IceTV EPG Content / Re: The Project

Hi I'm using SageTV so I have to use the XMLTV plugin to upload the guide. Thanks for confirming nothing has changed recently on your end for that show - I'll have a look into it further at my end. My setup is generally extremely reliable and it's just this show I'm currently having problems with. The only time I've seen these sort of problems in the past is when the same show ID has been used in the guide as one that was used in the past - therefore the recorder doesn't record the show, believing it already has. The unusual thing was it recorded the night time repeat screening of the project, so perhaps I have another sort of conflict, I'll look into it some more. Thanks again, Mick

Hi
Just wondering has anything changed in the guide for this show (channel 10) over the last week or two - have been having issues recording it and at one point it said it was a repeat from 2009 not sure if it got a bad show id? - That seemed to correct itself the next day, but I still keep missing the 6:30pm recordings for some reason despite deleting and re-adding the favourite in my pvr software several times - can you please check the show ids etc are all in order. There is a daily rerun of the same episode at 11:30 I believe.
Many thanks
Mick

Thanks for the replies guys

To determine if an ep is a repeat all PVR/NAS recording software that I know of either rely 100% on repeat flags or use the series and episode numbers (when they exist).
FYI this is not the case with Sage TV which is what I use, in addition to the repeat flag as a first level filter, it will use the show ID to determine whether or not something has already been recorded, which can work very well if you miss an episode due to scheduling conflict etc with the networks often re-screening shows now at an alternative time during the following days etc now with so many channels to fill ...

So I understand what's normal, if they are repeating lets say australian survivor in 6 months time, will the episodes be given the same show IDs are they have for this run? or do repeat screenings normally get different show ids?

Hi thanks for the reply Tiphanee

Yeah I noticed that too - I went back and looked in the guide xml file afterwards too but I wasn't sure if it had changed at any point but sounds like not. The first airing on sunday night was marked as premier but the second screening (i think today sometime from memory) was marked as a re-run. However the shows have the same show ID so I suspect my system has updated the information for the show to be a repeat based on the second instance of it.

Which makes me wonder - I'm not sure what the correct/normal way to represent that situation is. To me a second airing of the same show just on a different day isn't really a rerun - a rerun is when they are repeating something from the past, so for my recording software at least I'd expect the duplicate airing to have the same show id and not be marked as a rerun. That allows me to set "first runs only" but still have the software choose the best one to record if all the tuners are busy on sunday night then it can record monday's....  i would have thought having the same show ID means most recording software would skip the duplicate as it's obviously a repeat... if that makes sense??

Cheers

They are showing a delayed telecast of the finals on Monday Morning - 11/7, channel ONE, 6am to 10am (6am to 8am match one, 8am to 10am match two) - ICE guide is still showing regular programming.

General Discussions / Re: Credit card surcharge
May 20, 2014, 01:36:23 PM
@csutak40  Here's how it looked for me - the red text was initially hidden then appeared and changed depending on which card you select in the drop box:

I agree I hate this stuff - I can understand a surcharge if one payment method is a lot more expensive than the others. But the basic costs of doing business, including accepting payments, should be built into the advertised product cost. Like you say it's not like they are accepting other payment options. Soon everything will become like the absolute farce booking an airline ticket is these days... oh, you want wings on your plane? that'll be an extra $5 per passenger....

IceTV EPG Content / Formula One Showing as Repeat
April 15, 2012, 10:15:14 AM
Hi I'm using Sage TV and am having problems with the Formula 1 not recording as it's showing as a repeat (both the main race and qualifying). This is on ONE (not channel 10) so shouldn't be the case. Looking at the guide xml it actually looks correct to me - so wondering why Sage is detecting a repeat - you're not reusing old episode id's or anything like that are you by any chance?

Thanks

Hi Guys,

The year is back in the title of the tennis: Australian Open 2010

This issue of putting the year in sports event titles has been raised before here:  http://www.icetv.com.au/iceforum/index.php?topic=946.0
and here: http://www.icetv.com.au/iceforum/index.php?topic=1456.0
and I'm sure in other threads too.

The only reason I have an ice subscription (over using broadcast EPG) is to enable series recording on my media center. If you put the year in the show title this spoils a key feature of series recording - it will not automatically pick up a new series when it starts - i have to manually setup a new series every year.

I don't understand why this continues to be a problem? The previous suggestions were to put the year in the subtitle and I like this idea.

Thanks

Yeah, I think various software is more or less tolerant to different quirks in the guide data, depending on the assumptions it makes. I suspect Sage is taking issue with the dup episode number, but I'm yet to prove this - will do some testing when I get a chance. In some respects though I'd expect it to show all shows as repeats if that was the case...

Hi Daniel, I'm using Sage TV. It's interesting I had a bit of a look tonight, in the guide XML it looks like this:

<programme start="20090328090000 +0000" stop="20090328093000 +0000" channel="62">
<title lang="en">At the Movies</title>
<desc lang="en">Film critic luminaries Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton plunge into the world of cinema afresh. </desc>
<category lang="en">Entertainment</category>
<episode-num system="icetv">1550-0</episode-num>
<previously-shown start="20080213"/>
<subtitles type="teletext"/>
</programme>

<programme start="20090329070000 +0000" stop="20090329073000 +0000" channel="61">
<title lang="en">At the Movies</title>
<desc lang="en">Film critic luminaries Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton plunge into the world of cinema afresh. </desc>
<category lang="en">Entertainment</category>
<episode-num system="icetv">1550-0</episode-num>
<previously-shown start="20080213"/>
<subtitles type="teletext"/>
</programme>

<programme start="20090401110000 +0000" stop="20090401113000 +0000" channel="61">
<title lang="en">At the Movies</title>
<desc lang="en">Film critic luminaries Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton plunge into the world of cinema afresh. </desc>
<category lang="en">Entertainment</category>
<episode-num system="icetv">1550-0</episode-num>
<subtitles type="teletext"/>
</programme>

I can see the "previously shown" tags there on the correct entries - all seems to be well, but it's still showing as "First Run" in Sage. Other shows like Parkinson correctly show as repeats. The only thing I can think of is that the episode number doesn't seem to be changing on At The Movies?? Could this be the problem?

Okay, sorry if that's the case - I'll keep an eye on it!

Thanks for the quick response
