I take it that with digital media, the IceBox monitors for "flashing discs" you see in old movies that alert the projectionist to first get ready to switch projectors and then to switch them so that you get a relatively smooth transition from one reel to another.

That being the case, with digital media, a whole lot more information is also contained in these markers. I would guess that there should be data marking the start and end of the recording.

It would be great if a bookmark could be placed at the actual start and end of the recording. Also, it would be nice to have a key sequence to jump forward to the next bookmark and jump backwards to the previous bookmark.

Thanks. The channel numbers are back.

Any reason as to why the ABC channels have gone AWOL?

I use a wireless mini keyboard. I've attached a cheat sheet for the commands to drive the IceBox.

Ok, a soft reset did the trick but the channel order is all over the place. I thought I'd fixed the missing channels but as the list below shows all the ABC channels are missing.

I seem to recall there was an option to have the channel number the same as the LCN,  but cannot find it now.

Previously the channel numbers were.

11 - 10 Peach
12 - 10 Bold
13 - Nickelodeon
15 - 10 HD

20 - ABC HD
22 - ABC 2
23 - ABC 3
24 - ABC News 24

30 - SBS HD
32 - Viceland
35 - World Movies

70 - 7 HD
72 - 7 Mate
74 -
75 - 7 Bravo
76 - 7 Flix

90 - 9 HD
94 -
95 -
96 -
99 - 9 Go!

Now it shows as:

 1 - 10 Peach
 2 - 10 Bold
 3 - Nickelodeon
 4 - 10 HD

 5 - SBS HD
 6 - Viceland
 7 - World Movies
 8 - NITV
 9 - World Watch

10 - 7 HD
11 - 7 Two
12 - 7 Mate
13 - 7 Bravo
14 - 7 Flix

15 - 9 HD
16 - 9 GO
17 - 9 Life
18 - 9 Gem
19 - 9 Rush

The automatic ad skipping is great, however something that might be even better is what my Beyonwiz does and that is to place a bookmark at the actual start and end of a particular program. What is being used to detect the end of an ad break could be done here.

So, looks like I am going to have to do a few more soft resets to get all channels, or is there another way to achieve this and not have to go through setting things up?

Any tips or pointers appreciated.

Quote from: Hati on March 21, 2024, 06:51:44 PMThe process worked as advertised, except for one small (or large if you ask my better half) issue: the rescan completely ignored Channel 7. Got everything but 7 back.

What now?

On my system, I got all the Sydney channels except the 9 Network ones.

Beyonwiz / Re: Beyonwiz U4 EPG completely blank
December 26, 2023, 08:35:32 AM
I had parts of mine blank on my T2. A reboot saw the EPG repopulated.

Another option would be to disable the IceTV EPG. Then enable it.

IceTV EPG Content / Re: Monday EPG Data Missing

G'day,

I WAS Scanning the Guide on my Beyonwiz T2 yesterday evening and noticed 9 Network had no e tries from Monday. I did a reboot and that appears to have corrected things.

Getting Help / Disable or change dimming

G'day,

Is there any way of disabling the dimming; or at the very least extending the time interval?

Thanks.

Getting Help / Re: Cannot Access Ice TV
September 02, 2023, 05:55:08 PM
G'day,

A while back I had a similar thing happen. It is something like the BIOS settings screen, only you cannot retire the screen. I left on overnight and no change so ended up powering off at the wall and then powering back up. It loaded PK, and I have not had it happen again.

I will say that I am lucky to get mine to work for more than 24 hours and when I restart it I get the write errors needing a further restart.

General / Re: suitable alternate remote for ICEbox?

Found it.

It is a case of knowing what to search to get the answer you are after.

A long press of the OK button brings up the menu.

It should also be available by typing C on the keyboard and the right mouse button. I missed the C option. C because it is referred to as the Context menu as it changes depending on when it is called up.

Quote from: srto2 on July 24, 2023, 01:39:38 PMThe only function that I feel is missing, at this stage, is a Red Button, for instant record.  Not a big deal though, it's quickly accessible from the Kodi menus.  Remapping can probably achieve that.  Probably after the next Test...

I have thrown my ICE RCU away now!  Not really - but I can certainly do all I need without it.

Thanks for the button mapping however I have searched high and low but cannot find the key combination for the "List" button In a Windows environment, this referred to as the Properties button. In Windows, this is pressing the Properties button or the right mouse button.

I have gone through every key on my mini wireless keyboard, but none bring up this command sequence.

Anyone managed to find this out?

Thanks.

Quote from: TimC on July 27, 2023, 03:31:18 PMI think you will find that a "S" key (Keycode 83, based on the Virtual Keycode set) will generate what you are looking for, i.e. it opens the Power context menu where you select the Power down option.

Thanks.

FWIW, I am using a wireless Mini Keyboard (with a touchpad although I rarely use the touchpad). The touchpad should give you normal mouse actions.

It does need to be recharged every so often (it uses a phone battery), and I cannot find a suitable key combination to match the power button on the standard remote control. I have the standard remote control for that :)

A good Kodi "cheat sheet" should give you the keys to more controls.

Not Time-shifting, but I have been driving my IceBox using a Mini Wireless Keyboard and Touch Pad. I can use all the features of the standard remote except for a keyboard command to do what the Power button does.

What do those with a BYOB do? Do they have to use the standard remote?

My reason for using the Mini Keyboard (which I got with an Android box) is that the standard remote control was too inconsistent and I would spend ages pressing the right arrow that the system would time out.
