Dr Who - TARDIS Blue - not a repeat
« on: April 25, 2011, 12:24:18 PM »
The TARDIS Blue episode of Dr Who (ABC1 Sun May 1 17:45) is marked in IceTV as a repeat, but is not marked as a repeat on the ABC TV Guide. It appears to be the first episode of season 6 of the "new" Dr Who, and, according to IMDB, first screened on 23 Apr 2011. So unless Auntie owns its own TARDIS, it's not likely to be a repeat. According to IMDB the episode name is The Impossible Astronaut, not TARDIS Blue.

The plot synopsis of The Impossible Astronaut on IMDB is:
Quote
Four envelopes, numbered two, three and four - each containing a date, time and map reference, unsigned, but TARDIS blue - begin the latest series of the time-travelling adventures. Who sent them? And who received the missing number one?

Sounds eerily like the IceTV plot synopsis.

A little confusing.
The tardis wikia shows that the ep was called The Impossible Astronaut.  Don't chase too hard through this otherwise you'll cop all the spoilers.

The ABC website shows that the sunday ep is a repeat.

The ABC FTA EPG doesn't show it as a repeat.
And just to throw in a bit more confusion.
The ABC website shows both sat/sun as 45 minutes each.
The Ice website shows sat as 55 mins, sun as 45 mins.
Being a Dr Who fanatic, I'll record both.

Ah, I didn't notice the Saturday episode. The IceTV synopsis for the Sunday one is a cut-down version of the Saturday one. The ABC is showing both as 45 minutes.

Looks like some patching up has been done. Now both episodes are labelled The Impossible Astronaut, but the but the Saturday entry still shows it as 55 minutes, but the Sunday one shows it as 45 minutes, and the Sunday showing isn't marked as a repeat.

On the ABC website, both are shown as 45 minutes, but the Saturday one is sitting in a one-hour timeslot leading into Spooks at 20:30. IceTV has it in a 55-minute timeslot leading into News Update at 20:25, then Spooks at 20:30.

Perhaps there's a "making of" short showing after Dr Who in the Saturday timeslot?

That sounds like a reasonable suggestion.
Dr Who Confidential I think they were called in the last few series?
Or Video diaries.

The ABC and IceTV guides are now both showing the Saturday Dr Who as Dr Who - The Impossible Astronaut, followed by Dr Who Confidential, and Sunday's Dr Who as a repeat (and not followed by the making-of short).

Thanks, IceTV.

Can't wait for it all to startup again.

Just having a closer look.
Still not quite right yet.
Ice shows the Confidential as a repeat.  But the ABC doesn't.

I don't have Confidential set for recording, so I didn't notice. But you're right.

Dr Who, though, is now starting to challenge Spooks on the nearness to reality in their plots :)
