Thanks for your help Dave. The Humax has a fully loaded schedule again. I suspect the long term fix is to hide annual leave application forms from the munchkin

General Discussions / No More Recording This Week
July 21, 2016, 06:27:43 AM
I have posted here as I suspect the fault is at the IceTV server end rather than at my PVR

Is the iceTV munchkin who programs recordings on our Humax 7500T on leave for a week? He has not programmed any shows on our recorder before next Monday. We normally record series such as "The Coroner", "New Blood", "Scott & Bailey" etc. I looked at the scheduled recordings on the web site and he has not set any there either, so the problem does not appear to be at our end.

If he is on leave, I do hope he enjoys himself, as he deserves a good break given he usually does such  an excellent job.

Thanks Dave.

I actually did whay you said the week before last and it worked.

It just intrigues me about the conflict. There is usually a conflict with an Escape to the Country at 7:30pm, but I Kill off that episode. I wonder whether there is some vestige of that conflict remaining. Perhaps the Humax prefers to watch Escape to the Country rather than Grand Designs:-)

Anyway, thanks for responding so quickly.

We record The Voice at 7pm and Grand Designs at 7:40pm on a Sunday night. However, our Humax7500T does not accept Grand Designs, advising that "Episode failed to be scheduled".

There are no other shows scheduled for recording on Sunday  according to IceTV and the Humax.

This happens each Sunday. As Professor Julius Sumner Miller queried "Why is this so?"

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Humax / Re: Iview retired on Humax

Thanks Swamprat,

That demonstrates how often I open the portal.

And I am not a fan of Facebook, so I am totally out of touch.

Swamprat96, thanks for the advice. Where did you hear that iView is not going to be supported?

Luckily iView is supported on our Samsung TV and Sony BluRay player, so we never really used iView on the Humax. I cannot say I am impressed with the apps on any of the three devices. Our most reliable streamer is the AppleTV, but it doesn't have iView.

Our Humax does well as a PVR. We are happy with its performance. The whole family knows how to use it.

Some wild conjecture!

Your UHD TV may be using a different upscaling algorithm for digital video via HDMI compared to upscaling the analogue composite video. So the answer may be in your UHD TV settings rather than the Humax.

You could also try setting different screen resolutions in the Humax setup. (The 7500T supports  576i - 576p - 720p - 1080i - Original. I don't know what the 7510T supports.) This change may trigger use of a different upscaling algorithm by the UHD TV.

Have you tried another HDMI source such as a BluRay player? It may help identify whether the problem is with the Humax or with the UHD TV.

Trialling another HDMI cable is well woth a try.

Humax / Re: No iView?

I upgraded my HDR-7500T to the new firmware version 1.08.26 and iView appears to work again.

The Humax site advised the following mods:

New Features and Fixed Problems
• ABC iView App Playback Issue Fixed

Has anyone else tried this upgrade?

Humax / New Firmware Version 1.08.25
November 11, 2014, 09:59:09 AM
I upgraded to a new firmware version yesterday. The changes listed are as follows

HDR-7500T S/W(Oct. 2014 / Latest Software) - Ver. 1.08.25
New Features and Fixed Problems
• Improved Series Recording capabilities
• Updated ABC iView App

We have since had one incident when replay of a prerecorded show froze. I had to turn the unit off and then on to unfreeze it.

Is iView working on any Humax firmware version now? This may be an ABC issue rather than a Humax issue?

Humax / Re: Firmware Version 1.08.22 for HDR 7500T

Fair comment.

We don't use our Humax for DLNA as it cannot play all required file types. Our Samsung Smart TV struggled with some HD files via WiFi. So, we use our SonY BluRay player for DLNA.

Humax / Firmware Version 1.08.22 for HDR 7500T

Has anyone loaded the latest firmware version 1.08.22?

The changes are listed as follows:
• Improved W-Lan Stick Compatibility

I find 1.08.21 has been excellent, so I am reluctant to upgrade unless there is some significant benefit.

I have tried it and it works well. I haven't played with the latest version, but I was impressed with the  earlier version. We don't use the app however, because we too have a Logitec Harmony remote that controls everything.

Even without the Harmony, I am not sure I would use the app. It takes more time to pick up the iPhone/iPad, enter a security code, and run the app, than it does to pick up a conventional remote.

Another issue is that you cannot use the app to turn the Humax on. So, you need a conventional remote around anyway. Even if you turn the Humax on by other means, it takes some time before it starts to respond to the humax remote app.

Humax / Re: Humax vs WDTVlive
April 05, 2014, 06:50:45 PM
We also like our Humax for its basic PVR capabilities. We used to use it for iView, but there was one firmware version where iView was dodgy (high tech term). Its ability to play files from other sources was patchy at best. So I did ponder purchase of the WD TV live.

Further investigations found that our Sony BluRay player could cope with most file types I threw at it via the USB port.  so I delayed the purchase. Them we purchased a new Samsung TV. It plays almost any file type, and provided a robust version of iView. We also have an AppleTV that allows most media types to be airplayed via apps on the iPhone or iPad

All these devices do part of the overall task. No one item is a complete solution. There is massive duplication. (YouTube everywhere). All the device are underpowered. (Eg. Just try copying  files from the Humax to an external drive. Moving large media files is not a trivial exercise)

Every device requires time periodically to sort out updates, bugs, communication issues etc. it is like there is a device tax on your time. So, it is hard to justify yet another media playing gadget. Hopefully next time we need to replace what we have, then a good, powerful, flexible, all-in-one solution is available.

Humax / Re: New Software - Feb 2014

We have the 7500T.
I have downloaded the three apps onto an iPad 4

The Remote app seems to work well, so that is a plus.

The Media Player does provide access to the recorded video on the Humax. You can download a show, though it can take ages, and then I assume watch it on the iPad. At first glance I have not found a way to stream a show. Not much use. As an alternative, I have used an app named 8Player to stream shows from the Humax. It seems to work well.

The LiveTV app does not even find the Humax

So a mixed bag, but there is promise for the future, assuming Humax intend to add support for our aussie Humax models.
