Bugger. I spoke too soon....

I shall keep investigating !

Well, I don't know what's happening, but thus far, the EPG Updater I've concocted is 'encouraging' EyeTV to update every two hours most of the time.
EyeTV occasionally 'ignores' the message to update the EPG, but so far it only ignores one update, but then does 'obey' the next several update messages, before again wilfully ignoring an update message.

Go figure   >:(

(ps: as long as EyeTV obeys more EPG update messages than it ignores, I think I can live with it)

Well, I don't exactly know what was going on, but I did a bit of recoding and now (fingers crossed) my AppleScript Applet seems to be behaving & EyeTV is respecting and responding to "Update EPG" AppleScript 'commands' from my Applet  ???

(EyeTV v3.6.8 (7410), 2 x EyeTV Diversity USB Tuners & Mac OS X 10.9.5, running on a Hackintosh)

Thanks Dave

I tried the Accelerator app back when it was first released, (and the first few updates), and it was a real disappointment for me, so I wrote an AppleScript Applet that was working well until recently. So I was just wondering if IceTV had changed something on their (your) end....

The issue was/is that EyeTV doesn't always "obey" the "Update EPG" command being sent to it by the Applet I've written. EyeTV used to obey the Applet far more reliably. IIRC (being olde, the memory fails more than I'd like)

I've coded the Applet so it sends an "Update EPG" command and then calculates when 2 hours into the future would be, and then keeps a watch on the time, and when the 2 hours has elapsed, it then repeats the "Update EPG"  send command.
The Applet also posts to the Notification Centre, when an update EPG command is sent to EyeTV, so you can easily note that "things" are happening, and if the user quits EyeTV, the Applet goes into an "idle mode" and waits for EyeTV to start again before the Applet starts sending Update EPG messages again.

(edited to add more clarification & detail)

Ice TV needs to know the LCN for each service in a region. Unfortunately they are not uniform and with the Regional Nine network affiliates there is a lack of consistency in the content of particular LCN. However, it is easier for older PVRs than newer one like the SKIPPA and Beyonwiz T series where the information required is much more complex.

Strangely the regulatory authority no longer publishes this information. So, IceTV needs the help of users in getting the necessary information.

Ian

Well, if IceTv folks asked, I'm sure they'd be deluged with data...

I've got an EyeTV setup, and a Topfield so I could give two datasets, and it's not as if IceTV doesn't know where it's existing users are based, based on our billing addresses.

In EyeTV, I retuned for Ch 9/WIN and am still missing the guide(s) for GEM, LIFE, Extra, GOLD.

And in the IceTV page : https://www.icetv.com.au/cgi-bin/webmembers.cgi?op=showIceguide where I can "map" channels to LCN numbers, they are incorrect for some of the WIN channels:

IceTV Channel Name & LCNs are wrong:
GEM is 82, not 80
LIFE is 84, not 94
Extra is 85, not listed on IceTV's "My Account/Channels: Select the correct LCN for each channel"
GOLD is 86, not listed on IceTV's "My Account/Channels: Select the correct LCN for each channel"

IceTV folks, you need to get cracking and get this sorted out. (And yes, I've send an email to tech support)

I've got a Topfield 7100 & EyeTV 3.6.8, and am unable able to connect to the IceGuide Server.

The TopField gives me the error: Invalid User Account.
The EyeTV simply reports: Update failed due to a server error.

Is this likely to just be a DNS issue ?

I pointed my ADSL modem's DNS entries to Google 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4, but that didn't fix the lack of connectivity.

General Discussions / Re: IceTV Resurrected

I too have been an IceTV subscriber for several years.

And as I have 8 (?) months left on my current subscription, I too would like for IceTV to come out with some sort of deal for those of us who have months left on our (now defunct) subscription. I renewed my last 12 months subscription a couple of months in advance.

I'd also vote for being able to buy a block of 3 months at a time.

This was changed as part of our routine checking. However, nothing is fool proof so we appreciate changes like this being reported. This forum is read and is quite appropriate. Thanks again.

As of 3.40pm today the Topfield IceGuide is still confused about what's on WIN/Nine tonite.
Tried calling the 1300 number but the folks there are all busy busy busy.

Oddly enough the IceGuide on my EyeTV is showing what I think is the correct listing for WIN/Nine
CSI @ 8.30, LAC @ 9.30, CSI NY @ 10.30

@ 4.37pm I just noticed that 7mate on the Topfield for 10.30pm it's "The Event", but on EyeTV it's "Stargate Atlantis"

Looks to me like there's a complete cockup between what the Topfield is getting from IceTV and what the EyeTV is getting!
