My PVR has been recording shows fine, at least since the website issues were fixed. However today I have received two odd failure emails:

Channel: NITV
Time: 2015-06-21 04:00:00
Duration: 60
Device Label: pvr
Device Type: Topfield TF7100HDplus
Message from recorder: TASK_MSG_INVALID_SERVICE
Last Updated: 2015-06-16 12:34:03

and later:

Show Name: National Nine News
Channel: Nine Digital
Time: 2015-06-21 18:00:00
Duration: 60
Device Label: pvr
Device Type:  Topfield TF7100HDplus
Message from recorder: TASK_MSG_INVALID_SERVICE
Last Updated: 2015-06-16 18:03:17

The first one doesn't even have a "Show Name"? When I click on it I don't recognize the program in the guide.

Why are these timers being set so many days ahead? What does INVALID SERVICE mean? I've never seen this before. Are these bugs in the new website?

The new web interface has dropped the search function. Any plans to restore this?

IceTV EPG Content / Nine News is now 1 hour
January 07, 2014, 09:14:15 AM
Qld Nine news has been 6pm + 1 hour for a little while but ICE has continued to list it each night as 6pm + 30 mins. The following Current Affair is now 7pm + 30 min.

Not sure if this is a permanent change by Nine.

I found my EPG did not fetch when I started my Topfield today so I went to the ICE site and find it extremely slow. I guess the two are related.

Note my general web access is normal and fast. Also, this ICE forum is fine. The slowness is only on the ICE site guide and "my account" pages etc.

IceTV EPG Content / Invalid ICE guide data
January 17, 2012, 03:27:31 PM
I have been getting invalid/inconsistent ICE guide data lately. E.g. late yesterday my wife complained that Days of our Lives (don't ask!) on 9 did not record that day and was also not scheduled for today. I checked the ICE guide for today and it had a yellow exclamation. On checking the guide data in my Topfield 7100+ I found Days shown for 2 to 3pm and an invalid entry for the cricket for 2.30 to 3pm on the same channel. Presumably this is why the yellow exclamation was presented. The ICE site guide was correct and only showed Days from 2 to 3pm, no cricket. I disabled ICE, restarted, and checked the FTA guide on my PVR which was now ok. Then enabled ICE again, restarted, and found the ICE data still showing the invalid cricket entry.

Something like this, with different programs but with conflicting start/end times, happened about a week ago also as I described here http://www.itopfield.com.au/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=3814&PID=37309&title=now-next-comes-and-goes#37309. Brisbane, Topfield 7100+, Jan 2010 firmware. Looks like an error in the Brisbane ICE data to me?

Can ICE or anybody suggest how best to set up ICE so that I don't miss the top Rugby League games? E.g. we missed the Rugby League Trans Tasman Test today because it had a different title to all the other NRL and representative games (actually we just missed the start because my wife was out and heard about it so she madly called me to record it manually). Given that sport, particularly the footy codes in Oz, are usually of strong interest to most ICE subscribers then there must be a better way for ICE to accommodate this?

If I use just a generic keyword search, e.g. "Rugby League" then I will get way too much junk recorded. I am not interested in the footy chat shows, local leagues etc. All I want (and most subscribers I suspect) is the NRL and representative games. How can I set up ICE to always get these games but not the junk?

Still has the "fail to return to previous position in guide/search" page bug.

Also, you really need to fix that problem where one-off shows such as movies etc are by default recorded as a series. We experienced users are used to toggling the series option off immediately but it is very confusing for new/infrequent users. A number of others on this forum have complained about this specific issue.

Seems pretty good now. All of the bugs I and others have mentioned seem to have been addressed, and some of the features I requested have been added. Thanks heaps for adding the metacritic and rottentomatoes links for movies. These really are useful - would be good to have this feature added to the main ICE web site also!

Not sure how long this has been happening but I noticed today that my ICETV app is not working on my iphone. All of my timers are series recordings but if I select one that is already set (i.e. full red series) then the program detail display always says that the episode is part of a series recording but not scheduled to be recorded. My options are only to cancel the series recording or to record that episode (even though it is already set to record).

If I select any random program (not queued) and set a one-off recording via the app, then I can't cancel that recording via the app because when I select it again then I am only given the option to record it again, even though it is marked with a red circle on the guide page.

All seems to work ok on the ice web site. Iphone app version 1.4(6) on iphone 4 with iOS 4.2.1.

I use the ICETV remote web interface merely as a web program guide. I've noticed there is information available in the downloaded ICE epg data which is not available in ICETV remote. E.g. the list of actors, the director, and the year of production for movies are available in the guide data (and therefore on my Topfield 5000) but this data is not displayed in the ICETV remote web pages. Can this be added please? I.e. ensure that all information available in the guide is available in web remote?

I can't imagine any reason why this data is not available other than being a technical oversight when the web remote pages were implemented?

I sent an email to ICE support asking for this but got little response so I thought I'd bring it up here for discussion.

I'd like ICE to consider adding a "generic xmltv" device to their ICE remote service which would merely save the recorded schedule to an XML file which could be downloaded explicitly by the user (or ideally the recording flag could be merged as an explicit new XML tag into the user's base XMLTV file although this may not be as easy for ICE to do?)

I would think this would not be difficult for ICE to do (at least compared to supporting a new actual device) but could then be exploited by the community solutions like TEDS etc? E.g. I use my own home grown script to pull down the ICE xml data and do favourites searching etc for my toppy 5000. There are other similar community solutions available. If I/we could programmatically get at the remote data then we could exploit the wonderful web/phone interface provided by ICE to set timers/favourites/series etc.

C'mon ICE, can't be that hard to add this? Failing that, can somebody from ICE please explain how I can set my remote preference to one of the existing devices and get the data programmatically?

IceTV EPG Content / Australian Story on ABC
September 01, 2007, 12:55:30 PM
The repeat ("previously-shown") flag is not set correctly on Australian Story. E.g. todays episode on ABC was a repeat of the same episode shown last week on ABC but was not indicated as a repeat.

IceTV EPG Content / No repeat flag on Dateline
May 16, 2007, 07:55:58 PM
Dateline is repeated multiple times on SBS but the repeats are not flagged. Any chance we can have this flagged? I think there are other examples, E.g. Media Watch is repeated on ABC2 but not flagged.

IceTV EPG Content / Tag for Hot Docs?
September 19, 2006, 08:30:29 PM
Cutting Edge is on SBS Tue nights at 8.30pm followed by Hot Docs at 10pm. The Cutting Edge episode is always tagged as "Cutting Edge: Whatever the episode is titled" but the Hot Docs program merely has the episode title and there is no mention of "Hot Docs" in the title or description or anywhere. I have seen that most online and printed guides do include the "Hot Docs" tag in the title (including the SBS web site). Any chance ICE can do this too?
