was this email real or bogus "Happy Father's Day from IceTV"

Hi I received a purported IceTV email with subject "Happy Father's Day from IceTV" a part of which promised "Why not treat yourself. Get $50 off another year's worth of IceTV."

I clicked on the link, https://www.icetv.com.au/cgi-bin/webpage.cgi?op=store&product_id_14=1&discount_code=fathersday and entered my credit card etc and it came back with an error along the lines refused because of transaction too much or something like that.  I had funds, so it sounds very suspicious.

Also, the site tries to get me to buy 2 of them @ $99 ea...

Have I been sucked in ?  Do I need to cancel my credit card ?

Nope, it's real. :-)

If you click the link more than once, it may add multiple subscriptions to your cart. Just change the quantity back to 1 and click Update, and then you can checkout and enter the discount code it tells you to. Once you enter the discount code during the checkout process, it'll show you the discounted price.  Not sure what happened with the credit card purchase, but maybe just a glitch at that time. Give it another shot, and if you still have problems, feel free to contact support and I'm sure they can get it going.

Got stung by this too.  Ah well, I guess that I won't be needing to buy IceTV subscriptions for a long time now.

I just now received a 2nd email form Ice - the same one I think ... it's gotta be a scam.

I just added another year to my account and was charged $99  instead of the $49 

but its a real email

I looked at my account, and now have 921 days of subscription remaining, so think that the offer is legit.  It just seems that it throws two of them in your cart when you're not expecting it, so catches you out.

I worked up the courage to try again and it worked.  Need to monitor the CC, but so far so good.
