7mate & GEM are coming soon.
« on: September 21, 2010, 04:05:09 PM »
Channel Seven and Channel Nine are set to launch their latest channels

7mate on the Seven Network

Billed as being a "bloke-friendly" channel which promises to clear backyard sheds across the nation.

Programming on the channel is set to include first run episodes of popular shows like Gene Simmons, Family Jewels, Punk'd, Nitro Circus, American Dad, Family Guy, the list goes on. Suffice it to say if you're male and old enough to vote then there is likely to be something on this channel that appeals to you.

7mate will be replacing 7HD but will also be moving from Channel 70 to Channel 73.

At this time the Seven Network are advising that 7mate will launch on Saturday, September 25 at 6pm after the high definition coverage of the 2010 AFL Grand Final, which starts at 12.15pm.

For more information see 7mate

To ensure you get access to the new channel when it becomes available, you will need to perform a 'channel rescan' on your TV Recorder at home, once the new channel becomes available.

If you need instructions or are unsure how to do this, please click here for the applicable Setup Guide for your TV Recorder, or read the following;

If you come across any technical problems whilst trying to perform a 'channel rescan', please don't hesitate to contact us.

GEM on the Nine Network

GEM is targeted at the 35+ female market with a mix of new content, classic comedies, cherished drama series, all-time favourite movies, and oddly all of Nine's sport coverage in high definition

Leading the GEM lineup is the acclaimed new US drama series The Big C, starring Laura Linney as a woman making the most of her life after being diagnosed with cancer.

Also featuring on the new channel will be Weeds, Southland, Miami Medical, Secret Diary Of a Call Girl, The New Adventures of Old Christine and a host of others.

GEM will be replacing Nine HD and will remain on Channel 90 so it will not be necessary to update your TV Recorder in order to receive the new channel.

At this time the Nine Network are advising that GEM will launch on Sunday, September 26.

For more information see GEM

IceTV Guide Information

Guide information for the new channels will appear under the channel names 7mate, 7mate on Prime and GEM depending on your region.

I've just purchased a 7100+ and after setting it up over the weekend I notice at least one error on the ICETV interactive site. ICE have associated LCN's 70 and 73 with 7mate but it appears from the content I am seeing in Brisbane that 70 should be associated with 7, i.e. 7 Digital. 70 is not a HD channel anymore it seems.

Hi ICEtv/Daniel,
I can echo this issue also.
I have a number of 7mate timers setup already by ICE, but they were set for 70, not 73.   As you probably know (now!) is that 7 ditched 70 (making it a copy of 7) and 73 is the new mate channel... which means the timers are set for the wrong channel.   I have changed my account information from "all" to 73, but you should probably remove 70 now from the all option, as timers appear to be set for the first channel in the "all" list.
Argh, I sent some new timers, and they still get sent for LCN70, not LCN73.... ICE, you need to fix this immediately!

Beyonwiz DP-S1 & Topfield 5K (using PerlTGD to upload ICE EPG/timers for the 5K, normal ICE interactive for the Wiz).

Thanks for the heads up, we have removed 70 (and 60 for regional areas) so that should solve the problem. I appologise for the error we were rushing about trying to get 7mate/GEM ready and it looks like we missed a step in the configuration changes.

My copy of the mac widget still isn't showing 7mate or Gem in the guide for Melbourne. The channels show up in the settings of the widget, just not on the guide. For example  it shows 9 and 9HD channels showing the same programs but no isting for Gem.

I have tried refreshing the guide (clicking and pressing command-r) and also deleting & re-installing the widget - version 2.14 (25).
