IceTV EPG Content / Re: Channel 31

We understand your concern and greatly appreciate everyone's continued patience regarding this matter.

Rest assured, we're not simply 'ignoring' this and are doing quite the opposite.

We now have Agreements in place with almost all of the community digital channels and are in the process of figuring out how to incorporate their scheduling information into our EPG service.

The process of getting these Agreements in place, so that we have the right to include their EPG information is not something we can do overnight. Likewise, it is not a simple task to have their data automatically inputted into our EPG so that we can immediately offer everyone the ability to enjoy our advanced recording features, such as series recording and keyword recording.

With the support of most of the community channels in each city, our guys are working hard (behind the scenes) to rectify this situation and include the EPG data for the new digital channels in our EPG service as quickly as possible. Being users ourselves, we want to see this happen as quickly as everyone else.

We thank you in advance for your continued patience and hope to make everyone happy very shortly.

Cheers,

Matt

Beyonwiz / Re: New Freeview EPG & Ice

Well said Peter.

I would prefer having the ability to control my recordings, especially when there are multiple recordings around one another.

The last thing I would personally want is to let the TV Networks have control over my recordings. They play enough games as it is with their schedule to compete with one another.

What we (IceTV) and everyone else want, is for the TV Networks to simply stick to their advertised schedule! If they say a show is going to start at 8:30pm, then it should start at 8:30pm. Hopefully ACMA put pressure on the TV Networks to finally do this, like other Networks are forced to do in other countries.

This would make everyone happy.

Having said this, we will be paying close attention to this CRID feature and how other non-Freeview devices (TiVo included) deal with it.

Cheers,

Matt

Sorry for the confusion.

Our guys are working on some major changes to the way Recommendations works behind the scenes. As a result, there are no new recommendations being generated at present.

We have just released a new feature we call "New Shows" to Interactive, that provides a brief list of any new programs (or new seasons of returning series) coming soon to TV that our team think you should know about. For more information on the new "New Shows" feature, visit our News section. This new feature is similar in some respects to Recommendations as it is a way for our team to suggest TV shows that may be of interest, although it is obviously not based on your own viewing preferences.

The reason for the icon change for Recommendations from a 'green star' icon to a 'green tick' was because "New Shows" uses a 'yellow star' icon and we were worried that it might be too similar and cause confusion.

IceTV

IceTV EPG Content / Re: WTV Perth

Hi Chris,

I will try touching base again with WTV to see if we can add their listings to our EPG service. Hopefully we will get a more positive response from them. Especially as they are now obviously supplying TiVo with basically the same data we would require in order for IceTV members like yourself, to easily record their shows.

Cheers,

Matt

Hi David,

As you have seen with WMC, IceTV's EPG does contain extra meta data like 'year of production', 'actor's names' and so on. This additional information is sent as a separate field and is up to the PVR as to whether they choose to display it or not. In your case, the Beyonwiz does not.

The reason you are seeing it when using the simple over-the-air EPG, is because it is being send as part of the general description for a show.

Rest assured, we have taken your comments on board and will investigate ways to solve this issue. Whether it be with Beyonwiz's assistance or something we offer separately for users to apply themselves.

Regarding using IceTV on your mobile... have you tried using m.icetv.com.au?

Cheers,

Matt

General Discussions / Re: Where does guide data come from
December 04, 2009, 10:14:01 AM
To the best of our knowledge, companies such as Foxtel and TiVo license the use of HWW's guide data. HWW are now owned by ninemsn and formally purchased by Nine.

IceTV compiles it's own independent listings for digital free-to-air TV.

Just wondered if the guide data comes from HWW as a Hybrid employee stated on another forum today?

Find it difficult to believe an employee of Hybrid Television Services the distributors of TiVo in Australia and NZ, was not aware of this. Would suggest they do some research before making such a statement. Which forum was this comment made?

We will have a look into it and contact them to see if they have plans to support IceTV Interactive.

We of course, would like to offer our service for customers to enjoy on as many different devices and platforms as possible. As long as they share the same beliefs and want to offer (not restrict) as much functionality to the end-user as possible.

Thanks again for the link and the suggestion.

For a limited time enjoy IceTV for another year for less than half price. Join or top-up for only $49 (normally $99). That’s less than a $1 per week!

We only have 1000 of these highly desirable pressies… so be quick to ‘click’ on the button below or you will be one of the many disappointed little ones this July Christmas.

http://www.icetv.com.au/news/?p=798

With the new version of IceTV Interactive on its way… now is the perfect time to add another year to your existing account or join the IceTV community for the first time and experience the difference for yourself.

Grab yourself (or a loved one) a July Christmas pressie and enjoy all the new features when they’re available.

Happy Christmas in July,

General Discussions / Re: Discount offer

Hi Guys,

Does the $49 a year discount offer add on to the end of the current subscription period?

Quote from: kidhazy on April 02, 2009, 06:31:52 PM
Typically that's the way most of the ICE TV offers work.   Whenever you buy another 3,6, 12 month (etc) subscriptions it adds on to your existing subscription.

This is correct. If you have an existing (paid) IceTV subscription then any subscription you purchase will be automatically added to the end of your current subscription.

If you are on a free trial however, then the initial subscription you purchase will take affect and be added from that day onwards.

So if you received any promotional offer and want take advantage of it... then make sure you go for it while the offer is available.

Cheers,

The IceTV Forum is primarily for community discussion and while it is monitored by several IceTV Staff members, it is not the most efficient method for the resolution of any technical or guide issues you may or may not be experiencing.

The most efficient way to contact our team is via our Customer Support line on 1300 654 803 or 02 8424 7555 (9am-9pm weekdays and 12-6pm weekends - Sydney time) or via the Contact Us page on our website;

http://www.icetv.com.au/cgi-bin/webpage.cgi?op=show_contact

We apologise for any delays in responding to forum posts but if you require a rapid response then please use the methods above.

Who knows... maybe one day we will be big enough to afford a full time staff member to monitor and look after those that are feeling lonely on our Forum.  :)

As always, we greatly appreciate all the attempts from those trying to help us improve the quality of our service.

Rest assured that although there may be silence at times... we are busy working away in the background trying to improve our existing service for users whilst also trying to release new and exciting features that give you even greater control.

Cheers,

Hi Chooper,

We apologise for any inaccuracies within our EPG data and for the occasional "N/A Channel Nine" found in our coverage for Channel Nine's programming.

IceTV is presently acting within the terms of the orders made on the 9th of May by the Full Court of the Federal Court and will continue to do so until the ongoing legal matter with the Nine Network has been resolved.

On the 4th of June 2008, IceTV lodged its application for special leave to appeal to the High Court of Australia regarding the judgment and orders made by the Full Court of the Federal Court and on the 26th of August 2008. The High Court granted IceTV special leave to appeal the decision and the matter was heard on the 16th & 17th of October last year in front of the full bench of the High Court of Australian. We are now awaiting a decision.

As per the orders made by the Full Court of the Federal Court on the 9th of May last year, we are not permitted to use any printed or online guide source for any of Nine's programming and we will not be changing any of our current methodology until the matter has been resolved.

We understand your obvious frustration and we will endeavour to supply as accurate information as possible for all channels within our EPG. Unfortunately at this stage, there is no new news to share regarding our ongoing case with the Nine Network.

Rest assured we will notify everyone as soon as a judgment has been made by the full bench of the High Court of Australia and we thank everyone for their continued support and patience during this time.

Cheers,

mattk
