Windows Media Center / Re: No WIN Tas recordings
December 31, 2009, 12:49:22 AM
Depending on what region you are in the name of the channel in the 7MC guide vs. the name of the channel on the Interactive website (and downloaded to the Interactive application) may be different.

For example, "WIN" and "WIN HD" vs. "WIN Television TAS" and "WIN Television TAS HD". You can see what the IceTV channel names are on the "My Account" page and also in the log when the channel list is downloaded every so often.

In 7MC it is possible to edit channel > rename so that it matches. This seems to get passed the "No IceChannel .... messages".

It's seems a lot better for me, although I didnt experience quite the same issues as other people  ;)

Interesting, perhaps you turned notification icons off in your system tray settings. You can always download from the website.

I think Ice need to make the link change when an update is available, rather than relying on the notification balloon because users can hide them... I'll send 'em an email and suggest this.

Click 'check for update' link at the top of the app, or on previous versions this link was on the Account page. After a few seconds a notification baloon will appear, click that and the upgrade will take place.

I see things in the log from time to time but everything is actually working for me. What exactly isn't working? Is your EPG being downloaded? Is remote scheduling working?

I didn't have that particular issue, but I had some weird issues running both My Channel Logos and Interactive. After I remove My Channel Logos and did a Media Center recovery task was ok.

Looks like its just excessive logging when shows are scheduled on MCE itself, rather than via the Interactive service. Is there anything not actually working?

I think the issues are with ownership of the application's data directory which I think is fixed in the latest version.

They removed the custom channel padding in favour of the 7MC defaults, which are quite good IMHO. The latest version seems to have an option for per-channel padding which is disabled, so perhaps it's a sign that an upcoming version may include this which would be awesome.

Does the logfile suggest anything?
c:\ProgramData\IceTV\Interactive\3.0\ice.log

It works on both 32-bit and 64-bit.

Installed 7MC RTM 32bit on 24/10/09 (was waiting for ICE TV) installed as per instructions and all went well. It configured the 4 Nova T500 tuners out of the box and Ice TV was working reasonably well. (2 Minutes padding aside ???) Anyway the Nova T500's dropped 2 tuners for some reason and the "usual fix for Vista" reboot didn't fix this, after a week of only 2 tuners and the need to add Channel 72, I figured on a forum read and an re-install of the latest drivers from the new Magic site. Used HwClear to remove the old Nova T500 drivers and then installed the new ones after a reboot. Had Ice TV Beta 1 installed so I updated to Beta 2 while I was at it.

...

Any suggestions before the sledgehammer comes out? the problem seems to be in the ICE TV side of things in that it is unable to find ICE TV.
Going to try a WHS restore and if necessary a format of the C drive.

Cheers
Robert

7MC = Core2 duo, 2 Gig Ram, 2x Nova T 500's, 4xHDD's, exactly the same machine that been running as a Media Centre only using Vista and IceTV for two years. software installed, Windows 7 Ultimate, Kaspersky KIS 2010, Acronis True image, my channel logo's, and ICE TV of course.  :)

The Media center object store could be corrupt.

Uninstall my channel logos, close IceTV Interactive, Run the Media Center recovery task, then scan channels, then run IceTV Interactive and download the EPG via the EPG page. If this works ok then install my channel logos.

Hope this helps.

Daniel,

I noticed the top of this post says "The setup program for Beta1 of IceTV Interactive for Windows 7 can be downloaded from http://www.icetv.com.au/cgi-bin/downloads.cgi?op=get_file&number=21" should be Beta2 now ;)
