Windows Media Center / Channel Logos
December 06, 2016, 10:08:53 PM
For some time now a couple of things have bothered me with the channel logos from IceTV:

  • In Sydney the 7 network HD channel is a HD version of 7mate, yet the logo provided by IceTV is the plain channel 7 (main channel) logo - not even a HD variation. This can be confusing when scanning the guide as it looks like the standard channel 7, when it is actually 7mate HD. Can we get a more appropriate logo for this channel?
  • The SBS main channel logo is black. For 7MC the background of the logo area is black. SBS looks like it has no logo unless you look very close. Can something be done to make the SBS logo more visible?

Minor quibbles I know, but the the logos look really great and the effect is a bit let down by these two.

Given that this is my main issue with IceTV it should indicate how well it is otherwise running. Keep up the good work guys.

Windows Media Center / Gem maps to 9HD
February 19, 2016, 08:13:21 PM
IceTV on my Win7 Media Center keeps changing the mapping of Channel 92 - GEM to the guide for 9HD. I manually have changed it a number of times to link 92 to Gem-IceTV, but within a few minutes it changes itself back to 9HD-IceTV. Channel 90 is also (correctly) mapped to 9HD-IceTV.

How do I make sure that 92 displays the GEM giude, not 9HD?

Windows Media Center / IceTV Crashing
November 20, 2015, 05:40:40 PM
I have one of my WMC PCs constantly losing the guide, and when I check the IceTV program has crashed. Today when I restarted the guide downloaded and then the WMC XML loader crashed. Attached is a screenshot of the errors in the IceTV program log.

I'm running V3.0.0.36

Any ideas what the issue may be?

Thanks

Windows Media Center / Missing Scheduled Recordings
December 28, 2012, 09:45:39 PM
So much for "Never miss your favourite show again". Over the last couple of weeks I have had movies I set to record fail to record due to them being pre-empted. It seems I schedule the movie for a single recording then on the day of the movie screening I get a guide update that changes the start time and the movie does not record because it is pre-empted. The message in the media center history says it is because the previous show is now on at the scheduled start time.

This evening it happened to three movies that were scheduled - "Live And Let Die", "The General's Daughter" and Friends With Money". In each case today's guide update (at around 6PM) moved their start times back 5 minutes causing all of them to fail to record due to them being pre-empted by the previous shows still scheduled in the guide at the originally scheduled start times. Surely a change in scheduled start time should just move the recording to the new time, not cause it to be dropped.

IceTV EPG Content / Formula 1 Qualify rescheduled
October 09, 2010, 06:18:28 PM
The Formula 1 qualifying has been postponed until tomorrow due to rain in Japan. One HD announced they will be covering it live from 12 Noon AEDT tomorrow - will the Ice guide be updated to reflect this?

The guide listings for 7 and 7HD are out of sync from Sunday 4/4/2010. Programs on 7 are listed as 2 hours after those on 7HD. eg - News is on at 6:00PM on 7HD and 8:00PM on 7. I have downloaded the latest listings to be sure.

Happening on both Vista and Win7 Media Center. I suspect it has something to do with the end of daylight saving early on Sunday morning as this is when the error starts.

Windows Media Center / IceTV data missing
October 31, 2009, 10:33:44 PM
I installed IceTV beta for Win7 and cannot get the -IceTV channel listings for some channels. ONE HD (on LCN1), GO!, ABC1 (on LCN2) and TEN Digital do not have any listings with the -IceTV suffix when I scroll through the lists in edit listings, so I am only getting EIT data for these channels.

7 Digital (on LCN 7) says it is assigned to 7 Digital - IceTV, but neither this or the default 7 Digital is listed in the cahnnel lists if I go into edit listings.

All other channels appear OK. I am using the Sydney guide.

IceTV EPG Content / Guide incorrect - again!
February 08, 2009, 04:18:28 PM
I've been with IceTV for over 3 years now and am subscribed up until 2010. During that time I've had little to complain about, even understanding the problems getting the full guide for chanel 9. But now I find I am compaloning about guide accuracy twice within two weeks.

Two weeks ago I posted this - http://www.icetv.com.au/iceforum/index.php?topic=1530.0 - about episode names in Biggest Loser being duplicated and causing problems with series recordings. It received no response from IceTV or even a correction in the next guide update.

Today I set up for theopening round of the World Rally Championship on SBS. I sit down to watch it and got soccer! Check my guide and it says WRC on SBS from 3:30PM to 5:00PM. Download a guide update just in case and no change.

Check IceTV and the guide there says WRC on SBS from 3:30PM to 5:00PM.

