Humax 7500T Turning Itself Off Randomly...
« on: May 09, 2012, 03:27:27 PM »
Anyone else had problems with their Humax 7500T turning itself off at odd intervals during day, or night?  Have set it to turn off between 2am and 7am, but it seems to have a mind of its own and just shuts down randomly.  Very annoying when you have preset recordings... Have changed powered boards etc to isolate.

Along with the padding issue and other minor things I am nearly ready to return for refund and go back to a Beyonwiz.  Never had these kind of issues with my DP-S1.  Has anyone successfully returned this machine for a refund on basis it doesn't do what it is intended to do?

jeisner and swamprat96 appear to have the same idea.

The padding issue alone would stop me buying or recommending a Humax.

Hi Timidy,

Disable everything that can turn the PVR off:
Go to 'Menu > Settings > System > Power Management' and turn off both options there.
Go to 'Menu > Settings > Time' and disable the Off time, if it is set.
Keep fingers away from the Sleep button on the remote control.

None of the above should affect any scheduled or active recordings.

Is it also randomly rebooting? If yes, or the random turning off continues, you should talk to Humax Australia Customer Support on 1300 737 937
cheers

Was watching a recorded program this morning and the Humax rebooted  :o

Individual problems I can live with, but now I have had 3 different issues :
* Padding
* Manual reboot required when unit wouldn't turn on
* Random reboot while watching a recorded program

All this in the first 3 weeks of ownership...I'm nearly at that point where I will be looking at returning the unit.

Yes - I have had the same problem. Contacted IcetV and they directed me to Humax suport. They were very good and immediately replaced the unit. I have since received the new unit and found different problems - specifically:
Difficulty connecting to IceTV
Failure of the EPG and corresponding loss of front display on Humax
Prior to this I had a Topfield. Wish I'd stuck with the Topfield - it was excellent.

I can't comment reconnecting to icetv. Ethernet or wifi? I long ago set the Humax with a fixed IP as I found one of our phones was knocking it off the network. I also set DHCP on the router to start issuing addresses above a reserved set range- ie- 10.1.1.2 to 10.1.1.30 are reserved and my non mobile devices (such as PC's and the Humax) use addresses inside this range. DHCP starts at 10.1.1.31 to 255

The disappearing EPG is a known issue- and you need to power off (via the rear switch) and on again which should restore it. If it doesn't send it back.

They are working on a fix but its well overdue
