I don't have a 3000T but thought you should get a reply, I don't think many people use this forum any more. I have a 7500T in a fringe area and for sure the Humax reception is not as solid as my cheap Bauhn TV.

So without any personal experience of the 3000T I would not be totally surprised if it is operating normally.

Channel 9 recently added new channels and moved others. I had to do a general re-scan although if I waited long enough the Humax would have done this itself I think?
One annoying side effect is that now Channel 2 Melbourne is giving weak/no signal. From what I understand if the device picks up more than one version of the same signal it allocates the remainder to the 300 section. Should pick the strongest signal for the primary number but not always so. I'm now watching Channel 2 on 351 or something like that.
So as a first strike you could search for the problem channels in the 300 section. If you find better signals there that may be your problem, i.e. the Humax has allocated signals poorly. I'll probably do another re-scan some time.

Thanks Fred. It seems to be every loader/firmware and 75x0 models.

Is anyone in Melbourne having the issue?

• Change to channel 90.
• Press Pause and see if it pauses.

Or test recording 9HD:

• Switch to channel 90.
• Check that you can see the 9HD logo onscreen.
• Press Record.
• Wait 1 minute and press Info.
• Note that the recording progress bar in the top-left corner has not moved at all.
• Press Media and check if you can see the file that is recording.
• Press Exit.
• Press Stop.
• Press OK.
• You will now see the "Recording (less than 30 secs) may not be stored." warning.

That's exactly what mine does on Melbourne 9HD.

I communicated with Humax Australia on Friday and they asked me to reset to factory defaults which did not help. They then asked which loader version my PVR had. So it seemed like they were not aware of the issue and suspect it may only relate to the original 7500T (the one with the a7.54 loader).

There have been people posting on Humax's Facebook page since 1st December saying the 7510T does not record 9HD.

Confirming that my 7500T will not record 9HD either.

I don't have an answer but I'm replying so you don't feel like the forum has expired. My Humax is still going strong, has never missed a beat. Having said that, I'm not a high end user and also am network connected via cable rather than wireless. Maybe that's the Hummy's sweet spot.

In my experience the Humax has poorer low signal strength ability than other appliances. I also live in a regional area.

I have a theory that the Humax has some kind of skip capability when there is insufficient data (due to signal strength), but that this is not always consistent each time the data is read, as you have observed.

Similarly to you I get Melbourne and regional channels with a masthead amp.

This is just a theory and possibly the result of imbibing excessive amounts of Abbotsford Invalid Stout.

Any issues I've had in relation to your point 1 are due to signal strength, pixelation a definite sign. I live in a weak signal area and use a masthead amp (see my other post), but I also believe the Humax's signal ability is poorer than other appliances. Do you live in a lower signal area? I recently had 'no signal' issues like your point 2 and fixed it by doing a channel re-scan, however this was on regional channels.

The 5V Antenna Power function is for use with a masthead amplifier on your antenna. If you don't have a masthead amplifier this function 'should' not help (having said that, with antennas I would believe anything). Most masthead amps in Australia are not 5V so a separate power source must be used if you have one.

The system works by sending voltage up the antenna cable core and returning it via the shielding. The amplifier picks up the voltage and also isolates it from the antenna. If you don't have an amplifier the voltage would be directly across the antenna which is not a good idea and probably why you get an error message.

So, you have a signal problem but unless you have a 5V masthead amp (unlikely) you should not use the 5V function. Do you get good signal with antenna directly to the TV?

UPDATE: Thinking about it some more, maybe you DO have a masthead amp (which could be anything from 12V upwards) and by some miracle the 5V power from the Humax is enough to get it working, but the current draw due to the voltage mis-match is too much for the Humax to sustain.

I use Freemake Video Converter. It also has basic cut and join capability.

At that price it would wanna be.

Just a couple of observations:-

I've got a permanent rear mounted usb stick (ouch that makes my eyes water) formatted in ext3. Last night I tried to re-format it in NTFS using the Humax but that menu option was greyed out. Formatted in on the PC ok but have not tried to copy to it yet.

When I delete everything from the usb stick via the Humax, there are remnant files left on it which I can see from my PC. Seems the only way to remove everything is to re-format the stick or plug it into the PC.

How is the 'manual update' supposed to work? When you select it the unit starts doing a channel scan, according to the manual it is searching for software?
