When I get a chance I'll try what I can, problem is most of my videos are H.264 MPG4.

But, if your interested I give my HDR-7510T 8/10 and my HM-1000T (4Tune) 3/10.

Well, it's ok.
Just to me other than the 4 tuners it's a backwards step from my HDR-7510T.

I'll put something together.

From what I can see most of the problem should be able to be fix in firmware.

Bought one of these yesterday, for people interested in the EPG setup Humax has its own internet based EPG! At first sight it looks primitive but seems to work ok, lots of room for improvement.
I have upgraded from the 7500 and I was a little disappointed with 4tunes PQ compared to the 7500, colours seem to be washed out and it took some time fiddling with adjustments to get something that was acceptable to me.
Scheduled recording didn't work last night last night...I haven't found out why yet.
Tried the EPG search function and that didn't work properly- when I searched for "movie" only 1 result came up.
Also had a full system lock up while we were watching 7mate! The only way I could fix it was to switch the unit off and on again from the back.
I haven't tried dlna yet but will report back if people are interested
So for a $600 pvr my experience hasn't been good so far Humax need to lift their game a bit.
This is not meant a pick on session on Humax but purely my first few hrs experience with this unit.

My understanding is that Humax is paying IceTV to provide a portion of their EPG data for the Humax.

So once again Humax release an unfinished product. To be honest it seems as if most PVR manufacturers are guilty of this. The 7500T is not bad- but its 2 years old and still has bugs. Other manufacturers like TVIX and Strong are reknowned for buggy software.

PVR's just don't have the sales volume to attract major players - and get finished products. I wonder what the FetchTV box is like- ie is it also unfinished?

We've had PVRs from the "major" players in the past. They weren't that good and are probably the reason the specialist PVR manufacturers have survived - Topfield/Beyonwiz/Humax/Tivo etc were all better.
My theory for the 'buggyness' is the incessant desire to incorporate more multimedia functionality rather than just make a great PVR. A 'triumph' of marketing over engineering.

Very keen to know if the 7510 has DLNA so it can be read from a WD Live, plus "Smart" recording (e.g. recording a series) - so basically it is a reliable, 2 tuner version of the 4Tune, based on IceTV. If so I think I will get a 7510 based on this discussion!

Yes the desire to add non-PVR features rather than refine and perfect basic PVR features seems common. I use my PVRs to record and play back recordings. I have better DLNA payers (Samsung TV, Sony BlueRay, D-Link Boxee Box).

So these units are about $600 - that was the price Harvey Norman was selling the TF-T6000 when was released. Now that is a unit that is not much of a PVR and some of the advanced features are broken. (end of rant)
