Announcements / IceTV iPhone App 2.0(9) Issues
December 18, 2010, 09:29:05 PM
The latest version of our iPhone App was released to the Apple App Store on Thursday Dec 16, unfortunately there are several issues with this version that are causing difficulties for some users.

We have fixed the issues and submitted a new release to the Apple App Store for review late on Friday Dec 17. Unfortunately we cannot predict when this build will be released, we hope it will be sometime in the next week.

If you are experiencing issues with the app that leave you stuck then you will need to kill the app and start it again.

The procedure for doing this is as follows

iPhone 3G or any iPhone running IOS3
As these devices do not have multi-tasking avaiable simply hitting the home button and starting the app should be sufficient to clear the error.

iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 running IOS4
As these devices do have multi-tasking available you will need to do the following

  • Hit the home button to exit the application
  • Double-tap the home button to expose the multi-tasking shelf
  • Press and hold on any of the app icons on the multi-tasking shelf until the icons start to "jiggle" and display a close button
  • Press the close button on the IceTV App
  • Press the home button to close the mutli-tasking shelf
  • Start the App

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and ask for your patience while we wait for the Apple App Store review process to be completed on the latest version.

Windows Media Center / Win7 Sticky EPG Issue - GEM & 7mate
September 27, 2010, 03:12:44 PM
Since the release of the official Win7 IceTV Interactive client, it has come to our attention that there is an issue with the guide processing in Win7.

Guide loaded via loadmxf seems to be "sticky" in that subsequent guide loads containing updates do not always overwrite the existing entries resulting in old data appearing in the EPG. This issue is obvious for some of the current affair style programs where the topic of the program may not be know until shortly before the show goes to air, typically users will see that the generic description is still visible even though the website and other compatible devices show the latest data.

We are actively trying to find a solution to this issue and will release an updated Interactive client once we have a solution.

Now that 7mate & GEM have launched users may be experiencing issues with the old Nine HD and Seven HD (and regional variants) guide still being visible instead of the current guide of 7mate and GEM.

If you are experiencing issues then the only solution we have at this point is to perform a "media center recover task" which can be done via Control Panel > Administrative tools > Task Scheduler in the task library under Microsoft > Windows > Media Center.

Unfortunately this process will remove any locally scheduled recordings so bear that in mind if you intend to try the recovery task.

We believe that if you do not perform the recovery task as the new guide is loaded over the next 7 days the old guide will be flushed from the system.

Please contact IceTV support if you require any assistance.

IceTV EPG Content / 7mate & GEM are coming soon.
September 21, 2010, 04:05:09 PM
Channel Seven and Channel Nine are set to launch their latest channels

7mate on the Seven Network

Billed as being a "bloke-friendly" channel which promises to clear backyard sheds across the nation.

Programming on the channel is set to include first run episodes of popular shows like Gene Simmons, Family Jewels, Punk'd, Nitro Circus, American Dad, Family Guy, the list goes on. Suffice it to say if you're male and old enough to vote then there is likely to be something on this channel that appeals to you.

7mate will be replacing 7HD but will also be moving from Channel 70 to Channel 73.

At this time the Seven Network are advising that 7mate will launch on Saturday, September 25 at 6pm after the high definition coverage of the 2010 AFL Grand Final, which starts at 12.15pm.

For more information see 7mate

To ensure you get access to the new channel when it becomes available, you will need to perform a 'channel rescan' on your TV Recorder at home, once the new channel becomes available.

If you need instructions or are unsure how to do this, please click here for the applicable Setup Guide for your TV Recorder, or read the following;

If you come across any technical problems whilst trying to perform a 'channel rescan', please don't hesitate to contact us.

GEM on the Nine Network

GEM is targeted at the 35+ female market with a mix of new content, classic comedies, cherished drama series, all-time favourite movies, and oddly all of Nine's sport coverage in high definition

Leading the GEM lineup is the acclaimed new US drama series The Big C, starring Laura Linney as a woman making the most of her life after being diagnosed with cancer.

Also featuring on the new channel will be Weeds, Southland, Miami Medical, Secret Diary Of a Call Girl, The New Adventures of Old Christine and a host of others.

GEM will be replacing Nine HD and will remain on Channel 90 so it will not be necessary to update your TV Recorder in order to receive the new channel.

At this time the Nine Network are advising that GEM will launch on Sunday, September 26.

For more information see GEM

We’ve just turned 5 and to celebrate we’re offering our biggest deal ever.

That’s right, it’s been 5 years since we first launched our ground breaking service in Australia, back when people had barely heard the term “EPG”, let alone knew they would soon be able to record every episode of their favourite shows automatically, from virtually anywhere, anytime.

And what a remarkable roller-coaster ride it has been.

To see what our tiny team has achieved over the past 5 years and a sneak preview of what’s to come in just the next 5 months, please click here.

To mark this special occasion and to thank all of our loyal members for their ongoing support and for contributing to the success we’ve enjoyed over the past 5 years, we’re celebrating like never before.
Like $55 off a 12-month IceTV membership! (Available for the first 555 members only).

Topfield / Problems deleting old cache files
March 04, 2005, 02:16:14 PM
There have been a few reports of old guide data not being deleted so that on a reboot old data could be loaded into the EPG.

We tried to reproduce the problem in the office and found that it appears to be related to the firmware revision on the Topfield.

Of the two boxes in the office that were tested we found that version 5.2.56 ( Aug 18 2004 ) showed the problem while 5.2.60 ( Dec 06 2004 ) did not.

You can check the firmware version by going to the menu, selecting "Information" then "IRD Status", you should see something like this

System ID 416
Loader Version L4.16
Device Version v5.2.60
Application Version TF-NPTA 5.11.32
Last Update Dec 06 2004

The "Device Version" is the number you are looking for.

If you are experiencing these problems could you reply to this post with the firmware revision number so we can see if it is indeed firmware related.
