IceTV EPG Content / Death in paradise
August 07, 2017, 01:15:02 PM
Plex Ballarat
Shows season and episode as title but not in correct field Plex requires. Incorrect season and episode info seems else for repeats are you working on this as Gracenote now has better EPG now and IceTV needs to be better to justify subscription and people are telling me not as much reason to use IceTV. I found IceTV still better but some of Gracenote data has correct season and episode when IceTV doesn't. With death in paradise you know what it should be as you put it in the title but not title name. Plex needs this info correct. Also reporting in this forum is hard on a phone can you look at forum software that works on a phone easily or works with an app like Taptalk thanks. Keep trying to recommend IceTV.

I had Windows 8.1 running and started getting annoyed due to programs starting late and fragmenting. Decided to do Fresh install of Windows 10 and same issue. Gone back to window 7 again same issue.

I am in Australia

I have
Asrock Z77 Extreme6 mother board.
16GB Ram i7 Processor onboard Intel HD4000 Graphics
1 x Quad Digital Now PCIe Tuner
2 x Duel HVR-2200  PCIe Tuners
8 Tuners in Total
All Tuners latest Drivers
I use TunerSalad 32 to enable extra tuners

Seems after each rebuild it works well for a few days and random  Stops early then starts again immediately new Recording showing Error.
Usually 3 or more fragments starting immediately after each Event 3 failure so I get the whole program in multiple pieces. I have even spent several hours recording multiple programs with all tuners in use without failure!
I use ICETV for guide data and Scheduling programs but have even installed and run without ICETV and same issue although I have done my brain in trying so many options and I am sick of fresh installing and tuning and selecting Sources for so many tuners. I now have image backup for fresh and with media center install for Windows 7, 8.1 and 10

I use 2 Minutes Pre Hard Padding and 15 minutes Post Hard Padding.

From Event Log one example
Recording of Diagnosis Murder: Murder in the Dark began as scheduled on 16/01/2016 1:58:02 AM and stopped early on 16/01/2016 2:53:00 AM due to a schedule change.
Recording of Diagnosis Murder: Murder in the Dark began late on 16/01/2016 2:53:02 AM due to a temporary failure caused by either a system malfunction or a power loss and stopped early on 16/01/2016 2:58:00 AM due to a schedule change.
Recording of Diagnosis Murder: Murder in the Dark began late on 16/01/2016 2:58:04 AM due to a temporary failure caused by either a system malfunction or a power loss and stopped on 16/01/2016 3:15:00 AM.

One final issue is when we lose signal (my antenna is fine) due to being on the end of a chain of TV repeaters the program starting will very fast try All tuners including those in Use and cause similar issues!

Any suggestions appreciated.

Hmm, nearly brought one myself but wanted to pay more if it worked well. i have over 3 years of prepaid guide but I can live with that. Been with them since Window XP Media Center so very early days. I believe they were trading when they knew they had no way of continuing to provide goods and services. I wonder where the money went.

Sorry I must have been impatient. Yes you are usually fast. I have decided to put in a SSD and fresh install of Windows.

Thanks Dave,

Yeah I did try to reach out yesterday with a message on your answering service I left one on the first call, I tried 5 times in total up to near 8 pm. I also sent an email that remains unanswered so the last place I thought to look was here to see if anything was happening ;-)

I will follow your suggestions you listed, if you can look at my ticket as I attached a Video showing what was happening. I have done each of the above twice in the last two weeks including a re tune which I thought did a reset of channels and guide data. I have not done a reset media center to default settings so I will do that.

Thanks for getting back to me on the forum, I am not sure why I couldn't contact you by phone or email yesterday and nothing today either.

Anyone reading this IceTV are normally prompt with returning calls and replying to support tickets.

SKIPPA / Re: Skippa Pre-Order

Yes you can look at the negative but I think a product they are so passionate about will be good long term. I don't think they are going to sell Skippy and leave unmatched bugs and I think they will keep it fresh with updates hopefully with not a lot of problems. If I was working and money not an object I would love to get muy hands on this. I have invested too much in Windows media center to exit at the moment. Australian designed products are to be commended.

