Ashes to Ashes is NOT a Repeat
« on: January 13, 2011, 09:26:48 PM »
According to the Widget, this new series is a Repeat. The TV Guide on the Web Guide shows that it is not a Repeat and this is actually the case.

Of recent times, I have often noticed that the Widget and Web Guides differ in this respect, the Widget being wrong most of the time. Could this be looked into please? I mostly set timers from the Widget so I'd like it to be correct.

Yep. Just watched it. Definitely not a repeat. Gene seems to be going a bit soft in his old age. :)

Yes, glad you agree  :). What seems odd to me is why the Widget data should vary from the Web guide data. I would have thought that the same data base would be used.

The blurb in the TV Guide is accurate to a point, but it may also be noted that this is the finale to the whole Life on Mars / Ashes to Ashes saga.

The more extended blurb in the Canberra Times guide in the "day's best viewing" said that all the loose ends from the previous series, including what happened to Sam Tyler at the end of Life on Mars, will be tied up at the end of this series.

There were some hints about part of what happened to him in the episode that just ran, and not just the police file that Alex found at the end.

This was my point. I guess that the cat is already out of the bag, but if those who are not in the know can refrain from rushing to spoilers then they are in for a revelation that was one of the best-kept secrets in British TV.

I was posting no more than what appeared in the Australian press about the show and that there were some hints about it in the episode already aired. I didn't even say what that hint was, nor mention what I think has happened to Sam, which, in detail, is probably wrong. It may well even be completely wrong.

That was not my point. I am really trying to deter people from going to web sites where the plot is outlined, if they want to see how this last series unfolds. IMO the Canberra Times blurb was a fair comment on what Ashes to Ashes 3 is about without giving anything away as to whys and wherefores.

Fair enough. I misread your post about "rushing to spoilers" as saying that you thought that's what I was doing.

Anyway, I certainly won't be rushing off to read the "last page". I think it could be an intriguing series.
