Windows Media Center / Reminder - New Feature Request
November 20, 2010, 09:08:34 PM
Hi

Is it possible to build in a feature which reminds you when a certain program starts.

i.e. You are watching a show and have set a reminder (not a recording) for a different show. A reminder pops up to let you switch channel (or perhas record) the 2nd show..

Any takers?

General Discussions / Orb support
September 15, 2010, 09:22:24 PM
Hi

I've been an IceTV member for years and greatly appreciate this product for my HTPC.

Have recently installed ORB for remote streaming (and streaming over LAN to other devices in the home such as Wii, iPad, etc).

Orb has a TV + Guide functionality. Streaming live TV works well but no EPG is available. Has anyone figured out how to use IceTV with Orb?  Is it at all possible?

Regards

Hi, is there any trick to getting the interactive working with win7?  I've setup the device in my account and in the local importer.  Have matched channel listings with icetv channel in MC (although none for SBS, only SBS TWO).  No scheduled recordings coming through though.  Also getting a lot of "no matching Icetv channel ID.." for any shows that I've setup in MC.

Any ideas?
Luke

Hey

I had very similar issues...

Suggest the following:

1. Uninstall ice tv
2. run the media center recovery task (preferred option)....or delete all content in the c:\program data\windows\ehome folder; you may need to stop media center services and processes in order to delete the media centre database (.db file I think)
3. Delete all data in the ice tv Program Data folder
4. Restart the PC
5. Open media centre and tune channels
6. Restart
7. Install icetv and download EPG
8. Open media center and check guide. Map each channel to -icetv channels if not done automatically

This worked well for me. The files and folders in the ehome folder will be recreated as the various tasks and settings are put in place.

Good luck.

Thank you.

Huge to boost the all important WAF!!!!!

You've just bought yourself a significant amount of development time.

We've got the basics we are paying for.....all other features are gravy from here.

Windows Media Center / Re: keeps crashing on start up?
November 05, 2009, 04:14:59 PM
Hey

I had the same problem until I deleted all icetv related files, folders and registry settings on my PC.

Then did a full media center reset.

Rebooted.

Set up TV signal.

Then installed icetv, downloaded EPG.

Opened MC - mapped channels.

Has worked fine ever since.

very silly to upset/lose customers over such a trivial issue...

either release a new version which disables padding or update us on when the new beta is coming.

---

Question: On the IceTV website, under My Account - latest EPG fetch does not update. Does anyone else have this issue as well? I'm definitely getting new data every day....

Thanks Daniel.

Any updates on the next release? The padding issue warrants an interim release in itself since the rest of the beta is performing so well.

Keep up the good work.

Uninstalled icetv beta

Deleted everything on PC which related to IceTv including registry entries

Stopped MC services and processes....deleted all content in all ehome program data/appdata folders including all MC databases (i.e. ALL folders and ALL files).

Restarted.

Tuned TV channels BEFORE installing IceTV beta again.

Restarted

Installed IceTV beta....downloaded EPG

Restarted

Now opened MC and all channels had mapped properly.

Remote scheduling working both ways....Finally

Lots of self inflicted pain from not removing Vista icetv app before installing w7 beta....hopefully this can help others who make the same mistake.

On 2 min padding issue....

I've noticed that there's a registry key which contains the padding details (e.g. value = 2 for 2 minute padding).

What would happen if one set this key manually to say 10?? (or may delete the keys altogether...)

I will give this a go myself later today and report back.

Could this be a workaround until this issue is fixed or just cause havoc?

I have the same problem but with channels 70 and 90.

I continue to have problems with remote scheduling. Some shows appear as failed on the interactive website but still record. Others fail completely. Shows set locally on PC to record work but do not appear on the interactive website.....

I DO see the -icetv channels and have mapped them all to the scanned channels. I know I'm using the icetv data through various testing (e.g. toggling the "MOVIE" prefix).

There are numerous error messages which appear in the interactive software (beta software) including: 'Failed to load scheduled tasks'; and in the log: "There's no channel mapping to ....Channel 70 etc" (But there definitely IS an -icetv channel mapped to Channel 70). When I use the "Edit Channels" function in Media Centre, all active channels have -icetv behind the channel names.

The Accounts page (on icetv website) also does NOT update the latest EPG Fetch dates....anyone else having this problem? I'm definitely getting new data every day.

----

I suspect parts of my problems relate to a Vista hangover. After upgrading to Windows 7 I did not uninstall the old icetv app before applying the beta (my bad!).

After checking the registry, I found that old Vista settings (e.g. user name, password, padding preference, etc) remained and was blocking the -icetv channels. After I deleted these entries, channel mapping was a breeze.

Could there be any further Vista history (particularly in the registry) which could be causing problems? What is the best way to find out?

Also, does anyone else have any data in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft\ehome\EPG folder.....? I have several files/folders in here which do not appear to relate to Win 7 and or icetv beta....(probably Vista legacy again). I only have the beta data in the C:\Program Data\icetv folder.

Would anyone with a working setup be willing to post screenshot/listing of files in these folders:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft\ehome\EPG
C:\Program Files\IceTV
C:\Program Data\IceTV

Also, screenshots of registry entries (after searching for icetv) would be extremely helpful....but a big ask
Any help on cleaning out Vista history would be much appreciated.

Thx

Hi

This sounds like the fix I need to apply.

How did you delete and redefine all the channels?

What is the best procedure for doing this?

Thx

Windows Media Center / How to delete all guide data?
October 30, 2009, 12:44:18 PM
Hi

Is there a simple way to delete all the icetv guide data and force a download of a new set?

i.e. is there a file somewhere which will rebuild if missing?

Running Windows 7

thx

Hi

Thanks for replying.

Q: First, have you updated your device in interactive to Windows 7 and resent?

Device updated to win 7 and resent...(actually deleted an old device (Vista) and created a new one). Device also updated on interactive software on PC.

Q: Second, is the Win7 client actually downloading the EPG?

I think so....seem to be getting new data down. When forcing an update it says everything went ok. Also, when I toggle the movie prefix on/off it seems to work..so that must be a good sign..

Q: Third, are they appearing in your Guide on the HTPC?

This is the problem...they are not....so the recordings fail

Thx again for responding.

Follow up.

On icetv website...a test recording of Hi-5 now says 'failed' (see attached file).

Any clues?

thx
