Windows Media Center / Changing system locales (warning)
November 27, 2008, 10:23:36 AM
Hi folks,

It is possible to cause IceTV Interactive to crash if you change system locales.  During Windows installation you may forget to set your Windows regional/locale settings to Australia before you install IceTV interactive.

If you update your MCE guide, and then correct your system locale, it can cause IceTV interactive to crash.  This is caused by the VB code attempting to parse the "last MCE update" date in the registry key and failing because it expects an Australian formatted date.

I assume the IceTV guys will fix this with a sanity checker in their code at some point, but in the meantime you can fix it by deleting the offending registry key.  It's located in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IceTV\IceTV Interactive and is named "last_update".
