Getting Help / Recording Failures
October 11, 2023, 05:21:36 PM
I am still seeing these errors:  This is the third similar error this week.

Foreign Correspondent

'Series 2023, Episode 24'

ABC TV HD, 8:02pm, Thu, 12 Oct 2023, 34 minutes

Recording Options

This show is part of a series recording but will not be recorded. (There were not enough tuners to record this airing. It has been moved to the next airing on 2023-Oct-15 12:58:00)

8.02 PM??  With four tuners, I'm only recording from two networks this Thursday.  So is the problem with the Ice PlugIn/TvHeadend/Kodi/LibreElec or is it at the server end?

I can, and will, set a recording locally but the fundamental reson for subscribing in the first place is to, well, set and forget, and have the freedom to set recordings remotely.

I'm trying to be patient with these issues but would appreciate feedback, with some indication of any rectification progress.  I'm retired now and have limited funds for luxuries like my ICE subscription.

Help!  There seems to be a Sunday 3/9/23 ban for me!

1. Antiques Roadshow:  I have four available tuners but "This show is part of a series recording but will not be recorded. (There were not enough tuners to record this airing. It has been moved to the next airing on 2023-Sep-04 11:00:00)"

 2.  ABC News:  "There was an error scheduling this show to device IceBox.Could not find airing in the guide (no shows returned), cannot schedule timer. This show is part of a series recording."  Well, it is most certainly in the guide...

So with four tuners available, and nothing else to be recorded that day, the system has said "I can't do that, Dave",  - or Rob in this case...

This is not, of course, the end of the world, but a glitch that might be worth investigating.  I've deleted the timers and re-established them but with the same weird result.

I'm attempting to install BYOB to a spare Lenovo M920Q mini PC with an Intel i7-8700T with 16GB ram and a 1TB SSD and two ICE Tuners.  (With the instructions as per the website.)

The installation from USB appears to go smoothly but:.

1. On initial boot of LibreELEC the first message pop-up is "Communication Server Failed To Start"

2.When the install indicates "Installation Almost Complete" and asks for "NEXT", the setup of WiFi is skipped (Wired LAN is OK), ICETV setup is also skipped and The KODI menu appears.

3.  Subsequent Popups:  Headend Server 4.2 Update Fail and PVR Manager Fails To Start.

I can trawl thru the setup menus and enter WiFi details and ICE details but that doesn't help obviously.  A manual update of the Headend Server also fails.

I've looked at the Lenovo BIOS and checked that nothing should be inhibiting a Linux installation, and tried the install abou seven times now - with the same results, so it looks as if the PC might be the issue.  It was previously happily running Windows 11.

If anyone has any ideas to try I'd be most pleased, otherwise I might try a PC or laptop of lesser spec and see what happens.  My Beyonwiz T4 is currently stuffed, and my old DP-P1 (now back in service) is a bit flaky... so life is not worth living!

Regards, Rob

Edit:  I've installed onto an old i5 laptop with exactly the same result except that it did allow wifi detail entry, then skipped ICE and jumped to KODI.  Communication server failed again, no headend no pvr manager...

Beyonwiz / Login Failure
April 23, 2017, 11:13:23 AM
Good moaning,

My last successful fetch was at 1821 last night (22/4) and I'm getting the following error message:

The guide fetch from my android phone is working normally...

Any ideas people?

edit: Hmm.  The image didn't happen either but in short it's a login failure to 'api.icetv.com.au' port=80 : Read timed out

I just jumped on to schedule a couple of shows and found that "My Week" is only showing up to Monday.

IceTV EPG Content / 7 Two: The Sopranos
July 14, 2010, 09:55:19 AM
Last night the first episode of The Sopranos started at 2130-ish (Adelaide) whereas, as per the guide, my recording started at 2230 in time to catch the second episode.  To be honest I have no idea whether these shows usually run at 2130 or 2230 because I trust ICE to worry about that. I just watch them a day or so down the track; but if 7 is playing around with the scheduling perhaps the ICE guys could keep an eye on it for a while.

I've scheduled ABC1 News and ABCHD News to record today.  Is that going to cause a problem?  I record ABC1 News every day and only want to record HD as well today...

Topfield / IceBox2 and DST
October 29, 2006, 05:30:27 PM
Still problems in the Adelaide area.  The guide seems to be all OK now but the IceBox is 30 minutes behind, ie at 17:00 CDST the IceBox thinks it's 16:30 CDST.  This needs to be fixed or automatic daily guide fetches (in my case) will need to be rescheduled.

Cheers,
Rob

Topfield / ICEBOX2 A-OK
September 05, 2006, 07:40:20 PM
My new ICEBOX2 has now replaced my ICEBOX1:  No drama except for the "Open System" vs "Shared Key Authentication" that is opposite from what the ICEBOX1 needed.  PeterU, shame on you again!  If it was your fault, that is.

And for the WAF the LED's are brighter on the ASUS than the Netgear.  Otherwise she never would have noticed.  Sigh.

FTP trials next in a day or so.  ICEBOX1 for sale?

Cheers,
Rob
