Topfield / Re: Is pre-padding possible?
September 24, 2009, 12:23:56 AM
not with topfield it is not.

Something i raised in another post is that ICETV actually advertised it as one of the features on the service, bit misleading as you can not actually set it, it's box Dependant.  :(

i wish icetv would allow you to set pre and post padding and it be added to the actual set rec time, i could then erase the post padding from the box and it would record the entire shows. Problem with post padding on the box is if there are show programmed to record it will kill the padding.

On Topfield HD recorders and Beyonwiz recorders, just enable and set up recording padding. That automatically adds time to all recordings. For these models, padding is added by the recorder, not IceTV.

you know it is interesting, whilst i know this is the case, IceTV actually advertise it as one of their features on the IceTV website, so intersting that you can not control your own padding via the iceTV website and set priorities through IceTV. I much more like to say that i have a record priority of one show over the other and i want it padded 10 minutes at the start and 20 minutes at the end.

With box padding, it just adds it to the end.

But then again we've been asking icetv for grid view for ages and that has not come, so seeing anything fancy and new is going to be limited.

one way i have found this to be done is with favourites, using these to a major extent (mark every show you like to watch) then through interactive you can go to the "My Upcoming Shows" section. this will then just show the favourites and preset recordings along with series records.

I generally use this for most of my guide viewing.

it's interesting how talk of grid view has died off.

it is the most simple thing to do, yet you wont do it. You'd get far more subscribers if you had a grid view. You current list view is one of the hardest things to view, hard to see where conflicts are and is just over the top with minute by minute lists.

It's a joke.

oh well my subscription is back for renewal in a month, lets hope it's done by then or back to FTA guide for me that is mind you provided in grid view.

IceTV EPG Content / Re: New Nine Channel - GO
August 04, 2009, 08:48:02 PM
is IceTV going to provide EPG data for this new channel because as far as i can see next week is still showing 9hd as exact replicas of the 9sd guide.

What is happening with go and how do i get the data.

i used to leave my 7100 on 24/7 until the HDD in it started to get louder and louder. So now i switch it off when i go to work, it switches back on for recording and off when it's done. Ever since my hdd has been quieter again.

That doesn't mean that the way it has always been is right. I dare say that grid TV guides were invented for the purpose of putting them in newspapers! Times change. I agree that a gridded guide can be handy but so is the current format.

And thats the point i raise, grid style, or list style with all networks side by side forming a grid or something relevant to a grid is the way the tv guide has always been presented to them, so to attract new customers would you not want to make the guide so much more like what they are used to in appearance. Thats why most people stick with Windows OS because the GUI is similar to what they've always known.

It's the same with TV guides, i always buy the sunday herald sun (melb) because their TV guide is far better and easier to read then the Age's Version, and this is the way people will view the guide. They look at the list view and it looks nothing like they are used to.

My two cents worth.

well i hope a grid view is coming soon. It's the clincher for me, it just how a tv guide should look, it is how it has always looked. So lets hope that the final paragrah in the email does mean something because so many companies say that just to keep suspense when nothing is really coming. Lets hope ICETV is different, and soon follows the masses.

there was an option like that before, i could set prefer HD or Prefer SD, so why is it a major update.

The Important thing for ICETV is to make the view of the guide easy for users to see what they are recording and a list view just does not cut it, you need a landscape grid view by timeslot not a running minute. similar to that of yourtv.com.au.

you almost got so close, by allowing us to view just one channel, how about letting us put another channel side by side, so close to a grid view.

well we hope that grid view has been included in the recent up date of ice-tv, but i really begin now to think that it has not. after all the day is almost half over and the only thing i've really seen in the update is that i have to re-set all of my series programs for some reason, but really see no major improvment elsewhere.

We're just now finishing the updates on the scheduling program, so please give the system a few minutes to get updated, and then you should see things looking better.  If not, feel free to post again.

I so hope you have a new style of tv guide in there, this list view is so complicated and very annoying, i always over schedule programs. Something like a landscape view would be great as people have pleaded for.

Topfield / strange ice tv data
January 17, 2009, 10:41:20 AM
Hi all

Recently i noticed that my ice tv guide (on TOP7100) has been showing up different days then it is. But this is the really strange part.

When i pres the guide button on my remote on ch7 or 9 it will show todays guide or current guide information, but the moment i switch to channel 10 or 10hd the guide will go 3 days ahead of what the day actually is.

Then.. when i switch back to channel 7 or 9 (sd/hd) it too will be three days ahead along with any other channels i go to.

The only way i have been able to stop this is to set the time to manual, which then means the unit is not set up correctly.

Anyone have a solution to this issue.?
