulling out its power pin. then after a few seconds with the esc button pressed down in the keyboard plug its power back in.  Release the escape key after a few seconds on the box will boot into its BIOS where boot options are available.  From memory the quickest way is then to go to BIOS Save and Exit a simple reboot choice is available.

Hi Aardvark,

Go the add ons on the left menu, you'll see a large IceTV box on the right.  Go to it press OK and a choice to turn ad skip off or on will be seen. It should be on as that's the default?

As you record lots of ABC no ad skip will be present except at the end of the padding at the start of a show and at its end.  It will show up in the bar at the top of the TV whenever you press the manual forward skip button or at the bottom of the TV when the "i" button is pressed. The second choice also shows the time shift functionality plus other choices such as subtitles.

The ad skip takes about 20 minutes per hour of recording and doesn't start until the recording has ended. If there are multiple simultaneous recordings the choice as to which is processed first is currently random.

The IceBox is running the latest firmware v1.11.6 so why would you want to boot to a USB?

Hi John,

We'll send you a replacement remote control as your sounds as if it is failing. Unfortunately it may not go out via AusPost until Monday.

Hi John,

Did you buy this IceBox via IceTV as I can't see the purchase in your account.

The remote has a maximum range of 10m although that's probably in perfect line of sight conditions and I'd suggest 5-6m would be more realistic.

I'll pass on the question regarding the IceBox switching off to our CTO.

Hi Nathan,

Looking at your account you purchased this IceBox in March 2003  but the free 90 days subscription has long expired as has your account?  So you can't connect to our servers. What happened in the meantime.

Anyway, on the assumption you don't have a second account, and this forum email agrees with your IceTV account one, I have added another free 90 days.  That should at least get you started but please note you must update your software to the latest automatic adskip v1.11.6 for stability.

You can sort them alphabetically by scrolling the Guide backwards in time as far as it will go at which point the same box as that used to sort timers will appear.  Choose name as the default is number.

I'll leave the strange LCNs to others more technically competent but personally I ignore them and simply like the networks grouped alphabetically, excepting NITV and Nickolodeon whose names are not the same as the parent network but as outliers are easy to find.

Hi John,

Now you connected to IceTV I can see you have the old development firmware. Use the link on my previous post to update to our latest stable release with built in ad skip.

Hi have you plugged its little wifi dongle into one of the two usb sockets on the left of the IceBox?  When new the dongle is sent inside the remote's battery compartment (as described in the setup & user guide under Help on our website). If you have try new batteries as its range should be up to 10m.

For firmware as I said last post when the icebox is booting up it is shown on the top left of the TV screen and should be 1.11.6.

If not this forum link, if you scroll down within it, has the way to update it manually.  Once updated to 1.11.6 all future update will download in the background and just need a reboot to install. https://forum.icetv.com.au/iceforum/index.php?topic=7919.45

Hi John,

You should also check what IceTV software you have as 1.11.6 is the latest with automatic ad skipping. It will show top left on the tv screen during reset startup

Hi John,

Yes or do a hard reset, which is the next choice under soft reset, which will erase all recordings too.