SKIPPA / Re: Skippa Pre-Order

Dave spoke to me at length.

1TB is not the right size for everyone as stated. Yes if you watch everything frequently maybe but I record a ton of programs and often don't watch series until the end and binge watch. 1TB won't do that not even close. I record a lot and if it's crap I delete it and I delete a lot but it may take a long time until I get to it, I don't want to micromanage 1TB, it't just that size to make the target price, remember record 6 programs at once, that will fill the 1TB in no time.

My main concern is how the padding is handled. Discussions concluded not that well guaranteed as it is still a 3 tuner device although it is smart 3 tuner where more than one channel on the one frequency can be used but no going to get the same flexibility as 6 tuner setup in a Media Center

Having a very fast desktop doing video editing and VideoRedo can't even get close to reliable advertisement detection without a lot of manual intervention but maybe Skippa has some magic way of outperforming a video workstation I think I would leave it off but I think it might work watching cricket as that is quite predictable and distinct break pattern.

If I was buying a PVR for the average person including my Parents Skippa looks like it will be a no brainer PVR to use. I am tempted but my Wife says what do I need Windows Media Center and skipper for. Well it will be easier to setup for the price on each TV and will handle different file formats much better than the xBox 360's but she is not convinced particularly as IceTV guide data has been so erratic lately ;-)

All the IceTV development will obviously go into making Skippa the main project so that is the future. Microsoft hasn't wanted to support Windows Media Center for some time and abandoned it and now killing it which is a pity so I don't think it will get a lot of love from IceTV either, it's a dead end without a clear replacement yet.

The Storage space can be fixed with NAS or even a PC with lots of storage.

One more tuner and guaranteed hard padding is the sticking point. I hate recording and missing the end of something and hard padding is necessary. Two Skippa's that could automatically spread the recording load would solve that problem but likely make so much complexity to take away the simplicity of Skippa that will suit 95%+ of users.

It is a bit hard to make final judgement without having a look at it or even seeing a manual but that is what the $100/$200 discount for the early birds is for I suspect it will need a few software updates over the rest of the year but won't be worse than Foxtel's new IQ3 as that would take a lot of effort.

General Discussions / Programs being cancelled bug
June 01, 2015, 09:22:08 PM
Is there any update on Programs being Cancelled. Third wave in 2 weeks that I am aware of. Windows 7 Media Center but from phone support sounds like multiple devices. Is there any update?

Sent email and phone call messages no response today.

Is anyone aware what is going on. It seems to be fixed then breaks then fixed and breaks missing out on recordings.

Had 3 more wiped today until I decided to disable IceTV and do everything manual until I hear back.

It would be great to get an email when the Ice servers melt down rather than a surprise when you find your recordings are showing cancelled way past where I can fix it myself and update my guide manually.

SKIPPA / Re: New IceTV branded PVR
November 29, 2013, 10:11:40 AM
Having just had windows 8 opportunistic tuner issues on a monthly basis despite following the pcmediacenter.com.au guide I hope this PVR will be as user friendly as WMC but have great tuner options / reliability.

Will it be able to record multiple channels off the single MUX allowing more than 4 recordings at once. Mostly this is to allow for decent hard padding.

Windows Media Center / Re: Feature requests

Most people find Hard Padding has to be a minimum of 10 minutes, if set to 5 minutes hard padding setting just goes to soft padding in Media Center. Have you been able to address that?

I would also like padding per channel. I have 4 tuners and 15 min hard padding is needed for many movies but on the ABC you only need 2 minutes. The less padding the quicker tuners get freed up. It is surprisingly easy to chew up 4 tuners once a week with aggressive hard padding. If Microsoft recorded the full transport stream you could have padding back to back programs on one tuner for say ABC and only need one tuner, I think two tuners would then cover my needs. I see other applications that do this but no where as easy as Windows Media Center to use.

On interactive can we set the number of tuners so that if using Phone or Website we get warnings of conflicts?

All logos come up except Prime ones on Prime (Rural) I assume Seven works fine but did no mess around. Nothing to get upset with just something I noticed.
