I've retired my trusty humax which works fine. I have the remote. I'll ship if I have to at buyers cost but I'm on the central coast NSW. swamprat96@gmail.com

General Discussions / Kodi, HDhomerun and ICETv
May 12, 2017, 09:16:47 AM
OK OK- there's probably a million Kodi post- but as the search is still broken I can't find them.

I'm readying myself for the imminent failure of my Humax HDR7500T. I have a Nvidia shield TV running Kodi and an HDhomerun as its replacement.  The HDHomerun has its own EPG which is a total POS compared to ICETv. Being a long term icetv user I'd like to use it again for Kodi but can find little on this anywhere. I know there is an XML service which I used long ago on an HTPC so I imagine there will be a plugin to handle Icetv/ Anyone know anything or can point me to a link?

and on facebook
[ABC iView service will be retiring from HUMAX]
Dear everyone,
Despite our love for ABC iView for last 4 years, we have to share this sad news that ABC have decided to stop its service on some Set Top Box and it includes HUMAX.
iView service will no longer be available on HUMAX products from 1st July through HUMAX TV Portal.
We will be launching another catch up service shortly to replace ABC iView's space.
Affected models are HDR-7500T, HDR-7510T, HDR-1003S, HMS-1000T.
Please note:
HMS-1000T customers can continue using iView through HbbTV application.

Open the portal on the humax. The message comes up there.  As to the pvr  capabilities it's fine but it's the media playback that's poor

Humax / Iview retired on Humax
June 07, 2015, 05:33:32 PM
Just got the message on the humax that iview is not going to be supported on the humax. That's the end for me and I'll be looking to retire the humax soon. I don't know enough about the skippa to consider it yet.
I hesitate as the humax was supposed to so many things yet failed in most. It is a competent TV tuner and that's about it.
To jump to yet another appliance is not an easy decision. With no control over what apps can be installed and relying on the manufacturers again is not encouraging.

Htpc is still too fragmented. Appliances are too regimented and not supported long enough nor well enough in most cases.

I may just put a haupage tuner in my ancient wdtv live and use that until more comes out on the skippa. Or I may try htpc and again

correct. I gave up on the Humax for media playback- its just too awkward. I use it only for live TV and the guide now

Bug. Leaving a very slow YouTube which was not on full screen gave me a small picture on normal TV.  Had to reboot

So long as you are sending the sound to the TV it should.  Don't have one but have played with one.  If it's connected to your TV it works is their slogan

Wow. That seems odd.  You'd think a pvr would be able to be close to a tv :D. Mines within 60cm of a 50" plasma.

I'll have to disagree with you there.  That version destroyed what little multimedia ability this device had. To the point I may be retiring my humax soon.  Maybe not everyone uses dlna but it lost features here with this version. But to answer your question I saw no difference between this and .21

So once again Humax release an unfinished product. To be honest it seems as if most PVR manufacturers are guilty of this. The 7500T is not bad- but its 2 years old and still has bugs. Other manufacturers like TVIX and Strong are reknowned for buggy software.

PVR's just don't have the sales volume to attract major players - and get finished products. I wonder what the FetchTV box is like- ie is it also unfinished?
