SKIPPA / Skippa in need of a new home
January 19, 2020, 03:09:18 PM
I have a Skippa that has been barely used. It was in use for about a month or two until IceTV dropped support for it. I then packed it back into it's box where it's been ever since. I have no idea if it still works. If you want it then it's yours. You'll need to pick it up from Forest Hill, VIC, 3131. Send me a message if you're interested.

Regards,
Mantorok

IceTV EPG Content / Thunderbirds are Repeats
March 08, 2016, 07:21:04 AM
Thunderbirds are GO (the new animated series) on ABC3 are repeats. They were shown on 9GO last year.

The Melb guide has not flagged them as repeats.

What is the correct process to ensure the auto-renewal of the Ice TV subscription when the registered credit card expires or is cancelled?

Should I just register the new credit card or should the auto-renewal be disabled first?

Also, is there any surcharge for using an AmEx card?

Tomorrow nights (8 Nov) Dr Who episode on ABC is showing as a repeat for Melbourne. It is actually a first run.

SKIPPA / Firmware post 1.1.10604
October 21, 2015, 09:26:56 AM
Daniel/Dave,

Is there any new firmware currently in the works (either in development or testing) or is 1.1.10604 the last firmware we can expect for the foreseeable future?

If 1.1.10604 is the last firmware that's fine.  I'd just like to know so I can determine if I want to keep my Skippa or not. Not knowing is worse!

Regards,
Mantorok

I've noticed that anything the Skippa has recorded since upgrading to 1.1.10600 has not been processed for AutoSkip.  I've tried rebooting it several times but its still not working.

In the IceTV settings it says its processing a recording but it never finishes.  See attachment for an example.  Notice that its busy with a recording from 8-Oct 7:25pm but the current time is 9-Oct 6:16am.  It can't be taking nearly 11 hours to process a 1 hour recording.  It's the only recording on the HDD too.

I've now formatted the HDD and have scheduled a recording during the day.  I'll check it tonight when I get home.

I noticed jas55 mentioned he's having problems too in another thread (http://forum.icetv.com.au/iceforum/general/44/skippa-user-experience-so-far/4578/msg23301#msg23301)

Anyone else having problems?

SKIPPA / Random Reboot while changing channels
October 08, 2015, 08:45:30 AM
I'm not sure what value there is in posting this bug given that the company is in Voluntary Administration but here goes...

About 4 times now my Skippa has rebooted itself while I was changing channels.  The most recent one was last night several hours after installing the latest firmware (1.1.10600).  It's also happened once when turning on Closed Captions.

Anyone else getting this behavior?

BTW, I'm in Melbourne using the Mt Dandenong towers (in case its something do to with the signal).

SKIPPA / Channel Favourites
October 05, 2015, 12:58:56 PM
I'd like to see the Channel Favourites feature redesigned.  In its current form I find it's not very useful.

Usage:

Ideally a user should be able to define multiple Favourites, each with their own unique name that the user specifies. eg. You may want one for all channels, another for the channels you watch, maybe another for your spouse and perhaps another for the radio channels. So the names might be: All, Fred, Wilma & Radio

The FAV button will be used to select a particular Favourite.  Each press will cycle through the defined Favourites (ie. not the channels within a Favourite). eg. All -> Fred -> Wilma -> Radio -> All. The Channel Up/Down buttons will cycle through the channels defined for the currently active Favourite.  The currently active Favourite should be shown somewhere on the screen temporarily (perhaps the Info bar).

Setup:

The user will maintain the Favourites in Setup/Settings. Options to add, delete or modify a Favourite are available. When defining the channels within a Favourite perhaps show a list of available channels on the left and the ones selected on the right.  From here user can move channels from one side to the other.

When selecting channels to be added to a particular Favourite the user should be able to order the channels however they like.  ie. Not numerically by LCN.

Harmony Remote:

I noticed the FAV button is not defined in the Logitech Harmony database. Can someone at IceTV please add it.

SKIPPA / Skippa Shipping
July 13, 2015, 12:46:24 PM
What happens if no one's home to answer the door when our Skippas are delivered?  Will they be left at the front door, or will they need to be picked up from the local post office? Or something else?

SKIPPA / Opera TV Store Apps
May 29, 2015, 01:04:59 PM
Does anyone know where I can get a list of the apps that are currently available on the Opera TV Store?

There's not much information on their own website:  http://www.operasoftware.com/products/tv-store.

Dave at IceTV mentioned "100s of apps (mostly free) including Plex, games and Internet TV channels and radio channels etc. etc."

Having Plex is great for me as I have a NAS running a Plex Server, but I'd really like to know what other apps are there.

SKIPPA / New IceTV branded PVR
July 17, 2013, 01:13:43 PM
I read today that IceTV will be releasing their own PVR onto the market.

Link: http://news.icetv.com.au/news/blog/2013/07/16/tv-gets-mobile-as-icetv-plans-digital-recorder-with-mobile-streaming/

I for one am rapped such a device will be available here.  It's about time.  The PVR market has been stagnent for years. Let's hope this spurs other manufacturers to release some new models.

If anyone from Ice is reading this are you able to give any more details like tech specs, operating system, features, UI screenshots, release date...anything really!  ;D

Topfield / FOR SALE: IceBox1
July 07, 2009, 03:45:34 PM
Hi All,

I have an original IceBox1 (Netgear WGT634U) suitable for older model Topfields.  I has the latest firmware and comes complete with power supply, USB master-slave cable, ethernet cable and original box.

As my old Toppy gave up the ghost recently I really have no need for it anymore.  If you are interested please PM me with an offer for it.  I will consider anything $10 or over.

Delivery is via Australia Post.  If I can fit the box into a 3kg Pre-Paid ParcelPost satchel the cost will be $9.90 otherwise it will be around $15.  Alternatively you are welcome to pick it up in person.  I live in Forest Hill, Victoria.

NOTE:  The IceBox1 DOES NOT include an Ice subscription.

EDIT:  I can confirm that the box will fit into a 3kg Pre-Paid ParcelPost satchel so postage will be $9.90 to anywhere in Australia.

Channel 7 has made a recent change to their schedule and pushed Prison Break from 11pm to 11:30pm.

Is it possible to have it fixed before the 1pm update?

The IceGuide is showing "Heroes" (channel 7) starting at 10:30pm on Thursday (7-May-2009) but this was recently changed to 11pm.  This is for Melbourne but other regions are also affected.

See http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2009/05/bumped-heroes.html for more details.

Thanks...