Check the SBS website and it says WRC on SBS from 2:00PM to 3:00PM!

Given that IceTV has always said that ABC and SBS are most cooperative in providing them with guide information I am most disappointed at this error. Particularly in light of my previously ignored guide correction.

For the first time since subscribing to IceTV, I am starting to wonder if my investment is worth it.

Please IceTV, prove me wrong....

The series record the wife set up for Biggest Loser didn't pick up Tuesday's episode so I got the usual "why not >:(?" from her. A quick look showd that the episode title for Tuesday is the same as for Sunday, so Vista Media Centre didn't schedule the recording as it was considered a re-run.

Can we please have the episode titles correct - or not there if they are unknown - so the series record won't get confused?

Thanks

IceTV EPG Content / WRC title change
February 17, 2008, 08:48:22 AM
I had a series record set up for this year's World Rally Championship when round one was screened a couple of weeks back. Today I was browsing the guide and found round 2 wasn't recording. Checking my settings  I noticed that when I set my scheduled record it was for

Motor Sport: FIA Wold Rally Championship 2008

Today's round is titled

Motor Sport: World Rally Championships 2008

Can there please be consistancy in the naming of these events so series records can pick up each round and can you also advise which title is the correct one? Thanks.

Windows Media Center / ABC changes and IceTV guide info
February 12, 2008, 08:17:33 AM
Following the ABC change yesterday and the subsequent changes by IceTV I notced that I did not have to rescan. I alsways used "ABC - Sydney" as the ABC channel, and it was (and is) still receiving the ABC, all I had to do was reassociate the guide to the channel. No rescan was needed, thankfully as having to set up all the series records again is a complete pain in the butt.

What concerns me, however, is I noticed, along with losing guide data to the ABC channels (expected) and having to reassociate the guide, I had also lost guide data to all the HD channels (unexpected) and also had to reassociate these channels to the guide. Worse, this broke any serioes recordings I had on the HD channels without my realising it, so I misssed one show last night as a result and have had to go through all my HD series recording this morning to delete and recreate them. I expected this sort of problem with ABC stuff, but there was no warning from IceTV about changes to the HD channels, so I was not happy to find recordings didn't work.

Can someone from Ice TV please explain why they felt the need to play with the HD guide information without letting us know so we could check things out.

Also, I am curious to know why the ABC change didn't seem to do anything other than have IceTV break the guide associations.

If you have a series record set for the Formula 1 you may want to check it will record. The actual race being telecast early on Monday morning is listed in the IceGuide with exactly the same sub-title and blurb as the qualifying on Sunday morning. As a result my Media Centre has looked at the sub-title "Round 13 Monza (Qualifying)" and assumed this is a repeat so has not scheduled it to record - Media Center reports "Another airing is being recorded on 9/9/2007".

Please IceTV, can you correct this and proof better. I only spoted this by accident and would have been most upset if I had missed this round.  :'(

Windows Media Center / Multiple Guides?
August 12, 2007, 12:58:15 PM
If I am able to receive both the Sydney channels and the Wollongong channels, is it possible to have both guides on my VMC? I'm guessing not, but thought I'd ask...  :-\

Windows Media Center / Guide Database Crashes.
October 29, 2006, 10:11:40 AM
I get lots of guide database crashes. They usually occur just ofter the guide download, so I use the DVB fix after guide update to correct it, but lately I've noticed it also happens after manual recordings.

I like to record bits of Rage when they have decent stuff on. I check the playlist and might record two or three bits of Rage overnight. I obviously don't use the guide for this, I set manual records to start and stop a specific times. This usually causes the guide database to crash and sometimes not record some of the set up recordings.

I have no idea what to do about it but it's drivung me nuts!

IceTV EPG Content / Consistency in Titles
October 23, 2006, 06:01:09 PM
A request to the Guide writers:

Can we please have some consistency in how shows are titled? I set up series recordings so I don't miss shows that I need to record, and they fail when the titles are changed without any apparent reason.

Some examples:

All year the WRC has been titled "MOTORSPORT - World Rally Championship" yet the final round this Sunday is "Telstra Rally Australia", so my series record misses it.

The Formula One this year has been titled "MOTORSPORT: Formula One 2006 Season" which means my series record will not pick up race one next year as the name will change.

"Dancing With The Stars" suddenly became "Dancing With he Stars (New Series)". Again, breaking the series record set-up.

I know it sounds picky, but can titles be consistent and descriptives like "new series" and "2006 season", etc be placed as a sub-title so the series record will work. I rely on my series recordings to find shows I like when they re-appear after an absence. I'm lazy and it saves me scouring the guide.

Thanks guys.
